Time of India9 hours ago

Following the tragic
helicopter crash
that killed seven people near
Kedarnath
on Sunday, the Civil Aviation Ministry suspended the operations of
Aryan Aviation
for the Chardham Yatra.
The Aryan Aviation chopper had taken off from Kedarnath at 5:30 am and was headed for Guptkashi when it lost contact shortly after take-off. The aircraft went down near the Gauri Mai Khark forests above Gaurikund in the narrow and mountainous Kedarghati region.
The incident also prompted the
Uttarakhand
government to suspend helicopter services for two days and initiate major safety reviews for mountain aviation operations.

Preliminary investigations identified dense fog and zero visibility as the primary reasons behind the crash. "The helicopter is believed to have flown into dense fog, drastically reducing pilot visibility and contributing to a loss of control," Rudraprayag district disaster management officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said.
Inspector General (Garhwal Range) Rajiv Swaroop said that the site of the crash was a very remote area. Officials said the narrow mountainous terrain of the Kedarghati region further limited the pilot's ability to maneuver.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for helicopter services operations in the state after the incident.
As per the SOP, a complete check of technical conditions of the helicopters and accurate weather information before flights should be made mandatory, an official release from the chief minister's office said.
Dhami has also instructed the Chief Secretary to constitute a committee of technical experts to prepare the SOP after a thorough review of all technical and safety aspects of the helicopter operations. The committee shall also ensure the safe and transparent operation of helicopter services as per the SOP.
The CM has also directed the committee to investigate the previous helicopter accidents as well as the Gaurikund helicopter crash in the state. Furthermore, the committee will also identify the guilty people or institutions behind the accidents, if any and also recommend strict action against them.
"The importance of the helicopter services in the state is immense for pilgrimage, disaster management and emergency services, hence safety needs to be given a top priority in this," the Chief Minister said.
This was the fifth chopper-related incident along the Chardham yatra route in the last six weeks.

On Father's Day, he came to reunite with one son, grieve for another

1 2 3 On Father's Day , Ramesh Bhaliya arrived in Ahmedabad not to receive warm hugs but to collect the mortal remains of his youngest son and meet his eldest son, who miraculously survived the AI 171 crash and is his only solace now. The London businessman had flown halfway across the world to Civil Hospital, where Ajaykumar lay in the morgue, while his eldest son Viswashkumar was recuperating in the ward. Viswash, who was seated on 11A of AI 171, is the sole survivor of the plane crash. Both the brothers are British citizens and had come down to Ahmedabad for business purposes. The weight of grief has rendered Ramesh speechless. "Rameshbhai is in no state to talk to anyone. He is still grappling with the tragedy," says Deepak Devji, the village sarpanch from Diu who travelled to Ahmedabad to support the grieving family. Ramesh has taken refuge in a local hotel nearby, while a close friend maintains watch over Viswash as he recuperates. "No other close family members have travelled with him to the city," Deepak adds. The brothers originally hail from Patelwadi area of Bucharwada village in Diu, having migrated to London several years ago to build their dreams. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo For 15 years, they had jointly operated a garment business in the UK and a boat business in Diu. Seat 11A became a lifeline for Viswash since it was near the emergency exit on the ill-fated AI 171. Just across the aisle, on 11J, sat his younger brother, Ajaykumar Ramesh. Within 30 seconds of take-off, fate intervened mercilessly, separating the brothers in ways nobody could have imagined. Viswash stumbled from the burning wreckage, his survival captured in heart-wrenching video shot by rescue workers and volunteers. It shows him staggering through the debris, bloodied and in shock, crying out: "Plane fatyo che! Plane fatyo che!" (The plane has exploded). Local residents and rescue workers rushed to his aid, pulling him into an ambulance as the magnitude of the disaster unfolded around them. The brothers and their uncle and aunt were among 15 residents from Diu's Bucharwada and Vanakbara villages aboard the flight.
