Cashfree Payments supports over 140 currencies on upgraded global gateway
Payments company Cashfree Payments today announced that it supports over 140 currencies on its international payment gateway, becoming the first Indian fintech to offer the widest range of currency acceptance for Indian businesses.
This feature enables both one-time and recurring transactions on international cards. This upgrade aims to help Indian merchants expand business by up to 30 per cent, claimed the company.
Nitin Pulyani, SVP – Product at Cashfree Payments, said, 'The surge in cross-border payments signals a growing demand for faster, cost-efficient global transactions. With support for 140+ currencies, our upgraded international payments gateway gives Indian businesses instant global reach, better access to an international consumer base, and the ability to drive higher revenue.'
As India's e-commerce exports head toward a projected $200 billion by 2026, many merchants still face hurdles in going global—chief among them, the friction caused by currency conversion during cross-border transactions. For international customers, seeing prices only in INR can cause confusion and drop-offs, directly impacting customer conversions and revenue.
Cashfree Payments addresses this very challenge by enabling merchants to offer their global customers a seamless, localised checkout experience, said the company. Powered by its Pay Native feature, customers can now pay in their local currency while businesses get settled in INR.
Cashfree Payments was one of the first entities to be authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a payment aggregator for both domestic and cross-border payments (import and export). It is also authorised to issue prepaid instruments. Cashfree Payments currently processes $80 billion annually and works with 800,000 businesses, from internet start-ups to public enterprises.
In India, Cashfree Payments is trusted by brands like Swiggy, redBus, Zepto, Astro Talk, HDFC Life, and more. In addition to India, Cashfree Payments is expanding its footprint in the UAE and sees significant growth potential offering payments and related products across the Middle East.

India's urban buyers show stable confidence, expect brighter outlook: RBI survey
The Reserve Bank of India's latest Urban Consumer Confidence Survey (UCCS) for May 2025 shows that urban consumers maintain stable sentiments about the current economic situation, with a cautious yet improving outlook for the future. The survey reveals that the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI), which measures current consumer sentiment, dipped marginally from 95.5 in March to 95.4 in May, indicating only a slight weakening in how consumers view present conditions. Despite this, expectations for the year ahead have brightened significantly. The Future Expectations Index (FEI), reflecting optimism about the economic outlook, employment prospects, income levels, and spending capacity, rose by one point from 122.4 in March to 123.4 in May. This points to a growing sense of confidence among urban households across 19 major Indian cities, based on feedback from 6,090 respondents surveyed between May 2 and 11. This is the second consecutive survey round showing a decline in pessimism related to high prices. Most respondents now expect inflation and prices to moderate further in the coming year. Households also expect a decline in both price and inflationary pressures over the coming year."While there has been little change in consumer sentiment about current income levels, optimism remains strong regarding future earnings. According to the RBI, "Households remain firmly optimistic on future earnings even though their sentiment on current earnings remained around its March 2025 level."Spending habits mirror this cautious optimism. Although current expenditure on both essential and non-essential items has dipped slightly since March, consumers anticipate increased spending in the the survey suggests that while urban consumers feel only marginally better about present conditions, their confidence and hope for economic improvement in the year ahead have grown substantially. Canadian PM reveals why he invited PM Modi to G7 meet
Hours after inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to this month's G7 meet in Alberta, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney Friday pointed to India's status as the fifth-largest economy as a reason for the invite. Canada's action is seen as a step toward improving ties between the two countries, which had seen a sharp dip under the previous prime minister Justin Trudeau. 'As chair of the G7, it is important to invite the most important countries to attend to talk about important issues such as energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and India is really at the very centre of global supply chains,' Carney said during a news conference on Parliament Hill, as reported by The Globe and Mail. Carney also said that the most populous country in the world, with the fifth largest economy, should be present at the year's G7. The two countries had downgraded diplomatic ties after Justin Trudeau, the then Canadian PM, set off a political storm in 2023 when he alleged 'potential' involvement of Indian government agents in the killing of a Canada-based Khalistan separatist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India rejected the charges as 'absurd' and 'motivated'. On Friday, Carney declined to say whether he believed India had any involvement in Nijjar's death. 'There is a legal process that is literally under way and quite advanced in Canada, and it's never appropriate to make comments with respect to those legal processes,' Carney told. Carney, however, added that Canada and India had agreed to 'continued law enforcement dialogue,' though he did not confirm whether this includes cooperation in the Nijjar investigation. PM Modi had on Friday confirmed his attendance at the G7 in a post on X, saying he congratulated Carney on his election victory and that 'India and Canada will work together with renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests.' An Indian tech professional recently opened up about the mental harassment he endured at work, which ultimately pushed him to resign. In his post, he revealed that the mistreatment went beyond professional boundaries; he faced personal attacks involving his father and his marriage, leaving him with no choice but to step away from the job. The post begins with the techie saying that he joined the company as a fresher in 2022 on a CTC of Rs 8.5 lakh. 'From day one, the environment felt toxic and manipulative — you could clearly sense the unhealthy hierarchy and how everyone in tech was focused on pleasing a particular senior person rather than doing meaningful work," he said. In the 2024 appraisal cycle, the employee listed his achievements. He said that most of the management appreciated his work, but 'that one influential person didn't". The user said that this was because he was not one of those trying to please that person constantly. The employee resigned in April 2024, but was retained with the promise of being given a 55% hike one year later, that is in April 2025. This was only a verbal agreement with no written record. During the 2025 appraisal cycle, he got only a 37% hike instead of 55% as promised. However, this was not the reason for his resignation. The user explains the backdrop by stating that he got engaged in December 2024, married in February 2025, and lost his father in April 2025. During the appraisal, he had a one-on-one meeting with his team lead, who said, 'You should have resigned around your wedding, do you even realize how much your marriage delayed the work? Because of your father's situation and the leave you took, my timeline commitment couldn't be fulfilled." This stunned the techie. 'That was the final straw for me. I looked at him and said very calmly, 'Please watch what you're saying and think before you speak. Choose your next words carefully,'" he said. Finally, the employee resigned on June 3 without a job offer. 'I'm honestly unsure whether this was the right call — the job market is tough, and I'm not fully prepared for interviews yet," the user posted. The post saw several reactions on Reddit. 'Name and shame the company so that others don't have to go through what you went through," said one user. 'I know how it is to be under a toxic person.
