Queen Elizabeth's grandson is engaged four years after divorce
Peter Phillips, the eldest grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II, is officially engaged.
The 47-year-old, who is the son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, confirmed his engagement to Harriet Sperling, a pediatric nurse and freelance writer, on Friday. A spokesperson for the couple said in a statement shared with CNN that 'both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement.'
The spokesperson added that King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Kate have all been informed — but no wedding date has been set yet.
Phillips and Sperling announced their engagement with a magazine-style reveal, posing together in a field for a photo shoot in Hello!, with Sperling's ring clearly on display.
The couple have reportedly been dating since at least May 2024, when they were spotted at the Badminton Horse Trials with Phillips' daughters and Queen Camilla. Sperling, whose late father was Rupert Sanders, works for the U.K.'s National Health Service and has written publicly about her experience with postpartum depression.
Phillips was previously married to Canadian-born Autumn Kelly, with whom he shares two daughters, Savannah, 14, and Isla, 13. The couple divorced amicably in 2021 and share custody of their children.

Bride Says She 'Never Prayed for Someone Tall,' Then Married a Man Who's 4' (Exclusive)
"If you're still waiting for your person… they may not look like what you pictured and that might be the best part," says bride Anita Wing LeeNEED TO KNOW Anita Wing Lee and Tim Muttoo got married on June 21 in Canada. Afterward, their wedding photos and love story quickly went viral Although Tim wasn't what Anita originally "envisioned" in a partner, she realized that "it's the internal — the heart, the soul, the kindness, the way they treat you and others — that truly matters" "We are glad to see people are realizing that love isn't just about looks or money, it can be about seeing, choosing and knowing someone else's heart," Tim tells PEOPLEA bride and groom have gone viral for their love story. Anita Wing Lee and Tim Muttoo tied the knot on June 21 at St. Andrew's Church in Canada. The eight wedding posts they've shared on Instagram showcasing their marriage and juxtaposing their respective 5'4" and 4' statures have collectively received more than 100 million views, with some people even speculating they were "AI-generated images." The newlyweds tell PEOPLE they first shared their love story online "just for our wedding guests," but after seeing how deeply it "made them cry and gave them hope," they were encouraged to share their story "more widely" to teach others that "love is about seeing and choosing someone's heart." "I have always believed in the power of media and stories to spread light and hope for society. When I find a good story, I want to share it," Anita tells PEOPLE. "Also, as a couple, we want to build something through our marriage that uplifts and inspires others. Sharing our story felt like the natural first step as we start a new chapter together." Tim adds: "As a humanitarian who's spent years working around the world and connecting with people from all walks of life, I've come to see that love is truly universal. Sharing something so meaningful to us felt natural because I believe that stories like ours can resonate far beyond borders."Despite them both working in East Africa in 2012, the duo wouldn't meet until nine years later in 2021 at a mutual friend's birthday party in Toronto, according to their website. Anita remembered "noticing that Tim's feet dangled off the edge of his chair," but "didn't think much of it at the time," and assumed he had to be "a good person" if he was friends with her friends. Although the pair bonded over their love for travel and humanitarian work after reconnecting in Ontario later that year, Anita was admittedly hesitant about pursuing a romantic relationship with a man shorter than her. "I had always envisioned myself looking up into my partner's eyes, but with Tim, that wasn't possible," she wrote online. Over time, Tim's feelings "grew stronger" for Anita, and he hoped their friendship would "blossom into something more." He "prayed often, asking, 'God, show me what to do.' " Meanwhile, Anita was praying too. She explained in a July 25 Instagram post that she "trusted that God had someone out there who could hold it all," but she "never prayed for someone tall.""You know how people write out lists of what they're hoping for in a partner? I never actually wrote down 'tall' because I just assumed God would bring me someone tall," Anita shared. "Ideally, someone 5 inches taller than me so I could wear heels and they'd still be taller." She "never actually added" height to her list because there were other factors that mattered more to her, such as substance, character and faith. As she got to know Tim, she realized that he was everything she was looking for in a partner. "But… he wasn't tall," she noted."And when I asked God about it, He said, 'Well, it wasn't on your list,' " she said. While in California together for Tim's H2O4all work in 2023, Tim expressed his romantic feelings for Anita. At the time, she didn't feel the same. However, Anita was later inspired to pursue a romantic relationship with Tim. "Because the external of a person is just that, external," Anita wrote. "It's the internal — the heart, the soul, the kindness, the way they treat you and others — that truly matters." In November 2023, Anita told Tim that she liked him as more than a friend. On Sept. 30, 2024, the two got engaged. