
White House says Trump sent a letter to Powell urging him to cut interest rates
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump sent a letter to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell urging him to cut interest rates.
During a press briefing, Leavitt displayed a handwritten note from Trump to Powell on a sheet listing borrowing costs in more than 20 countries. She said Trump believes interest rates should be lowered to around one percent.
