Body found in South Saskatchewan River identified

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Heywood Yu Saskatoon police say the man whose body was discovered in the South Saskatchewan River in June has been identified. The body was discovered south of the University Bridge along the east bank on June 22, according to Saskatoon Police Service (SPS). At the time, an autopsy was completed but investigators were not able to identify the man. He was described as five feet, nine inches tall, weighing 142 pounds with short, curly black hair and brown eyes and no visible scars, marks, or tattoos. Police estimate he was between the ages of 20 and 25-years-old. Police say they received tips and inquiries from across Canada and the United States since the body was found to determine the identity. Police say foul play was not suspected in the death and the man's family has been notified.
