Popular BBC quiz hands out £10k jackpot for first time in its six-year history

The Suna day ago
FOR the first time in its six-year history, The Hit List will hand over a £10,000 jackpot to a pair of contestants on the show.
The BBC One music contest will see hosts Marvin and Rochelle Humes present its biggest ever winning sum to the victors in the final round.

Contestants have to name ten tracks played in the studio, and the artists who recorded them, with just five seconds deduction time alloted to each.
If participants take more than that time they start having money deducted from the jackpot – but they don't lose a penny.
Tune in on Saturday at 5.45pm to see their delight.
The show's popularity has seen multiple celebrity specials with famous faces hoping to win big money for charity.
Several celebrities have also made appearances while trying to win big money for charity.
Some previous guests include ' Steps ' members Ian "H" Watkins and Faye Tozer, as well as future Strictly star Chris McCausland.
Dancer Oti Mabuse, former Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley and Inbetweeners star James Buckley have also all taken part in various episodes.
Having begun airing in 2019, The Hit List is the first standalone TV show as a couple for Marvin and Rochelle.
Speaking previously to the i newspaper, the couple discussed what it takes for contestants to win the challenging the game.
Rochelle revealed: 'I always say to them before the round starts, 'don't look at the money trickling down, look at me, I want you to win.
I took on The Hit List with Marvin and Rochelle but was left red-faced after 15 minutes of fame
'We've had people that just don't know the answer at all, and the nerves just completely take over.
"It's easier said than done, though.
SURANNE RELISHES PM ROLE
SURANNE JONES has revealed the lengths she went to to prepare for her role as the Prime Minister in her drama, Hostage.
The former Doctor Foster and Corrie star talked on the Table Manners podcast about taking the lead in the new Netflix thriller that drops next month.

She said: 'I don't think I'm allowed to say (who), but I did speak to three really high-up women from different parties, and I read their books and I interviewed them, and that was very exciting.
'I love research. . .
'I like to meet a lot of people and chat about the roles.'
Suranne also discussed working with a new on-screen family, who are all seen in the show starting a new life in Downing Street.
She said: 'Ashley Thomas, who plays my husband, who's a grime star.
"We did chemistry tests, and when he came in, it was just like, 'Oh, you're intriguing, handsome, lovely, smart, intelligent'.'

THE second season of Love Is Blind will air on Netflix on August 13.
The dating show features people picking prospective partners without ever having seen them.
Hosted by Emma and Matt Willis, the new ten-part season will drop in three batches every week until the end of the month.
STEPHEN'S BACK ON THE CASE
THE BBC and ITV are each launching their own big entertainment series within days of each other – and they bear a fair few similarities.
On ITV1, Stephen Mangan will be back with a second run of The Fortune Hotel in the first week of August.

The show sees players from all walks of life – including cleaners, content creators and carpet fitters – compete in an intense briefcase-swapping game, full of twists, to hopefully be the one to walk off with the £250,000 prize.
If that sounds a bit like The Traitors, so does BBC One's brand new show Destination X, which launches on July 30 and also has a whiff of Race Across The World.
Host Rob Brydon leads the way as contestants are taken on a nail- biting, wild ride
The players board a blacked-out bus where they are fed clues – and a few nasty red herrings – with one simple question at the end of each episode: Where in Europe are you?
A £100,000 prize awaits the winner.
But with the amount of Euro facts we'll learn during the series, I reckon some of us will win big at the next pub quiz, too.

