"There's so much to the community and there's so much to the friendships that you build with these guys," Mahomes said, per Harold R. Kuntz. "The guys that I played high school football with and grew up playing sports with are still my best friends today. ... I think just building that accountability and building those friendships and knowing that football is a tool for me to go out and showcase who I am but it's not who I am. That comes from high school football and building those friendships and showing how football can be a special place for a community."

Trade Idea Moves Dolphins' Tyreek Hill to Cardinals

Trade Idea Moves Dolphins' Tyreek Hill to Cardinals originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In the immediate aftermath of the Miami Dolphins' final regular season game of 2024, which resulted in the Florida-based franchise missing the playoffs, wide receiver Tyreek Hill made his stance on returning to the team as clear as can be. Advertisement "I'm out, bro," Hill told reporters in the locker room after the game. A move out of Miami has yet to materialize for Hill, who has not made any public statements about wanting to leave since January and attended the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp this week. Bleacher Report's Alex Kay believes that will not be the case by September, as he suggests the Dolphins' front office should field calls with that of the Arizona Cardinals. Kay predicts the Dolphins' return package will include two draft picks – a third- and fourth-rounder in 2026. The financial ramifications of the deal should be incentive enough for Miami to move Hill, Kay wrote. Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (10) practices during mandatory minicamp at Hard Rock Navarro-Imagn Images "Hill's contract calls for him to earn $27.7 million in guaranteed salary this season, but cutting or trading him would result in a manageable dead money hit of just $12.8 million. It would also free up nearly $15 million in immediate cap room," Kay wrote. "With the 'Phins sitting on just $14 million in available cap space — the sixth-lowest in the league — a breakup makes plenty of fiscal sense." Advertisement Kay likes the Cardinals as an ideal trade destination for Hill because it would provide them with a one-two punch at a position the team has not pursued aggressively in the draft or trade market so far this offseason. "The team is on the rise under head coach Jonathan Gannon, going from 4-13 in his first season to 8-9 last year. The receiving corps still needs a jolt, however, as Arizona avoided making any major splashes in free agency or the draft at the position," Kay wrote. "While the Cardinals have a foundational pass-catcher in Marvin Harrison Jr. to build around for the long haul, adding Hill would give quarterback Kyler Murray the weapons he needs to contend in wide-open NFC West races this coming year and over the next few seasons." Hill, who was named to the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team, has put together a laundry list of accomplishments since his rookie season in 2016. He is a Super Bowl champion, a five-time First-Team All-Pro, and an eight-time Pro Bowler. Brian Burns, Shane Bowen Hint at Giants' Plans for Abdul Carter

Brian Burns, Shane Bowen Hint at Giants' Plans for Abdul Carter originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Giants, for once, have found a problem they are happy to solve. Trading for edge rusher Brian Burns ahead of the 2024 season and pairing him with first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux made for an explosive Giants pass rush. Only eight teams finished with more sacks, but general manager Joe Schoen added even more firepower to the unit. Advertisement With the third pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, New York drafted blue-chip edge rusher Abdul Carter, arguably the best player in the class. The result is one of the league's best crops of edge rushers, and combined with defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, one of the most talented units in the sport. This pass rush is the backbone of the team's hopes. Subsequently, optimizing three players for two spots is going to be defensive coordinator Shane Bowen's most important task this summer. During minicamp, the Giants hinted at their creative plans to unleash Carter on opposing offenses. 'Ultimately, we want to get our best 11 on the field, whatever way we got to maneuver to do that,' Bowen said, via team transcript. 'We got to find ways to get the guys that can impact the game on the field. Advertisement 'So there is some versatility there. With Abdul, he did a little bit of that stuff off the ball in college early in his career, so there is some versatility there and some versatility with what we could potentially do with Burns as well.' Carter has just a year of experience as a full-time edge rusher, playing off-ball linebacker for much of his Penn State tenure. That skill set earned him comparisons to his predecessor, Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons. In the same way that Parsons takes occasional snaps in the box, Carter could see extra playing time. Mugging the A-gap can get him favorable matchups on centers who aren't equipped to take on dynamos off the edge. More frequently, the Giants seem poised to use Carter (and perhaps both Burns and Thibodeaux) as the defensive tackle next to Lawrence. Used on passing downs, this gives extra potency to potential stunts and gets the team's four best pass rushers on the field at the same time. Advertisement 'Yeah, very, I mean, because you could do a lot,' Burns said. 'I mean, we're all similar but different in a way. You know what I'm saying? So, we can interchange and we can really add a lot of versatility to any of our third-down packages or just the game in general. So, yeah, it's exciting.' The pass-rush synergy that comes with an All-Pro defensive tackle, a Pro Bowler in Burns, and two other first-round picks is hard to fathom and nearly as hard to game plan against. Teams can't double-team all of them, and New York can comfortably send four to generate pressure. Burns summarized the Giants' surplus aptly. 'It's kind of like pick your poison. And then we have a Dex, so…' Related: Edge Rusher Rankings Set High Bar for Giants Related: Carter Reacts to Joining Giants' Loaded Line This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 12, 2025, where it first appeared.

