Yahoo16-05-2025
Clouds Hill will be in episode one, in the third series of the BBC's Hidden Treasures of the National Trust, airing at 9pm tonight.
The hugely popular series shines a light on the experts and volunteers who look after the properties and collections in the National Trust's care. Returning to BBC Two and iPlayer, the series will feature other National Trust places in the south west – Dyrham Park, Corfe Castle and Lanhydrock.
Scheduled for 9pm, the programme will explore the work going on behind the scenes to look after the incredible objects and properties in the charity's care. The series introduces viewers to the passionate staff and volunteers who care for some of the 500 places in the Trust's care, all narrated by actor and national treasure himself, Toby Jones.
Clouds Hill, the small cottage used as a retreat by T.E. Lawrence or 'Lawrence of Arabia', has been cared for by the National Trust since 1937, following his tragic death 90 years ago this year. The episode explores whether a beautiful youth depicted in one of the paintings on display is in fact Lawrence. The painting by Henry Scott Tuke, an artist that Lawrence very much admired, hangs above the fireplace in Lawrence's tiny four-room cottage.
Following the painting as it is cleaned and conserved, the episode also captures the detailed research undertaken by Senior National Curator for paintings, John Chu, as he tries to discover once and for all whether the man in the painting is indeed Lawrence.
Visitor Operations & Experience Manager, Rachael White, says 'it is a beautiful painting and our team of volunteers have often wondered whether the painting had been altered to look like Lawrence, or whether it was actually based on him. It is great we now know – but you need to watch the episode to find out.'
We would also like to thank the National Trust South Dorset Association supporter group and the T.E. Lawrence Society for supporting us with funding towards the conservation of the Tuke painting'
Amanda Goodman, Commissioning Executive BBC Arts, says: 'It's a joy to bring another series of Hidden Treasures of the National Trust to life, showcasing all the intricate and specialist work going on behind the scenes. And to hear from the passionate staff and volunteers who help care for these incredible objects and buildings for us all to enjoy.'
Tarnya Cooper, Conservation and Curation Director of The National Trust, says: 'Each of these programmes provides access inside our incredible historic interiors, gardens and parks for everyone to enjoy and offers truly inspiring moments of curiosity, wonder and joy.
'Our conservators and external specialists spend thousands of hours every year looking after the places and collections in our care. Hidden Treasures of the National Trust is a brilliant way of showcasing their expertise, patience and passion.
'This series has particularly highlighted the research that goes into understanding the meanings of our collections, their places in our lives and their national significance.'
Clouds Hill is open to visitors on Wed, Thurs, Sat & Sun until 30 October 2025 for visits by guided tour. Booking is recommended to join a guided tour. Tickets can be booked via the National Trust website www.nationaltrust.org.uk/clouds-hill or by phoning the booking line 0344 249 1895.

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Officially Brings in Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Michael Mando as Scorpion — GeekTyrant

Spider-Man: Brand New Day just leveled up in a big way. With production about to kick off, it's been officially confirmed that Mark Ruffalo and Michael Mando are joining the upcoming Marvel Studios film, and it sounds like both will play key roles in the story. Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, a role he's been crushing since The Avengers . From Thor: Ragnarok to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law , he's been a consistent force in the MCU and it's awesome to see him now enter Spider-Man's corner of the universe. Mando returns as Mac Gargan, the character he first portrayed in Spider-Man: Homecoming . But this time, he's expected to go full villain and finally become the Scorpion. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gargan will be a major part of a big action sequence set to be filmed in Glasgow, Scotland. Word is that he's being transported in a DODC convoy when he's suddenly targeted by The Punisher. That's when Spider-Man jumps into the fray. Fans will remember Gargan's brief appearance in Homecoming , where he tried to pry Spider-Man's identity from The Vulture after getting seriously injured. He's presumably been locked up ever since, and while we don't yet know how he gets his Scorpion gear, it sounds like we'll finally see him unleashed. The film is shaping up to be an intense street-level brawl, and Marvel is clearly bringing in a strong mix of characters for that vibe, which include Jon Bernthal's Punisher. As the outlet notes, 'You can bet that, in the mighty Marvel manner, Spider-Man, Punisher and Hulk will all fight one another before figuring out who the real bad guys are.' Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently offered some insight into the direction of Spider-Man: Brand New Day , and it's exactly what fans hoped for after No Way Home reset the character's world. "I think there's a promise at the end of No Way Home , that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. 'Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with, for lack of better terms, street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events." He added, "So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we've never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic." Feige also teased what's inspiring the movie's direction: "That great cover. I don't want to say too much, but Destin, I will say too much, Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he's got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool." Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton ( Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ) and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Liza Colón-Zayas. The film swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.

