Skye Stout shuts down trolls with memorable Kilmarnock debut

This was due to a skin condition and the club were forced to take their announcement post down after a string of vile abuse was aimed in her direction.
Stout received a heart-warming video message from Ally McCoist and also saw other names from the world of football sticking up for her, including former Celtic striker John Hartson and ex-Glasgow City midfielder Denise O'Sullivan.
Now, she has had the last laugh on the twisted trolls by scoring a beauty on her debut.
Her new Kilmarnock side faced St Johnstone today on the opening day of the SWPL 2 season and ended up comfortable winners, with a 6-2 scoreline.
Stout scored the fourth goal of the game, smashing it it directly from a free-kick from just outside the area.

Bob MacInytre suffers BMW Championship agony as Scottie Scheffler overhauls Oban hero's four point deficit

It wasn't to be for the Oban star who had held a four shot lead over Scheffler going into the final day of play in Maryland Bob MacIntyre was left reeling after Scottie Scheffler overturned a four-shot lead to reign supreme at the BMW Championship. ‌ The Scottish hero had gone into the final day in Maryland with a healthy advantage after a stellar display on Saturday but was simply no watch for the American in the end, who pipped him to the PGA title by two shots. ‌ World number one and three-time major champion Scheffler capped off a fine comeback with an exquisite chip-in on the 17th hole to edge him towards victory at the Caves Valley Golf Club. ‌ The New Jersey star's glory in 2025 is showing no signs of slowing down, adding the BMW title to the PGA Championship and Open Championship crowns lifted by Scheffler earlier this year. It turned out to be a disappointing final day for MacIntyre who bogeyed his first two holes and wasn't able to register a birdie until the third-last whole. The 2024 Scottish Open winner shot 73 in total, with Scheffler finishing on a 15-under-par total after a final score of 67. Maverick McNealy finished third on 11 under. Elswwhe Shane Lowry comfortably qualified for the PGA Tour 's season-ending Tour Championship for only the second time in his career while Rory McIlroy bounced back five birdies from the ninth hole for a level-par round of a three under total score of 70. Speaking after his triumph, Scheffler said: "I think my consistency has a lot to do with the intensity I bring to each round. ‌ " I try not to take days or shots off. "When it gets to this time of the year it can be a little bit tiring, today was a grind." Now THAT'S how to shut the trolls up! Skye Stout, 16, scores her first goal for Kilmarnock with stunning free-kick just days after horrific online abuse

The teenage footballer who suffered horrific online abuse from trolls over her appearance let her football do the talking at the weekend. Skye Stout, 16, was subjected to abhorrent comments after her unveiling by Scottish side Kilmarnock on Thursday - before the football world rallied around her. The Ayrshire club made the sad decision to take down the social media posts announcing her arrival in light of the abuse over her skin condition. However, there has since been an overwhelming number of positive comments wishing Skye well in her first season in senior football. Bouncing back in style, she silenced them during Kilmarnock Women's Scottish Women's Premier League 2 match against St Johnstone on Sunday. Indeed, the midfielder stepped up and scored a first-half free-kick to make it 4-2. Skye netted a free-kick during her side's 6-2 victory over St Johnstone on Sunday Kilmarnock posted on X: '37' | SKYE STOUT! 'Skye fires in a free-kick on the edge of the box!' She was also involved in her side's third goal, setting up team-mate Cara Gray. The thrilling game at Winton Park in Ardrossan finished 6-2 to Kilmarnock. Skye had played 62 minutes before being substituted to a warm reception. The trolling over her unveiling photos was first brought to light by football organisation Team Grassroots, who said the posts were deleted after a few hours. They said on X: 'Please send your love and support to 16-year-old Skye Stout from Scotland. And don't let the ignorant bullies win. 'Yesterday, the official page of the Scottish club Kilmarnock women's team announced the club had signed a contract with 16-year-old midfielder Skye Stout. 'A grassroots player signing her first pro contract should have been a moment to cherish for her; however, Skye was forced to endure ridicule from ignorant and disrespectful fans who began to humiliate her over her facial acne. 'Things escalated to the point where the club decided to delete all posts mentioning Skye Stout in an effort to stop the bullying from haters.' Underneath the post, a host of journalists and former players united behind Skye. Jamie Carragher wrote: 'Good luck Skye.' Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen added: 'BE THE BEST, Skye! Go get it!!!' 'Sending our support to Skye, good luck for the new season and an exciting first year in senior football,' Exeter City Women's official account posted. Former Scottish First Minister Hamza Yusef also voiced his support, dubbing the trolls 'sad' and 'pathetic'. He posted: 'Skye Stout has just signed for Kilmarnock. At 16 she has already achieved more than her trolls ever will. 'Imagine being a grown man abusing a 16-year-old? What a sad, pathetic, unhappy life these trolls have.'

