Bhilwara: Chittorgarh police busted a fraudulent marriage racket and apprehended a woman from Uttar Pradesh along with her spouse Sunday. The authorities retrieved Rs 20,000 from the total sum of Rs 2 lakh that the victim had given to the fraudulent bride. The police identified a middleman who arranged the bogus marriage, though he remains at large. According to Chittorgarh SP Sudhir Joshi, Nemichand Kumawat from Kishankreri village in Dungla police jurisdiction reported that he was duped through a fake marriage scheme, and lost Rs 2 lakh. A team was formed under Chittorgarh ASP Sarita Singh and Badi Sadri DSP Deshraj's guidance, with Dungla station officer Amritlal leading the investigation. The investigation led to the arrest of the primary suspects who deceived Nemichand Kumawat. The authorities detained 23-year-old Anuradha, spouse of Vishal Kumar Paswan from Rudrapur Shivnath in Kolhui Bazar, Maharajganj district, UP, alongside her associate, 22-year-old Vishal Kumar. The police also identified the middleman responsible for orchestrating the fraudulent marriage and took Rs 2 lakh from the victim, of which Rs 20,000 were recovered from the accused.

Khargone/Barwani: Five members of a gang were arrested for selling and mortgaging rented vehicles, and nine four-wheelers worth Rs 60 lakh were seized from them. Khargone superintendent of police Dharamraj Meena said that on May 22, a person from Bhavsar Mohalla, Khargone, complained that his car was not being returned after it was taken on rent. In this case, Imran Sheikh, Farooq Sheikh, Avinash Jadhav and Deepak were arrested, and their police remand was obtained. The police investigation found that this gang took vehicles on rent from other people from Khandwa, Harda, Khargone and Sendhwa of Barwani district, and either sold or mortgaged them. Police also arrested another accused, Chetan Dhamone, a resident of Sendhwa in Barwani district, in this case. The SP said that nine four-wheelers valued at about Rs 60 lakh were seized from the accused. He said, "The accused used to take the vehicle in the name of renting it and also paid its rent in the initial months but when they stopped paying the rent, a complaint was lodged."
