AFC distances itself from Malaysia's potential FIFA suspension
The allegations, made by Indonesian football pundit Justinus Lhaksana, better known as Coach Justin, suggested that the FA of Malaysia (FAM) had bypassed international eligibility regulations to field several South American-born players.
In his podcast "Bukan Bincang Sepak Bola Biasa", Justin accused Malaysia of using players with "fabricated lineage" and claimed FIFA could impose sanctions, including possible suspension until 2027.
However, neither FIFA nor the AFC has issued any confirmation.
AFC general-secretary Datuk Seri Windsor Paul dismissed the speculation, making it clear that any action related to eligibility falls under FIFA's jurisdiction, not the AFC's.
"We have not been informed of any suspension. Moreover, FAM would know first before anyone else," said Windsor.
"AFC has no information, as such matters come under the purview of FIFA."
The allegations surfaced after five South American-born players — Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Jon Irazabal, Joao Figueiredo and Facundo Garces — featured in Harimau Malaya's 4-0 win over Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on June 10.
Coach Justin also claimed that Malaysia's involvement in the ongoing Under-23 Asean Championship — a tournament organised by the Asean Football Federation (AFF) — was only possible because it is a non-FIFA-sanctioned competition.
But without any official comment or evidence from FIFA, the claims remain unsubstantiated and speculative.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) was unavailable for comment when contacted.

Foreigners charged with possessing nearly 10 tonnes of subsidised LPG
JOHOR BARU: Five Indonesian men were charged at Sessions Court here with possessing more than 9,560kg of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The accused, Muhammad Ali, 32, Zulfan Fauzi, 31, Nasrullah, 34, Marhaban, 31 and Adnan, 28, pleaded guilty to the charge before judge Siti Noraida Sulaiman on Friday (Aug 1). According to the charge sheet, the five foreigners were jointly found in possession of controlled items, namely 9,565.8kg of LPG cylinders, under circumstances that raised reasonable suspicion under Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974 for manufacturing LPG without a licence. The offence was allegedly committed at Jalan Sungai Tiram, Ulu Tiram at 7.05pm on July 28. They were charged under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 (Act 122), punishable under Section 22(1) of the same Act and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a fine of up to RM1,000,000 or imprisonment of up to three years, or both, upon conviction. For a second or subsequent offence, the penalty increases to a fine of up to RM3,000,000 or imprisonment of up to five years, or both. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry prosecuting officer Raja Nor Ikhlas Raja Ariff, who led the prosecution, requested a month to obtain the chemistry report and proposed that no bail be granted to the accused persons due to flight risk. The court fixed Sept 3 for the presentation of facts and sentencing, and ordered that all accused be remanded without bail. Earlier, ministry enforcement officers reportedly uncovered an illegal LPG storage facility at a warehouse in Ulu Tiram on Monday. Its Johor director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the operation, which was jointly carried out by enforcement teams from Putrajaya and Johor, led to the seizure of 1,357 LPG cylinders worth an estimated RM280,000.

Immigration nabs dozens of foreigners in raids on Pontian nightclubs
PONTIAN: A total of 29 foreigners were arrested for various immigration offences in an operation involving three entertainment centres here. Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the suspects, aged between 18 and 40, were arrested during an operation codenamed Ops Gegar, conducted at around midnight on Wednesday (July 30) in Pontian. 'A total of 69 individuals, including locals, were inspected during the operation. 'Further checks led to the arrest of 17 Vietnamese women, 11 Indonesian women and an Indonesian man. 'The suspects are believed to have misused their social visit pass and temporary work visit pass to work as waitresses at the entertainment centres,' he said in a statement on Friday. He added that the department also arrested three local men, believed to be managers and supervisors of the centres. Mohd Rusdi said the foreigners were detained under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering and staying in Malaysia without valid permits. They are also being investigated under Section 15(1)(c) of the Act for overstaying, and Section 56(1)(i) for possessing false or altered entry permits, passes or certificates. 'They are also believed to have committed offences under Regulation 11(7)(a) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for misusing social visit passes, and Regulation 39(b) for violating the conditions of their passes. 'Meanwhile, the three Malaysians were detained for harbouring foreigners under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,' he said. Mohd Rusdi added that a total of 17 notices were issued to individuals to appear at the department's enforcement division to assist with investigations. 'All detainees are being held at the Pekan Nanas Immigration Depot for investigation and further action,' he said.
