Stay Away From july 26 Rally, Chief Secretary Reminds Civil Servants

Barnama21 hours ago
PUTRAJAYA, July 20 (Bernama) -- Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has reminded civil servants not to participate in a rally scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (July 26).
He said it is inappropriate for civil servants to join such a gathering, as doing so would be inconsistent with the principle of 'Loyalty to King and Country', as enshrined in the Rukun Negara (National Principles).
'They shouldn't go. They are civil servants, (so) how can they join? Every day, every week, we recite the Loyalty to King and Country pledge. Have they forgotten? Be grateful to the King and the Country,' he said.

Anwar: Appreciation package to be announced tomorrow or Wednesday

Anwar said more time is needed to finalise the announcement following the Unity Government retreat in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan yesterday. – Bernama photo PUTRAJAYA (July 21): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said a special gesture of appreciation for the people is expected to be announced tomorrow or Wednesday. He said more time is needed to finalise the announcement following the Unity Government retreat in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan yesterday. 'The retreat focused on explaining government policies while also listening to public concerns, which led me to consider certain changes and announcements to help ease these issues. 'I mentioned that I would make an announcement within a day or two (whether in the form of additional measures or otherwise) but it requires some careful review,' he said at the Prime Minister's Department monthly assembly here today. On July 19 in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Anwar had hinted that that the extraordinary appreciation to be announced would involve government measures to address the rising cost of living. Anwar acknowledged that although policies are carefully planned at the federal level, there is often a perceived disconnect between policy implementation and the reality experienced by the people. 'When we plan, we believe we've done our best. But sometimes, the views at the grassroots level differ. There seems to be a disconnect, partly due to political spin, partly due to misinformation — but some concerns are genuine and must be taken seriously,' he said. At the same time, Anwar rejected claims that the people are burdened by the Sales and Services Tax (SST) and base electricity tariffs, describing the 'tariff hike, tax hike' narrative as a distortion of facts that does not reflect the actual situation. 'I ask, are you representing the people or the business tycoons? Some large industries may be affected, but 85 per cent of the public are exempt from the increase,' he said. Anwar said the revised tariffs introduced by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) target only high-profit industries, with no impact on domestic users. He added that the new electricity tariff structure has not resulted in a general increase in electricity costs. On the contrary, it has led to a 19 per cent reduction for the majority of users. 'There are also additional reductions for consumption during non-peak hours. But the key point is, once implemented, this is the fact — there was no increase. 'Overall, electricity costs fell by 19 per cent, from 55.95 sen (Rp3) to 45.40 sen (Rp4). So, if you compare your latest bill to the previous month's, it is lower,' he said. announcement anwar ibrahim appreciation electricity lead tariffs

Claims Multibillion-ringgit Investments Failed Are Baseless

BUSINESS PUTRAJAYA, July 21 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed claims that multibillion-ringgit investments have not produced any results. He emphasised that investments in the manufacturing sector continue to have a positive impact on the national economy, with the benefits being directly felt by the people through increased job opportunities, higher wages, and greater value added to industries. Anwar said that 3,494 manufacturing investment projects had been approved by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) from 2021 to June 2025, of which 3,095 projects, or 86.4 per cent, had been realised and are now operational. He noted that the overall annual implementation rate of these approved projects stood at 90.6 per cent in 2023 and 79.2 per cent in 2024, while for the first quarter of 2025, the implementation rate was 49.8 per cent. 'They say, 'billions in investment, but where are the results? There is nothing to show'. In reality, 86 per cent of the approved projects are already operational. 'As such, I have informed the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz to continue displaying this data and to highlight the locations of these operational projects in Kulim, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah, and the Klang Valley,' Anwar said in his speech at the Prime Minister's Department (PMO) monthly assembly here today. He said the majority of these realised projects are in the manufacturing sector, with a focus on digital and green industries. Anwar highlighted that the implementation of these projects had created 50,000 new job opportunities in the manufacturing sector in the first quarter of 2025. During the same period, the median wage in the manufacturing sector increased by 5.4 per cent to RM2,745, compared to RM2,600 last year, in line with the implementation of the new minimum wage of RM1,700.

Act 711: Whistleblowers Need To Refer To Legitimate Agencies, Don't Go Straight To Media

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- Whistleblowers seeking protection under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 (Act 711) cannot make direct disclosures to the media; instead, they must first refer to legitimate enforcement agencies. According to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, the move was important to ensure the information provided is authentic and to avoid the risk of disclosing state secrets. 'Many people ask why whistleblowers who go to the media can also be seen as among those being accused, but in reality, the procedure does not allow you to go directly to the media. "Whistleblowers must go to the responsible agency because the agency wants to assess the validity of the information... we want to determine that the state secrets are not at the level mentioned by the whistleblowers, especially on national security issues," she said during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today. She was answering a supplementary question from Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (BN-Ayer Hitam) regarding the government's decision to amend the definition of eligible whistleblowers in Act 711 so as not to exclude whistleblowers from protection under the Act. Azalina emphasised that fair legal procedures (due process) must be respected and the media should not be used as a place to pass premature judgement on any party. "If a person, for example, goes to the media, there will be a premise of trial by media, meaning the media has already made a decision, the public has already made a decision about the offence, and this is also unfair to the legal process system in our country," she said. Responding to Wee's original question about the current status of the Act's amendment, she said the government is currently in the first phase of the amendment, which involves the establishment of a Whistleblower Protection Committee responsible for overseeing, collecting statistics, and data related to disclosures and complaints made under Act 711. She said the amendments to be made for the second reading tomorrow will also involve proposals to improve Section 6 to ensure protection remains valid even if the disclosure touches on confidentiality aspects under other laws.
