Suspect who killed his cheating wife ‘knew he was going to jail' so he went out and murdered another man, cops say
Authorities arrived at a home in Ridgeway, Virginia after receiving a report just before 1 p.m. Tuesday that a man had been shot in the road. The man, later identified as 68-year-old William Leroy Morey, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
Morey was reportedly checking on 22-year-old Mandy Coleman, who lived at the home with her two small children. Police found Coleman dead from a gunshot wound.
Her husband, 30-year-old Joshua Corbett Coleman, quickly emerged as a suspect.
Police arrested him around 2:40 p.m. during a traffic stop and found the children inside the vehicle. They were 'safe and unharmed,' the sheriff's office said. Coleman was armed with a handgun and an AR-15 rifle, according to police.
Coleman admitted to the killings following his arrest, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WDBJ7.
He told police that he accused her of cheating on him during a tense argument before heading to his room, grabbing a gun, and shooting her in the head, the complaint states.
Coleman then took his two children with him in the car.
He 'knew he was going to jail' and decided to search for Morey to kill him, too, the complaint says.
After he couldn't man the 68-year-old man at his home, Coleman returned to the Ridgeway home to find Morey in the street and shot him to death, according to the filing.
The relationship between Morey and the Colemans is not immediately clear. An investigation is ongoing.
Coleman is now being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
He faces two counts of first degree murder, two counts of use of firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of shooting from an occupied vehicle, and two counts of child abuse.
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $2,500 in exchange for information related to the crime.
'This is a heartbreaking and tragic situation that has deeply affected two families and our entire community,' Sheriff Wayne Davis said. 'Our hearts go out to the loved ones of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.'

A jury has retired to consider its verdicts in the trial of a 61-year-old man accused of murdering his ex-fiancee at a luxury hotel in Surrey. But the relationship began to break down when Cartwright discovered 'highly sexual' messages from Ms Mickleburgh's former partner on her phone and later on her laptop, the jury has been told. Prosecutors allege Cartwright was leading a double life, and the court heard the 61-year-old had been dancing at a ceilidh with his new girlfriend the night before he allegedly killed Ms Mickleburgh. The jury retired at 12.26pm on Thursday.

New youth tech program in Camden County helping drive crime rates lower, officials say
Camden County leaders credit a new technology training program tailored to young people who are considered "at-risk" for helping to drive down crime in Camden to record lows. County leaders partnered with Hopeworks, a local nonprofit, to steer young people away from crime and train them for in-demand, technology-related jobs. James Horn, a program participant, said Hopeworks helped him on the road to stability after he spent time inside Camden County's Juvenile Detention Center. "You see your mom's face light up now, like, you're not getting a phone call, 'Oh yeah, press '9'. I'm not locked up no more,'" Horn said, referring to the automated call family members would receive when a loved one is locked up at the detention center. "You're getting a phone call, 'Oh yeah, your son is doing good!'" Camden County Police Capt. Vivian Coley previously only knew Horn from seeing his name in police reports. She credited programs like the ones offered at Hopeworks for contributing to the steady drop in crime in Camden over the last decade. "It gives us hope that we can turn this city completely around," Capt. Coley said. In the last two years, Horn received his high school diploma, a steady income and his driver's license. "I don't look at Hopeworks as just a job or a career building," Horn said. "I look at them as a family, for real, like they help me with everything in life." Teacher arrested for Arkansas double murder while getting haircut: Police
A suspect has been arrested in connection with a double homicide at an Arkansas park, after a married couple was found dead on a walking trail over the weekend, authorities said. James Andrew McGann, 28, of Springdale, Arkansas, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of capital murder in the killings of 43-year-old Clinton David Brink and his wife, 41-year-old Cristen Amanda Brink, Arkansas State Police announced Wednesday evening. The Brinks were "fatally attacked" while out hiking with their two daughters at Devil's Den State Park on July 26, police said. The children, ages 7 and 9, were not harmed in the incident. McGann was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. local time at a business in Springdale, about 30 miles north of the park, state police said. At a news conference Wednesday night, an official said the business McGann was arrested at was a hair salon. The official said McGann had recently moved to the area from Oklahoma and had been hired to work at a local school. Asked about a motive, investigators declined to comment, saying the case is still active and that it would be premature to do so. "Our entire state is grieving for the tragic loss and senseless and horrific crime that's taken place," Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, adding, "One of the worst experiences that certainly I've ever had was making a phone call to the Brink family earlier this week.
