Pakistan Air Force released images showing JF-17 fighter jets equipped with Chinese PL-15 missiles. (X)
India-Pakistan war: Amid the looming threat of an India-Pakistan war, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has reportedly equipped its JF-17C fighter jets with PL-15 air-to-air missiles. The PAF recently released pictures showing a JF-17C combat jet equipped with a PL-15 advanced missile, with experts saying that the image was meant to send a message to India that the country is ready for war, if it comes to that.
According to media reports, China has shipped PL-15 missiles to Pakistan in wake of the heightened tensions with India. Notably, China has delivered the PL-15 version meant for the Chinese Air Force, instead of the PL-15E, which is export variant of the ultra-long range missile.
Experts claims the delivery was made on emergency basis as the missile variants sent to Pakistan are likely from the stock reserved for the Chinese Air Force, which employs these missiles in its fifth-generation J-20 stealth fighter jets. How powerful is the PL-15 missile?
The PL-15 missile is an advanced, ultra long-range air-to-air missile, reportedly with a range between 200 to 300 kilometers, making it a major threat to the fighter jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF). As per reports, Pakistan has equipped its JF-17 Block III fighter with these long range missiles, enhancing the warplane's offensive capabilities, and making it more lethal than before in Beyond Visual Range (BVR) combat.
Pakistan's JF-17 Block III fighter jets are equipped with AESA radar, that enables the aircraft to easily track its target, and also comes with Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) technology, which allows the pilot to lock the target using his helmet.
The PL-15 missile has clipped wings, enabling it to be equipped in internal weapon bay of stealth fighters like the J-20, and integration with the JF-17 Block III, which comes with the advanced KLJ-7AESA radar, enhances Pakistan Air Force's ability to carry out long-range encounters, according to experts.
As per military experts, the PL-15 has similar range and maneuverability are similar to, and even surpass in some ways, West-made counterparts such as the US AIM-120D AMRAAM, which has a range of about 100 miles and is comparable to the European MBDA Meteor. Worry for Indian Air Force?
While PL-15 missile installed onboard the JF-17 Block III fighter jet is undoubtedly a major challenge for the Indian Air Force, but the IAF has counter measures for such advanced weaponry, as its Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, Rafale and Mirage 2000 fighter jets are also equipped with advanced BVR missiles like Meteor (150+ km) and Astra Mk2 (160+ km).
Additionally, the IAF's fighter jet fleet has more advanced radar and electronic warfare systems compared to their Pakistani counterparts.
According to defense experts, Pakistan would need powerful radar system and an excellent network support system, apart from experienced pilots to ensure that an advanced missile like the PL-15 is used to its full potential. They say that the Pakistan Air Force is lacking in all three of these fields, hence the PL-15 missile would not pose much a threat to India.

Operation Sindoor: Why Was Ceasefire Announced So Suddenly? CDS Anil Chauhan Explains
Last Updated: Speaking nearly 20 days after the ceasefire was announced on the evening of May 10, General Chauhan said that the decision was part of India's strategic planning India halted its military response to Pakistan's post-Operation Sindoor provocation after achieving all its objectives within three days, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan stated on Saturday at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. Speaking nearly 20 days after the ceasefire was announced on the evening of May 10, General Chauhan said that the decision was part of India's strategic planning. The ceasefire announcement, which came during the peak of the operation, had taken many by surprise and raised questions about the timing. Operation Sindoor was launched after midnight on May 6–7 in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. According to General Anil Chauhan, India targeted nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), killing over 100 terrorists, including Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Abdul Rauf Azhar. He added that the Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes that dealt a blow to Pakistan's air defence system and destroyed key air bases in Skardu, Jacobabad, Sargodha and Bholari. General Anil Chauhan said that between May 7 and 10, Pakistan retaliated by firing along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the deaths of 15 Indian civilians and one soldier. In response, the Indian Air Force launched BrahMos missile strikes on the morning of May 10, targeting and destroying Pakistan's Noor Khan, Chaklala airport in Rawalpindi. Following this escalation, Pakistan appealed for a ceasefire, which India agreed to, General Chauhan added. Speaking in Singapore, General Anil Chauhan said that India operated with complete clarity and autonomy during Operation Sindoor. He said that India adopted a long-term strategic approach after gaining Independence in 1947, at a time when Pakistan was ahead in several areas. Today, however, India has surged ahead in economic, social and human development—an outcome of that sustained strategy, he said. General Chauhan noted that despite several efforts to improve bilateral ties, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inviting Nawaz Sharif to his swearing-in ceremony in 2014, Pakistan has consistently responded with hostility. Therefore, he said, maintaining strategic distance is now viewed as the most appropriate course of action. General Anil Chauhan stated that the Indian armed forces remain on high alert following the ceasefire, with a clear message that any further provocation from Pakistan will be met with a firm and decisive response. He said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India's strength and its unwavering commitment to not remaining silent in the face of terrorism.

‘India hosts G-20, Pakistan hosts top T20 – top 20 global terrorists': Priyanka Chaturvedi in London
Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said on 1 June that while India is pursuing global free trade agreements, Pakistan, on the other hand, was promoting 'free terrorist agreeement' by hosting top 20 global terrorists. "...We had a very successful presidency of G-20... While we host the G-20, Pakistan hosts the T-20. The top 20 terrorists of the world will be found being hosted by the Pakistan state government. It's their stated policy," Chaturvedi said speaking in London. The 2023 G20 New Delhi summit was the eighteenth meeting of the G20 (Group of Twenty), held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, Delhi on 9–10 September 2023. The G20 New Delhi Summit was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India's presidency began on 1 December 2022. The Rajya Sabha MP is part of Indian delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, which also includes BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari, Samik Bhattacharya, Congress MPs Ghulam Ali Khatana and Amar Singh, former Union Minister MJ Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran. 'Right from Osama Bin Laden.... All of you must see the documentary. How he was taken out from Pakistan..... They shake hands with you but bite you in the back,' she said. Earlier, the all-party delegation interacted with the Indian diaspora at India House in London. During the interaction, the Members of Parliament reaffirmed India's united stance and unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms. 'We have just concluded a free trade agreement (FTA) with the UK. We signed with Australia some time ago. We are going to do that with the European Union, and with the USA sometime soon,' Chaturvedi said. As many as 26 people were killed and several others were injured in the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on 22 April. Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on 7 May as a decisive military response to the Pahalgam terror attack and targetted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. 'India is looking at trade, we are looking at economy, we are looking at commerce, while they (Pakistan) are looking at free terrorist arrangement across the world. That is what we need to expose,' she said. Chaturvedi said over 100 terrorists were killed in strikes under Operation Sindoor, warning they could have carried out attacks worldwide, and praised India's armed forces for their actions. 'Our armed forces have said over 100 terrorists have died in the strikes. You can imagine these terrorists were capable of carrying out 100 terror activities, not just in India, but across the world, so the world should be thanking the armed forces of India for doing what they did,' she said.