Man Utd club shop bans supporters from printing names of legendary trio on back of shirts due to key licensing issue

Fans cannot print name of three legends on their shirt United do not own player trademarks Sign at club shop informs confused fans Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱 WHAT HAPPENED? Reported by Manchester Evening News, the three players in question are legendary No. 7s Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Eric Cantona. United do not own the trademark to any of the trio of former players' names, which means they are not licensed to print them on the back of shirts. THE BIGGER PICTURE The report states that this has been the case for several years and not just at United, as Real Madrid do not have the rights to print the legendary Ronaldo's name either, despite his status as one of the club's greatest-ever players. With this in mind, the recent craze around retro football shirts makes sense as it gives fans the chance to sport the names of their favourite players from the past on their backs, on shirts which were printed at a time when the player in question was at the club. In the case of Ronaldo, Beckham and Cantona, these shirts must be very rare to find indeed. WHAT FANS HAVE SAID United fans expressed their confusion at the licensing rule on social media. One fan said on X: "That's really weird." "Modern football just gets weirder," another added. A third said: "What if I call my son Beckham and he wants his own name on his shirt?" Another stated: "How can you copyright a name lol I'm pretty sure there's more people with those names." WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD? The Red Devils face Everton and Fiorentina in their final pair of pre-season fixtures before Mikel Arteta's Arsenal visit Old Trafford on August 17. Ruben Amorim's side will be looking for a major improvement on their unprecedented struggles last campaign and may look to complete further transfer business before the campaign gets underway.

Pubisher and Spider-Man Set to Clash in Reported Major Action Scene For SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY — GeekTyrant

The web-slinger is about to go head-to-head with Marvel's most brutal vigilante. With production kicking off on Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Glasgow, Scotland, new intel teases a major confrontation between Spider-Man and The Punisher . According to insider Daniel Richtman, fans can expect a high-stakes brawl involving a Department of Damage Control (DODC) convoy. "I heard that tomorrow they'll be filming a big action scene with Punisher and Spider-Man fighting over a DODC transport convoy," Richtman revealed. If Frank Castle is gunning for someone in that transport, it's likely someone he sees as deserving his lethal brand of justice. Naturally, Peter Parker won't let that happen on his watch. This DODC connection ties neatly into what we've seen in previous MCU Spider-Man films, where the organization has played a significant role in cleanup and containment. The presence of their convoy implies whatever or whoever they're transporting is a big deal. So who's in the crosshairs? Rumors range from Bruce Banner to Mister Negative, or even a smaller-time threat like Boomerang. Recent set photos show a military-style vehicle that might be DODC property. Some fans have pointed out a devilish logo on the side, which could hint at Mister Negative's Inner Demons making an appearance. Word is The Punisher will be behind the wheel of one of these armored rides. As filming kicks off, early reports suggest rehearsals are happening ahead of a full shoot on Sunday. So while we haven't seen Tom Holland in costume just yet, it's only a matter of time before Spidey swings into action. We did get a tease of the costume, though! And while bringing The Punisher into Spider-Man's world is a big and exciting move, don't hold your breath for Charlie Cox's Daredevil to join the mix just yet. That team-up might be off the table for now. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters July 31, 2026.