Snoop Dogg joins ownership group of Welsh soccer club Swansea

Snoop Dogg has become a 'co-owner and investor' of Welsh soccer club Swansea. The former Premier League club, which plays in the English second division, didn't disclose financial details in Thursday's announcement, which shines a spotlight on yet another unheralded team from Wales after Wrexham's well-documented journey. 'My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,' the American rapper and entertainment icon said in the announcement. 'The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me,' he added. 'This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.' Snoop Dogg, who has more than 88 million Instagram followers, helped launch the team's 2025-26 home shirt last weekend. The club ownership group added: 'To borrow a phrase from Snoop's back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club's reach and profile." Luka Modric, who recently signed with AC Milan from Real Madrid, joined Swansea's ownership group in April. ___

New free channel is launching in just DAYS with four fresh comedy shows – but you won't find it on your TV guide

A NEW free TV channel is launching in just a few days with four new comedy shows set to come with it. The new channel will be entirely digital so you wont be able to find it on your TV guide. 2 Channel 4 is launching the new digital only channel with the name A Comedy Thing. It is set to bring four new unscripted comedies along with it when it launches in just a few days time. The new channel will be managed by Strong Watch Studios. All four of the new comedies coming with the channel were produced by Strong Watch Studios. The first episodes of the new comedies The Split, The Front Row, Joke Swap and The Lying Game are due to air on the channel when it launches. A Comedy Thing is set to launch on YouTube on Monday, July 21. It comes after Channel 4 successfully launched a new food channel called Channel 4 Served earlier this year. Charlie Hyland, digital commissioner at Channel 4, said: "Channel 4 has always been at the forefront of fresh new comedy. "This new comedy channel is built on a deep understanding of what people love to watch online and where we want to be creatively. "We're working with incredible talent, both on and off screen, to create a bold, diverse and brilliantly funny channel and our first shows are an eclectic array of comedy formats. Police Crack Down on Illegal Sky Sports Streaming: Risks and Consequences "From smart, quickfire jokes that grab attention, to longer-form, podcast-style shows where audiences feel part of the conversation, and classic panel shows that continue to resonate, we're genuinely excited about the range and quality of comedy this new channel will offer." New show The Split will see comedians pair up to decipher what side of a binary line public participants will fall in. The Front Row will see comedians compete for points by working with a studio audience to find out who they are through a Q&A game. Joke Swap will test whether comedy is all in the delivery with comedians writing jokes for ordinary people to deliver. The Lying Game will see comedians each tell an anecdote about the same randomly selected topic. They will then be tasked with finding out which two of them are lying. The shows' casts will include comedians Vittorio Angelone, Finlay Christie, Olga Koch, Gbemi Oladipo, Micky Overman, Mike Rice and Dan Tiernan. Thom Gulseven, co-founder of Strong Watch Studios, said: "We couldn't be happier to be working with Channel 4 and this group of super-talented comedians on this channel, it is a genuinely fresh, exciting approach to how content like this is made. "We love where digital comedy is at the moment in the UK, and what we're doing is trying to reflect that brilliant place through a bunch of games that tap into the things that people love on different platforms. "Part of the joy of the new way we make things is the freedom to respond to the audience, and how ideas evolve, change and grow over time; we're looking forward to seeing where this channel takes us." Channel 4's best competition shows Channel 4 boasts a number impressive competition shows, but which ones are really the best? Four in a Bed Reality competition show Four in a Bed has been airing on Channel 4 since 2010. It follows four couples as they take turns to stay at each others B&Bs and hotels, rating their stays along the way. The couple with the establishment voted best value for money are the winners. Come Dine With Me Come Dine With Me has been staple British viewing since 2005, providing some outrageous telly moments over the years. Like Four in a Bed, the series moves around to different properties as it follows four contestants as they each host a (supposedly) gourmet dinner party for each other. After each dinner the guests score the host out of 10, will the winner being revealed on the final evening. The Great British Bake Off Another national treasure, The Great British Bake Off welcomes a group of 12 amateur bakers to put their culinary skills to the test with Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith judging their efforts. One contestant is eliminated each week until the final three face off in the last week. Bake Off: The Professionals Bake Off: The Professionals puts a twist on GBBO, pitting two teams of professional pastry chefs against each other in every episode. It's up to judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden to determine who has what it takes to make it through to the final.
