Four members of family die in road accident
The victims have been identified as Seebe Gowda (50), his wife Shobha (45), daughter Dumbishree (23), and son Bhanukiran (13), police confirmed today.
According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 8 PM yesterday night while the family was en route to drop Bhanukiran, a Class 8 student at Valley School, to his hostel near Bidanagere on the outskirts of Kunigal.
The family, residents of Magadi town, had reportedly finished dinner and were travelling together when their car encountered a mini truck allegedly coming from the wrong direction on a one-way stretch of the bypass.
"A speeding Canter truck came from the opposite direction in violation of traffic rules and collided head-on with the car," a senior police officer said, adding that the car was also travelling at high speed. The collision was so intense that all four occupants of the car died instantly.
The mini truck driver has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the officer stated.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further legal procedures are underway.
The tragic accident has cast a pall of gloom over Magadi, where the family was well known in the local community.

Gang Used LED-Lit Pigeons At Night To Spread Rumours Of Drone Sightings
Two persons were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly using pigeons strapped with red and green lights to spread false rumours of drone sightings in the district, a senior official said. Panic had gripped several villages across western Uttar Pradesh in recent days due to reports of drone sightings and many residents were keeping night vigil out of fear for their safety, according to police. Two individuals, identified as Shoeb and Sakib, were arrested after the police investigated complaints from villagers about mysterious flying objects with lights in the night sky that they suspected to be drones, they said. "During the investigation, the police recovered two pigeons, a cage, and red and green LED lights from the accused. They confessed to tying the lights to the pigeons' legs and releasing them at night so that the people assumed that they were seeing drones from a distance," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar said. The gang was operating in Jatwara village under Kakroli police station limits, the SSP said. An FIR has been lodged against them under the relevant section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
