UAE: Suspect in fatal hit-and-run arrested, to face justice in Poland
Sebastian M, a suspect in a high-speed crash that killed three members of a Polish family, was recently apprehended in the UAE, Polish authorities have confirmed.
The arrest was carried out in coordination with Polish law enforcement and diplomatic services. On May 24, the Polish Police announced that his transfer would take place within a few days to a couple of weeks.
The authorities announced the arrest on social media: "Yesterday (23 May this year), the wanted Sebastian M was arrested in the United Arab Emirates. The suspect will soon be transferred to Poland and will be handed over to the prosecutor's office."
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also commented on the arrest: "Sebastian M detained in the Emirates. Now, the Polish prosecutor's office will deal with him. I thank our diplomats and policemen who undertook this difficult operation."
Musk also warned fugitives attempting to evade the law: "Anyone who hides in a foreign country from Polish justice will sooner or later end up in our hands."
After a fatal accident on the A1 highway in Sieroslaw on September 16, 2023, the suspect fled to Dubai. The crash claimed the lives of a family of three, parents and their 5-year-old son after their Kia struck a traffic barrier and caught fire.
