Ramanan Denies Wrongdoing In PKR Polls, Dismisses Viral Video
SHAH ALAM, May 17 (Bernama) -- PKR vice-president candidate Datuk Seri R Ramanan has denied any wrongdoing following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him handing cash to another individual in front of a business premises.
The Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives clarified that the video was an old recording and described it as a malicious slander resurfaced by irresponsible parties ahead of the party's elections.
'That happened after the Selangor state election. The place shown is right outside my service centre, and I was handing money to my own staff. If you look closely, the door clearly displays the Pakatan Harapan logo. So what's the issue?

'If we're willing to stoop to this level of dirty politics, it's very bad. This is slander… I hope those behind it learn a lesson. This is really bad,' he said when met after officiating the TEKUN Nasional Basic Entrepreneurship Seminar here today.
A 34-second video clip had gone viral showing Ramanan handing money to an individual in front of a premises before walking away.
On the ongoing party polls, Ramanan, who is also PKR's deputy information chief, said that all candidates should campaign with decorum, refraining from insults or personal attacks, and instead focus on grassroots engagement.

'This is a party election, not a general election. We need to really connect with the grassroots, meet them in person, wherever they are and listen to their struggles, grievances and hopes,' he said.
Ramanan also addressed backlash over a previous statement in which he expressed confidence that PKR could secure up to 80 seats in the 16th general election if Nurul Izzah Anwar wins the Deputy President post, saying that the remark had been misinterpreted.
He explained that the figure was simply an optimistic target, inspired by Nurul Izzah's proven track record in leading the party to win 50 seats in GE14.

Commenting on the cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming election, Hajiji said GRS remains open to discussions with the party's leaders. 'The last time I met the BN chairman (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) was before the fasting month. While political matters were discussed, there have been no further talks on collaboration or related issues since then. 'There is no issue with meeting; I have great respect for all friends, especially the BN chairman, and we are very open on this matter,' he said. PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet lauded the country's minority Muslim community for their contribution to nation-building. In his special greetings to the Muslims on the occasion of Aidil Adha, the prime minister emphasised their invaluable contribution in fostering racial harmony across the Kingdom. Pakistan's Asean dialogue partner bid to be discussed with regional leaders, says Anwar
PUTRAJAYA: Pakistan's bid to become a full dialogue partner with Asean will be discussed with leaders of the regional grouping, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. "It will be brought up for discussion at the Asean leaders' conference,' he told reporters briefly after performing the Aidiladha prayers at the Putra Mosque here Saturday (June 7). He said this when asked to comment on Pakistan's renewed efforts to elevate its partnership status with Asean. Yesterday, Pakistan's High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza Shah reportedly said that Islamabad is renewing its push to become a full dialogue partner, reflecting the country's commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and deepening engagement with the bloc. Pakistan, which became Asean's first sectoral dialogue partner in 1993, has consistently valued its cooperation with the regional grouping and aims to further expand those ties. In October last year, Anwar was quoted as saying that Malaysia fully supported Pakistan's efforts to become a full dialogue partner of Asean. Meanwhile, when asked about Pakistan welcoming his offer to mediate in the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, Anwar said Malaysia only hopes for a peaceful resolution. "I have no role to play, I'm simply offering my opinion,' he said. Earlier, Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, performed the Aidiladha prayers alongside nearly 15,000 congregants at the Putra Mosque. He then listened to the Aidiladha sermon titled 'Korban dan Semangat Kebersamaan', which emphasised the importance of intention, proper conduct, and sincerity in performing the sacrificial ritual.