Fact Check: Debunking claims Travis Kelce bought tiny diner from college days to feed homeless people

Claim: Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce bought a tiny diner that let him eat on credit during his college days, converting the eatery to feed 120 homeless people every day. Rating: A rumor that circulated online in June 2025 claimed Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, also known for dating 14-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift, bought a tiny diner that let him eat on credit during his college days. According to the story, Kelce turned the diner into an establishment that feeds 120 homeless people every day. For example, on June 11, a Threads user posted (archived) in part, "Travis Kelce bought the tiny diner that let him eat on credit in college — but what he turned it into now feeds 120 homeless people every day." (@robert_dimiceli32506595/Threads) Facebook users also shared this rumor, including some with the following caption: Travis Kelce bought the tiny diner that let him eat on credit in college — but what he turned it into now feeds 120 homeless people every day… Back in college, Travis used to eat at Elena's diner — a kind Mexican woman who let him run a tab for two years. Fifteen years later, he tracked her down, found out she was closing the diner, and quietly bought it. But instead of reopening for business, he asked Elena to cook again — this time, serving free lunch to 120 people on the streets nearby… Those Facebook posts featured links in top comments to articles hosted by WordPress blogs, such as one advertisement-filled story hosted on the website. The article identified the supposed former diner as Elena's Diner in Kansas City, Missouri, and the newer Kelce establishment as Elena's Kitchen. However, searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no news media outlets reporting any news of Kelce purchasing a diner or organizing daily meals for homeless people. Entertainment and sports blogs would have widely reported this rumor — if true — due to his prominent NFL status and relationship with Swift. Also, searches produced no results for any establishments in Kansas City with the names Elena's Diner or Elena's Kitchen. Rather, this rumor about Kelce simply existed as the latest inspirational story fabricated by users to earn advertising revenue on websites linked from the aforementioned Facebook posts. The story about Kelce resembled glurge, which defines as "stories, often sent by email, that are supposed to be true and uplifting, but which are often fabricated and sentimental." The AI image detector Sightengine found that a user managing AI software likely produced the photos of Kelce serving food to homeless people with a 99.9% likelihood. Both pictures showed clear signs of AI fakery, such as Kelce's eyes displaying odd discrepancies. The man Kelce served food to in the top photo had a very strangely-generated hand. A partial bowl, which made no sense, sat on top of the plate Kelce handed the same man. Further, in both photos, none of the food appeared identifiable. While the aforementioned lookups of search engines found no credible trace of this story, those searches did locate another made-up story claiming Kelce helped a diner from his teenage years, as opposed to during college. The headline of the similar fabricated story, also hosted on read, "Travis Kelce donated $50,000 to the diner that once fed him as a hungry teen — and the way he returned brought the owner to tears." For further reading, another Snopes fact check examined a rumor claiming White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt reconnected with and organized a fundraiser for her old high school's elderly janitor.