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. The couple decided to share their story with the world "to inspire others to live with open hands and open hearts." "We've also been encouraged from some very heartfelt messages and comments we've received. It's made us realize just how many people might have lost hope in true love, and we're glad that we can help them believe that they are worthy of love — no matter what they look like," Tim tells continues: "Overall, we are thrilled to see our story go all around the world. We are glad to see people are realizing that love isn't just about looks or money; it can be about seeing, choosing and knowing someone else's heart. We are happy that we have helped people to initiate conversations about how they view and approach love." Anita advises single people: "If you're still waiting for your person… they may not look like what you pictured and that might be the best part." Prince Andrew and Ex-Wife Sarah Ferguson Spotted for First Time Since Bombshell Book Claims
The former couple were seen driving near Windsor Castle just days after shocking claims about Andrew emerged in a new royal biographyNEED TO KNOW Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were seen together at Windsor just days after explosive allegations surfaced in a new royal biography Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York by Andrew Lownie claims Andrew once got into a physical altercation with Prince Harry A spokesperson for Prince Harry has denied the allegations and confirmed legal action is underway over 'damaging and defamatory' remarksPrince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have been photographed for the first time since explosive allegations about the Duke of York emerged in a new royal biography. On Aug. 3, the former couple, both 65, were seen driving near their longtime home at Royal Lodge in Windsor, appearing pensive and somber. Andrew was behind the wheel with Fergie, as the Duchess of York is affectionately known, seated beside him as they headed toward nearby Windsor Castle for a walk. The former couple, who share daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, divorced in 1996 after a decade of marriage, but remain close. The outing comes just days after the Daily Mail published excerpts from Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York by author Andrew Lownie. The bombshell biography paints a deeply unflattering portrait of Andrew — alleging everything from a violent altercation with Prince Harry to lurid behavior involving convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Among the most headline-making claims: the book alleges that Prince Andrew, 65, and Prince Harry, now 40, got into a heated argument at a family gathering in 2013 that escalated into a physical fight, leaving Andrew with a bloody nose. The excerpt also alleges that Andrew later insulted Meghan Markle behind the scenes, calling her an 'opportunist' and casting doubt on the longevity of the couple's marriage. In response, Prince Harry's spokesperson firmly denied both allegations. "I can confirm neither of those things are true. Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make those comments about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry," the spokesperson told PEOPLE. The Duke of Sussex's team added that legal action is underway "Such are the gross inaccuracies, damaging and defamatory remarks made in the Daily Mail's story, I can confirm a legal letter from Prince Harry's counsel has been sent to the Mail," the spokesperson said. PEOPLE has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment. According to the excerpt, a "heated argument" between Prince Harry and Prince Andrew erupted at a family event in 2013 over "something Andrew said behind Harry's back." The tensions reportedly escalated to the point where 'punches were thrown' and Andrew sustained a bloody nose before the brawl was broken up. In another allegation, Entitled also alleges that Prince Andrew later questioned his nephew's relationship with Meghan, describing her as an "opportunist" and saying the marriage wouldn't last. Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York will be published on Aug. 14. A summary of the text said the book "exposes the secrets and scandals behind their extravagant lives and troubled marriage," chronicling his fall from grace in light of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. King Charles' younger brother took a seismic step back from working royal duties in November 2019 following a scrutinized interview with BBC's Newsnight about his alleged ties to the late convicted sex offender. In January 2022, the transition was made official when Queen Elizabeth stripped Prince Andrew of his military titles and patronages after he attempted to have Virginia Giuffre's sexual assault lawsuit against him dismissed. The Duke of York has denied any wrongdoing and in February 2022, settled with Giuffre out of court for an undisclosed sum. The Duchess of York has stood by her ex-husband's side through the turmoil and the former couple joined King Charles and other royal family members for church on Easter in April.
