Focus on enhancing learning outcomes, developing fundamental skills among students, Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Lokesh tells officials
Addressing a review meeting attended by officials of School Education, Samagra Shiksha and Intermediate Education departments, Mr. Lokesh said it would help improve district and State-level rankings of the government schools. He said teachers should be motivated to enhance learning outcomes.
He wanted the officials to maintain utmost transparency in selecting candidates for 'Best Teacher' awards to be given on the occasion of Teachers' Day on September 5.
'Aa-Aa' programme
He said STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities should be effectively implemented in the government schools through Atal Tinkering Labs.
The Minister discussed steps to strengthen the High School Plus system. He enquired about the admissions in the first year of Intermediate courses in government junior colleges and directed the officials to implement the Akshara Andhra (Aa-Aa) literacy programme effectively.
Secretary, School Education, Kona Shashidhar, Commissioner of School Education V. Vijay Rama Raju, Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao, and Director of Intermediate Education Kritika Shukla were among others present.
Later, at a review meeting with the officials of the Skill Development Department, Mr. Lokesh directed them to complete the Skill Portal being developed to connect youth with industry opportunities by August as it was scheduled to be launched on September 1.
Job fairs
He said the District Employment Officers would be renamed as District Employment and Skill Officers, job fairs would be organised every three months in every constituency and international employment opportunities should be facilitated through OMCAP (Overseas Manpower Corporation of Andhra Pradesh).
He wanted support guidelines to be created for those seeking employment abroad to avoid exploitation and a helpline (0863-2340678) and WhatsApp number- 8500027678 should be made available for any issues faced by job-seekers going abroad.
Managing Director and CEO of Skill Development Corporation G. Ganesh Kumar, Director of College Education N. Bharat Gupta, Adviser, International Skilling and Mobility, Seetha Sharma, and APSSDC Executive Director K. Raghu were among others present.

Expressing the willingness to collaborate with Singapore universities on research, innovation, student exchange, and entrepreneurship, the minister for ITE and HRD said that they are looking forward to collaborating with institutions like Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). Maharashtra SCERT invites public feedback for school education curriculum
The Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Monday invited public feedback on the draft school education curriculum. The draft was made available for the public on the council's website ( from 10 am, said a press release by SCERT Director Rahul Rekhawar. Education experts, teachers, scholars, parents, officials, organisations, and all sections of society are requested to submit their comments on the draft online by 5 pm on August 27. Twenty subjects are included in this draft: Marathi, English, Mathematics, Science, Politics, Economics, Social Work, The World Around Us 1 and 2, History, Geography, Environmental Science, Defence Studies, Traffic Safety and Civil Protection, Civics, and Physical Education and Fitness. The comments and suggestions should be concise and reasoned, and should include the subject, class, level, relevant page number, text in the original draft, required changes/corrections, reason for change, and what the revised text should be, the release said. Personal details of the commenter, such as name, telephone number, e-mail, and residential address, also have to be added. NRIs are Andhra's brand ambassadors: AP IT minister Lokesh at Singapore diaspora meet
VIJAYAWADA: HRD, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh described Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) as the State's brand ambassadors and urged them to promote Andhra Pradesh as a top investment destination. Speaking at the Telugu diaspora meet organised by APNRT at the OVIS Auditorium in Singapore, Lokesh emphasised the critical role of NRIs in rebuilding the State after five years of stagnation under the previous YSRCP regime. He said the coalition government, under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's leadership, is working to put Andhra Pradesh back on track. He also emphasised alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, promising to recover the State's losses from the past five years, with interest. Lokesh highlighted global trust in the 'CBN Brand' as a magnet for investments. Citing official data, he noted that in the financial year 2024–25, India received $81.04 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with Singapore accounting for approximately $14.94 billion, 19% of the total.
