US Army soldier charged with attempting to give tank secrets to Russia

A US Army soldier was arrested Wednesday on charges of attempting to transmit national defense information to Russia, the FBI announced.
Taylor Adam Lee, 22, an active-duty service member stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, was taken into custody for allegedly trying to provide classified military data to a person he believed was a Russian intelligence officer.
'The FBI's investigation revealed Taylor (Adam) Lee allegedly attempted to provide classified military information on US tank vulnerabilities to a person he believed to be a Russian intelligence officer in exchange for Russian citizenship,' said Assistant Director Roman Rozhavsky of the FBI's Counterintelligence Division.
Lee, who holds a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance, is accused of sending technical details about the M1A2 Abrams tank online in June and later attempting to deliver sensitive information on tank vulnerabilities in July.
According to federal prosecutors, Lee also delivered what appeared to be a piece of tank hardware to a storage unit in El Paso, Texas, and messaged the recipient, 'Mission accomplished.'
He allegedly stated online, 'The USA is not happy with me for trying to expose their weaknesses,' and expressed willingness to assist the Russian Federation.
The Justice Department said the information Lee attempted to share could have been valuable to Russia, particularly because the US has provided a version of the Abrams tank to Ukraine.
Lee is charged with violating the Espionage Act and attempting to export controlled technical data without a license, a violation of the Arms Export Control Act. Prosecutors have requested he be held without bond.

Suspect in Washington shooting of 'Israeli' embassy workers may face death penalty

Federal prosecutors say the man accused of fatally shooting two 'Israeli' embassy staff members in Washington, D.C. could face the death penalty if convicted. Elias Rodriguez, 31, of Chicago, is facing multiple felony charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and hate crimes, in connection with the May 21 shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum. The victims, Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and his 26-year-old fiancée Sarah Milgrim, were both employed by the 'Israeli' embassy. According to federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro, the final decision on whether to pursue capital punishment will be made by US Attorney General Pam Bondi. Authorities say Rodriguez opened fire near the museum and was quickly apprehended at the scene. Witnesses reportedly heard him shout 'Free Palestine' as he was taken into custody. He later told investigators, 'I did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza,' according to law enforcement sources. FBI Special Agent Reid Davis stated that Rodriguez acted alone, driven by political motives. 'Based on his writings and communications, we believe he was a lone wolf actor motivated by anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian ideology with the goal of conducting a mass shooting to call attention to his political agenda,' Davis said.

Russian strikes kill two people, injure 10 in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia

Ammon News - Russian strikes killed two people and wounded 10 others, including four children, in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region, Governor Ivan Fedorov said on Wednesday. Russian forces carried out 567 attacks over the 24 hours into Wednesday morning across 16 settlements in the region, Fedorov said. Zaporizhzhia has been on the front lines of the war that Russia launched against its smaller neighbour in February 2022. At least nine buildings were damaged in the early morning strikes on the Zaporizhzhia city district alone, Fedorov said on the Telegram messaging app. Zaporizhzhia city is the administrative centre of the broader region.
