UP Govt to hold statewide programmes to mark Kakori centenary year

The Uttar Pradesh Culture Department has planned statewide programmes to mark the conclusion of Kakori Train Action centenary year on August 9, according to an official statement.
'Tiranga melas', motor-cycle rallies, debate and speech competitions are set to be organised.
According to officials, the centenary celebrations, which had started last year on August 9, will conclude with a grand closing ceremony this year at Shaheed Smarak Kakori in Lucknow.
During the event, families of freedom fighters would be honoured, a separate event would be organized where 'tri coloured rakhis' would be tied to paramilitary, police and army personnels, the statement said.
Officials said that meanwhile at the district level, events will be organized at martyr memorials in the presence of public representatives.
Instructions have also been given to play the national anthem at these events, along with motorcycle rallies, Tiranga Melas, competitions like essay writing, calligraphy and debates etc.
Moreover, each district has also been asked to organize exhibitions of archives on the freedom movement along with holding plantation drives under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'.
According to officials, in the past year several initiatives have been undertaken to mark the centenary year, which also included development of a Shaheed Smriti Vatika, organising of book exhibitions, story telling sessions among others.