The Review: Former Celtic prospect Tsoanelo Letsosa puts his best foot forward with Partick Thistle

Young Partick Thistle midfielder Tsoanelo Letsosa could be the best player in the Championship this season — as long as he remembers to bring his boots. The 21-year-old former Celtic prospect has been a breath of fresh air, on and off the pitch, since moving to Firhill from Belgian club Lommel in the summer. He has captured the imagination in all but one of his five appearances, the exception being a subdued display in the 5-1 defeat at McDiarmid Park on the opening day of the league season. 'He played against St Johnstone,' confirmed Thistle manager Mark Wilson. 'And he'll probably not like me telling this, but we thought something was off with him. He forgot his boots, so he had to wear the centre-half's boots. So, a lesson learned.' Not an ideal start, you might think, but Thistle will soon forget about that if the Lesotho-born player continues to be as bright and exciting as he has been since signing a two-year deal in the summer. Letsosa scored on his debut against Queen of the South, won the penalty that earned Thistle a point against Morton and caught the eye in their Premier Sports Cup win against Ayr United yesterday. That 2-0 triumph at Firhill set up a quarter-final tie at home to Celtic, the club with whom Letsosa spent six years as an academy player after moving to Scotland with his family at a young age. Capped by Scotland at youth level, Letsosa was highly-thought of at Celtic, but he rejected a new contract in 2023 and opted instead to further his career in the Belgian second division. The idea was to play regular first-team football there, but he returned to Scotland in July and the hope is that Thistle can be the platform he has been waiting for. While Dan O'Reilly and Logan Chalmers got the goals in a deserved victory against Ayr, it was the spark provided by Letsosa that many were talking about afterwards. Quite apart from having two good feet, a quick turn of pace and an eye for goal, he has an infectious personality that is endearing him to his manager, his team-mates and the Thistle supporters. 'He's brilliant,' said Wilson. 'What a character. Have you ever got to speak to him as well? He lights up a room and he lights up a pitch with the way he moves with the ball.' With his Celtic schooling, and his experience in Belgium, Letsosa has a good attitude to go with his natural ability. 'He was terrific today,' added Wilson. 'You could see how much ground he covers and his data backs that up as well. But he's got real quality. So, when he's on top of his game, he's going to be hard to better in this division.' So far, Thistle's league campaign has not gone to plan, but they have won all five of their games in a compelling Premier Sports Cup adventure. Letsosa and his team-mates have every reason to be excited about their sixth. Savvy Steelmen show there's life after Lennon As Motherwell have proved time and again over the years, the departure of a top player need not be a debilitating blow. Just as they dealt capably with the sale of David Turnbull to Celtic, so can they be expected to take Lennon Miller's record-breaking £4.7million move to Udinese in their stride. Selling players for a handy fee and rebuilding their team is nothing new to the Lanarkshire club, who understand and embrace where they stand in the football food chain. As Miller prepares to make a potential debut for Udinese in tomorrow night's Coppa Italia tie against Carrarese, manager Jens Berthel Askou and his remaining players have already moved on. Together, they have a team ethic and playing style that is more important than any individual, as St Johnstone discovered to their cost in the Premier Sports Cup. At McDiarmid Park, Motherwell passed, passed and passed again until it wore down their Championship opponents and bore fruit with an extra-time winner from Lukas Fadinger. The deserved 1-0 victory set up a quarter-final tie away to Aberdeen and, perhaps more importantly, showed a vision that should serve them well in the Premiership. Motherwell dominate the ball, have made some intriguing signings — playmaker Elijah Just is one to watch — and so far lack only the goals to show for their share of possession. But that will surely come, especially if they sign a scorer between now and the end of the transfer window. They can't say they don't have the money.
