Attijariwafa Bank Partners with Kiwi Collecte to Advance Crowdfunding in Morocco

Morocco World24-04-2025

Rabat – Attijariwafa Bank has officially sealed a strategic partnership with Kiwi Collecte, a rising Moroccan fintech startup specializing in crowdfunding, marking a major step toward structuring Morocco's emerging participatory finance sector.
Announced during an event in Casablanca, the alliance reaffirms the bank's long-standing commitment to financial innovation and support for Moroccan startups. Since 2022, Attijariwafa Bank has been backing Kiwi Collecte by helping the platform define an operational model tailored to the local market and in line with regulations issued by Bank Al-Maghrib.
Kiwi Collecte is the first Moroccan digital crowdfunding platform to be officially licensed in the country. It connects socially conscious and innovative Moroccan project leaders with their communities worldwide, enabling transparent and accessible financing.
This support proved vital in March 2024, when Kiwi Collecte became the first platform to obtain the 'Donation' license under Morocco's new regulatory framework for crowdfunding. This historic approval cements its pioneering role in a sector that offers promising opportunities for both project initiators and civic-minded contributors.
Attijariwafa Bank sees this partnership as a forward-looking investment that aligns with Morocco's growing demand for alternative financing solutions. It contributes to broader goals of financial inclusion and social innovation.
By linking traditional finance with the solidarity economy, the bank aims to create a more inclusive, digital, and community-centered financial system. The initiative also aligns with Attijariwafa Bank 's strategic roadmap, focused on impactful, forward-thinking financial practices.
With this alliance, both institutions hope to drive the development of a robust crowdfunding ecosystem in Morocco — one that empowers entrepreneurs, strengthens social ties, and accelerates the country's transition toward inclusive economic growth. Tags: AttijariWafa BankCrowdfundingeconomy

Royal Air Maroc Expands Summer Capacity to Record 6.6 Million Seats Amid Travel Surge

Morocco's national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), will offer a record 6.6 million seats for summer 2025, up by more than 700,000 from last year, as part of a major ramp-up to meet surging travel demand, particularly from the Moroccan diaspora, the airline said Monday. The expanded schedule includes over 95 destinations, with new long-haul routes to São Paulo, Beijing, Toronto, and Catania, and additional domestic and African frequencies. RAM also added a third London route via Stansted, supplementing its existing services from Heathrow and Gatwick. The carrier is modernizing its fleet with eight new aircrafts, including two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and six Boeing 737 MAX 8s, reducing reliance on leased aircraft. It will, however, wet-lease four additional planes for the season to cover peak demand across Casablanca, Tangier, Nador, and Oujda. RAM is also overhauling its Casablanca hub operations with new scheduling windows to improve connectivity—dedicating overnight slots to European routes and daytime slots to African destinations. The expansion is part of RAM's broader strategy to position Morocco as a strategic aviation hub and improve the passenger experience, CEO Hamid Addou said. Ticket sales for the summer program are now available across all official channels. MAP: 16 June 2025

Industrial Sovereignty: Morocco Selects 1,839 Projects Worth $12.49 Billion

Doha – On Monday, Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour announced that 1,839 industrial projects have been selected as part of efforts to boost Morocco's industrial sovereignty. The projects, selected up until June 10, represent a total investment of MAD 124.9 billion ($12.49 billion). They aim to strengthen domestic production capacities, reduce Morocco's reliance on imports, and are expected to generate 179,825 jobs across key manufacturing sectors. Speaking at the House of Representatives, Mezzour, through Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira, stated that these projects are expected to create 179,825 jobs. He stressed that this initiative seeks to increase domestic manufacturing of goods that can be produced in Morocco as a substitute for imported products. Mezzour also pointed out the significant progress made by the industrial sector under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. He attributed this to the various industrial plans implemented over the past two decades. The minister noted that this momentum has been further reinforced following the COVID-19 pandemic through the adoption of a new strategy. This strategy aims to position Morocco as a decarbonized industrial platform, enhance its industrial sovereignty, improve competitiveness, and reduce the trade deficit. The selection of these projects represents a key step towards achieving these objectives and bolstering Morocco's industrial self-sufficiency. Tags: Moroccan IndustryRyad Mezzour
