Ohio State football season ticket sales in 2025 nearly reach a recent high
The school sold 56,537 season-tickets to the general public, faculty and staff this year, according to Brett Scarbrough, the senior associate athletic director for ticketing and premium seating.
The total nearly matched last fall, when Ohio State sold 56,998 non-student season-tickets, the most in at least 16 years.
Expectations are again high for the Buckeyes, who are expected to be near the top of preseason polls due to be released in the weeks ahead and are led by two of the most high-profile players in the sport between wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Caleb Downs.
The Buckeyes also open with a marquee nonconference game against Texas at Ohio Stadium, a rematch of their meeting in a College Football Playoff semifinal in January, and host Penn State to begin the last month of the regular season.
Their five other home games are against Grambling on Sept. 6, Ohio on Sept. 13, Minnesota on Oct. 4, UCLA on Nov. 15 and Rutgers on Nov. 22.
They had eight home games a year ago, including the game against bitter rival Michigan.
Before last year, the Buckeyes had only twice sold more than 56,000 non-student season-tickets since 2009. They sold 56,484 in 2022 and 56,295 in 2010.

Sean Payton: Dre Greenlaw plays like Mike Tyson
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw made the most of the first day in pads at Broncos training camp. Greenlaw filled gaps and delivered hits throughout team drills in Denver and head coach Sean Payton said you didn't even have to be watching to know that Greenlaw was the one landing blows. Greenlaw was limited to two games for the 49ers last year because of injuries and a quad injury interrupted his first offseason in Denver, so one key for the Broncos will be making sure Greenlaw's healthy enough to deploy that physicality on a regular basis. If he is, facing an already tough Broncos defense will be even less enjoyable for opposing offenses in 2025.

Commanders put OL Nate Herbig on reserve/retired list
Veteran offensive lineman Nate Herbig is walking away from football. Herbig signed with the Commanders this offseason, but the team announced on Tuesday morning that he has been placed on the team's reserve/retired list. He will no longer count against the team's 90-man roster limit. Herbig spent the last two seasons with the Steelers, but did not play at all in 2024 after a rotator cuff injury. Herbig appeared in 17 games for the Steelers in 2023 and he started 11 games at guard for the Jets in 2022. The Eagles signed Herbig as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and he started 17 of the 33 games he played while with Philadelphia. Nick Allegretti and Chris Paul remain on hand as depth options at guard in Washington.

'I never once thought I needed to get out'
Jack Butland insists he never considered seeking an escape route this summer and Rangers remains the club "where I want to be". The former England goalkeeper lost his Ibrox starting spot to Liam Kelly during the final months of last term under interim boss Barry Ferguson. But Butland, 32, was give the gloves by new head coach Russell Martin for the season-opening first-leg win over Panathinaikos in Champions League qualifying last week and is determined to build on that impressive performance. "Has it been smooth sailing, my time at the club? Not for me personally, for all of us, no, it's not been quite as successful as we'd like it to have been," Butland told Sky Sports. "I never lost that, I didn't walk away from the season thinking, although some people like to try and make those stories up, that that's the end of it. "I was very determined that I will determine how my career goes here. "Obviously things can be taken out of your hands at times, but I was very adamant in the summer that regardless of what happens, what managerial changes, ownership changes, that I was going to come in and be the best version of myself and at least give myself the opportunity to have control of what happens next. "I hope I've managed to do that. I certainly feel fit and sharp and positive and looking forward to the season ahead at a club where I want to be. "I never once looked away from it and thought I need a change or I need to get out. "I need to keep my head up, stick my chest out and get on with it. That's the plan."
