Texas A&M flips 2026 four-star cornerback from Illinois out of Ohio
Texas A&M's 2025 spring game also serves as another opportunity for coach Mike Elko and his staff to host as many 2026 and 2027 prospects in College Station this weekend. The Aggies have picked up another commit for the second time today, flipping a 2026 four-star cornerback out of Toledo, Ohio.
Following the spring game, it was announced that 2026 four-star Illinois commit Victor Singleton has flipped to Texas A&M. He makes the 11th commit of the 2026 class and the first cornerback. This is a big pick-up for the Aggies, who will need depth in the corner position with several upperclassmen on the roster.
Before initially committing to Illinois, Singleton picked up nearly 30 scholarship offers from several Power 5 schools that showed interest.
On top of being one of the top-rated cornerbacks in the country, he was added to the 2026 Polynesian Bowl roster. His junior season ended with a runner-up finish in the state championship along with 30 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four interceptions.
A top-100 recruit, Singleton is currently ranked as the 57th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 5th-ranked CB, and the No.1 prospect in Ohio by 247Sports.

After finishing 2024 with an 8-5 (5-3 in SEC), Elko and company are seeking to rewrite the woes and demolish the stigma surrounding the Aggies' inability to close the season on the right foot. With some of the top-rated talent in the country wearing the Maroon and White in 2025, including linebacker Taurean York and offensive lineman Ar'maj Reed-Adams who rank in ESPN's Top 100 Players, Mandel believes that the Aggies are a true sleeper team heading into this season's ventures. "This is my SEC sleeper team. The Aggies quietly fielded the league's top scoring offense in conference play (29.4), and dynamic QB Marcel Reed figures to be more advanced. The backfield is deep, led by Le'Veon Moss. Yes, the defense has questions. But I like the Aggies to go on the road in Week 3 and upset Notre Dame." One Notre Dame player named to On3's preseason All-Transfer Portal Team
Notre Dame football went to the transfer portal this offseason to address its need at wide receiver, bringing in a pair of players in Virginia's Malachi Fields and Wisconsin's Will Pauling. The former Badger was named a captain on Monday, but many expect a bigger impact out of the 6-foot, 4-inch Fields. On Wednesday, he was named to On3's preseason All-Transfer Portal Team, adding more hype for the upcoming season. Fields had consecutive 800-plus yards seasons with the Cavaliers, scoring five touchdowns in each of those seasons. If he can bring that type of production with him to South Bend, he's going to have a big year. Yesterday, we found out that CJ Carr has won the quarterback competition over Kenny Minchey, so he now knows who will be throwing him the ball. Where do the Oklahoma Sooners land in ESPN's preseason power rankings?
The Oklahoma Sooners kick off their 2025 season in less than two weeks. OU will host the Illinois State Redbirds at 5:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 30th. The Sooners were unranked in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll, but they did slot in at 18th in the preseason Associated Press Poll. With the 2025 season beginning this weekend, ESPN released its preseason power rankings ahead of the new year. ESPN ranked the Sooners 23rd overall and ninth out of 10 total SEC teams in their top 25. OU was ranked ahead of Tennessee (24th), but behind Texas (1st), Georgia (4th), Alabama (7th), LSU (8th), South Carolina (12th), Texas A&M (15th), Florida (16th) and Ole Miss (20th). The Sooners' Week 2 opponent, Michigan, came it at 13th in the rankings. Oklahoma will face seven teams inside ESPN's top 25, with six of those games being conference bouts. Of those seven total games, OU is the lower-ranked team in six of them. The only Power Four teams the Sooners will face that aren't in the rankings are Auburn and Missouri. Oklahoma's Week 1 game against Illinois State will serve as a nice tune-up ahead of an absolutely massive tilt against the Wolverines in Week 2. That game is one of the season's biggest matchups, and could go a long way towards deciding what both of those iconic programs look like this year.
