Chinese delegation visits Tajikistan for international conference on Glacier's Preservation
Beijing/Dushanbe, June 1 (UNI) A Chinese delegation visited Tajikistan from Friday to Saturday and attended the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers' Preservation.
The delegation was headed by Shen Yueyue, vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairperson of the Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), who met Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, held talks with Faizali Idizoda, speaker of the lower house of the parliament, and attended the unveiling ceremony of the Health Express China-Tajikstan Blindness Prevention Center.
Conveying Chinese President Xi Jinping's greetings to Rahmon, Shen said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Tajikistan in the new era has maintained good momentum for growth.
China is willing to work with Tajikistan to follow through on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and push for solid progress in building a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future, she said.
Depicting China as a proactive participant and contributor in global ecological governance and glaciers' preservation, Shen voiced China's readiness to work with all parties to fulfill common but differentiated responsibilities, so as to build a clean and beautiful world.
Asking Shen to extend his sincere greetings to Xi, Rahmon reiterated that Tajikistan actively participates in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and firmly supports the three major global initiatives proposed by Xi, and pledged joint efforts to build the China-Central Asia mechanism.
He also voiced willingness to work with China to deepen cooperation in various fields and international collaboration on issues including addressing climate change. UNI/XINHUA ANV SSP

Telangana: Singareni to venture into other minerals and crucial minerals field
Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) Singareni Collieries company (SCCL) Limited, a government-owned-coal mining corporation in India, has decided to venture into the field of other minerals and crucial minerals. We have already established consulting agencies and initiated studies on opportunities, said Singareni Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) after hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day celebrations held at Kothagudem. The central government also gives high priority to the production of key minerals, and accordingly, Singareni has decided to enter this sector, he said. Recently, an understanding was reached to jointly produce key minerals in Australia's Queensland as a joint venture company, not just within the country but internationally as well, he informed. Under this agreement, in addition to the 1200 MW thermal power currently being produced by Singareni Thermal Power Plant, we are planning to establish another 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal plant at the same location, he said. Similarly, in the coming future, we will set up another 1600 MW plant near Naini Block (Odisha) and with this, our total thermal power generated by Singareni will exceed 4000 MW, he said. We are also planning to complete two phases of solar power plants totaling 504 MW within Singareni, including a 300 MW floating solar plant above Manair Dam and another 500 MW floating solar plant above Mallanna Sagar, he informed. Studies have also begun on the construction of pumped storage power plants and wind power generation, he said. Near Manuguru area, at Pagiduru, a geothermal power plant has already been constructed experimentally and electricity production has commenced, the CMD said based on this, the management has decided to establish a 200-megawatt geothermal plant there as well. NIDEC inaugurates Rs 600 crore-export-oriented industrial plant near Dharwad
Dharwad, June 2 (UNI) A Rs 600 crore export-oriented industrial plant for manufacturing heavy-duty data centre equipment was inaugurated at the Belur Industrial Area near here on Monday by Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil. The state-of-the-art facility has been established by NIDEC, a global leader in the production of data centre equipment. The plant will manufacture 2 MW, 3 MW, and 4 MW capacity machines incorporating advanced technology from Japan and France, with products slated for export to markets in the United States, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside catering to domestic demand. Addressing the gathering, Patil said the plant, which has already created 800 direct employment opportunities, will serve the rapidly expanding requirements of sectors such as electric vehicles, data centres, renewable energy, battery storage, and general industry. He said that once the plant becomes fully operational, the workforce is expected to grow to over 3,000. The facility will also manufacture generators, alternators for data centres, EV motors for three-wheelers and trucks, as well as medium and low-voltage electronic drives. Underscoring the state government's focus on decentralising industrial growth and promoting development in North Karnataka, Patil noted that Karnataka has introduced several incentives and facilities under its new industrial policy framework to attract investment beyond Bengaluru. Trump and Xi will likely speak this week, White House says
WASHINGTON -President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping will likely speak this week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Monday, days after Trump accused China of violating an agreement to roll back tariffs and trade restrictions. Leavitt is the third top Trump aide to forecast an imminent call between the two leaders to iron out differences on last month's tariff agreement in Geneva, among larger trade issues. It was not immediately clear when the two leaders will speak. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday that Trump and Xi would speak "very soon" to iron out trade issues including a dispute over critical minerals and China's restrictions on exports of certain minerals. Trump said on Friday he was sure that he would speak to Xi. China said in April that the two leaders had not had a conversation recently. On Saturday, the U.S. Trade Representative's office announced it would continue to exclude certain solar manufacturing equipment and other products from existing tariffs on Chinese goods until August 31, offering a three-month extension while talks with Beijing continue. Bessent led negotiations with China in Geneva last month that resulted in a temporary truce in the trade war between the world's two biggest economies, but progress since then has been slow, the U.S. Treasury chief told Fox News last week. The U.S.-China agreement to dial back triple-digit tariffs for 90 days prompted a massive relief rally in global stocks. But it did nothing to address the underlying reasons for Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods, mainly longstanding U.S. complaints about China's state-dominated, export-driven economic model, leaving those issues for future talks. A U.S. trade court on Wednesday ruled that Trump overstepped his authority in imposing the bulk of his tariffs on imports from China and other countries under an emergency powers act. But less than 24 hours later, a federal appeals court reinstated the tariffs, saying it was pausing the trade court ruling to consider the government's appeal. The appeals court ordered the plaintiffs to respond by June 5 and the administration to respond by June 9.
