Harmonious ties: PM Modi enjoys classical music performance in Brazil
He was accorded a warm ceremonial welcome in Brasilia.
Upon his arrival, he shared a unique moment of enjoying a harmonium performance along with the Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
PM Modi enjoyed the Indian classical musical presentation which used traditional instruments such as the Harmonium and Tabla at his ceremonial welcome at Alvorada Palace in Brasilia.
PM Modi appreciated the performance and greeted the performers with a gesture of folded hands.
The Prime Minister was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour. The national anthems of India and Brazil were played at Alvorada Palace.

PM Modi also received a unique 114-horse welcome at the ceremonial welcome at Alvorada Palace in Brasilia.
Earlier, PM Modi was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Brasilia airport with the Batala Mundo band performing traditional Afro-Brazilian compositions.
'At Brasilia airport, the Batala Mundo band played some wonderful compositions. Theirs is a global effort to promote Afro-Brazilian percussion, in particular the Samba-Reggae from Salvador da Bahia, Brazil,' he said in a post on X.
The Indian community in Brazil was also present at the airport to greet the Prime Minister. 'Landed in Brasilia a short while ago. The Indian community accorded a memorable welcome, once again highlighting how passionate our diaspora is and how connected they remain with their roots,' PM Modi said in another post.
After arriving at his hotel in Brasilia, PM Modi interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, including children who had gathered with the Tricolour to welcome him.
The Prime Minister also witnessed a cultural performance. He appreciated the artists and interacted with them after their performance.PM Modi will hold bilateral discussions with the Brazilian President on broadening the Strategic Partnership between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, including trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health, and people-to-people linkages. New Delhi: In a clear and stern warning to Pakistan from the ramparts of Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said terrorists and those providing them safe haven will be treated alike and that Indian armed forces will deliver a "crushing" response to the enemy in case of any future misadventure. Delivering his address on the country's 79th Independence Day, Modi, referring to Operation Sindoor, said the Indian military punished the enemies beyond their imagination and that India will no longer tolerate Islamabad's "nuclear blackmail" and will respond appropriately. The remarks came days after Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir's threat of using nuclear weapons. The prime minister also justified New Delhi's decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) following the Pahalgam terror attack as he described the over six-decade-old pact as "unjust and one-sided", asserting that "blood and water" will not flow together. Explaining the impact of Operation Sindoor, Modi said Pakistan is still "sleepless" and that the devastation in that country has been so huge that every day brings new revelations and fresh information. India responded to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 with several punitive diplomatic and economic measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor to target terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, triggering four days of hostilities that ended with an understanding between the two sides on May 10. "Our nation has endured terrorism for many decades. The heart of the country has been pierced time and again. Now, we have established a new normal: those who nurture and harbour terrorism, and those who empower terrorists, will no longer be seen as separate," he said during his 103-minute address. "They are all equal enemies of humanity, with no distinction between them." Highlighting India's "new normal" in dealing with cross-border terrorism, Modi said the armed forces accomplished something that had not happened in decades as they reduced terrorist headquarters to dust and turned terror infrastructure into ruins in response to the Pahalgam attack. "I feel great pride that today I have the opportunity to salute the brave warriors of Operation Sindoor from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Our courageous soldiers punished the enemies beyond anything they could have imagined." "On April 22, terrorists crossed the border and committed a massacre in Pahalgam, killing people after asking their religion, shooting husbands in front of their wives, and executing fathers in front of their children. The entire nation was filled with outrage, and the whole world was shocked by such a massacre." Twenty-six people, mostly tourists, were killed in the attack. Modi said Operation Sindoor was the expression of that outrage, adding the government gave the military complete freedom to decide on the strategy, targets, and timing of India's response to the Pahalgam attack. "And our military accomplished something that had not happened in decades. Penetrating hundreds of kilometres into enemy territory, they reduced terrorist headquarters to dust and turned terrorist headquarters into ruins." The prime minister said India has now decided that it will no longer tolerate nuclear threats. "The nuclear blackmail that has gone on for so long will no longer be endured. If our enemies continue this attempt in the future, our army will decide on its own terms, at the time of its choosing, in the manner it deems fit, and target the objectives it selects and we will act accordingly.

Sudarshan Chakra will neutralise aerial threats to India
The Sudarshan Chakra mentioned by the Prime Minister in his Independence Day speech is a complex combination of long-range radars, surveillance inputs from satellites, aircraft and UAVs, and long-range interceptor missiles that can neutralise any aerial threat coming towards India from its adversaries, according to people familiar with the matter. Simply, it is a multi-layered air defence network that not only protects Indian skies from enemy missiles, drones and rockets but also simultaneously retaliates to the attack and takes the war to the adversary. S-400 air defence system will be part of Sudarshan Chakra. Conceptualised by top national security planners and missile scientists, Sudarshan Chakra is an overarching security architecture that has come into fruition after Pakistan launched nearly 1000 projectiles, including ballistic missiles and armed drones, at India during Operation Sindoor . While some Pakistani missiles and drones were intercepted by anti-aircraft batteries and surface-to-air missiles, others were deflected from the main target by jamming the enemy's command and control network. The need for the Sudarshan Chakra comes at a time when Israel was able to neutralise 498 out of 500 ballistic missiles fired by Iran this year using the Iron Dome system. Given that Pakistan has developed a 2200 km range Ababeel surface-to-surface medium-range ballistic missile with MIRV (multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles) warheads, India needs an overarching system that neutralises all aerial threats—from Kamikaze drones to ballistic missiles—in order to protect its large landmass and civilian population. PM Modi in his Independence Day speech today said: 'India is launching Mission Sudarshan Chakra to create a powerful weapon system to thwart and attempt by enemies to attack us…..all public places will be covered by an expanded nationwide security shield by 2035.' While the Cabinet Committee on Security has already cleared DRDO's Project Kusha which is aimed at extended range interceptors for Indian Air Force and Navy by 2030, Mission Sudarshan Chakra is an all encompassing security structure where control centres will receive inputs from multiple sources including satellites and airborne early warning systems and long range radars to identify incoming threats and then take a decision to either deflecting the incoming missile outside population centers or use precise interceptors to neutralize them before MIRV warheads are launched or before re-entry of the missile into atmosphere, the people cited above added. While India has built significant advanced radar capability, it needs to develop multiple range interceptors of different range and warhead weight to tackle missiles coming at different ranges and different heights. In this context, it is important for national security planners to study the Chinese missile systems as the majority of Pakistani missile arsenal is either from China or from Turkey, the people pointed out. During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan fired Fatah I and II missiles at India but these were intercepted or deflected; it also fired Chinese CM 400 AKG missiles from JF-17 fighters at military targets but these were neutralized. This apart, Pakistan used Turkish Yiha drones with multiple payloads but all were neutralized by Indian air defence systems. According to top national security planners, Mission Sudarshan Chakra is not limited to defence but also has an offensive posture. India is developing short, medium and long range ballistic and cruise missiles such as Pralay and Nirbhay to target the enemy with precision. In this context, the Indian Navy will need long range missiles to target enemy ships from sea as well as land. Mission Sudarshan will be India's answer to all aerial threats with massive retaliation capability which bypass enemy defences and radars.
