‘Let it begin': Rohit Sharma working with Abhishek Nayar with Australia ODIs on the horizon
Just days after Virat Kohli posted a photo of himself after a training session, fellow India veteran Rohit Sharma has also posted a picture of himself with former assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in the gym. Nayar reposted that with the caption that said: 'Let it begin'. According to PTI, Rohit has begun training with Nayar at a suburban Mumbai facility after taking a break of a couple of months from cricket following the IPL. Rohit retired from T20Is after leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup last year and then from Tests during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). This has left ODIs as the only format in which he plays international cricket and India next play one only in October when they tour Australia. Kohli has also retired from T20Is and Tests and this has led to a lot of specuation around his and Rohit's future with the Indian ODI team. Nayar was sacked as India's assistant coach in April this year after India's dismal run of form in Tests. Rohit is known to work with him on occassion personally and Nayar remains a reputed batting coach. KL Rahul had worked with Nayar prior to the recently concluded five-match Test series in England, in which he ended up scoring 532 runs. Considered one of the greatest opening batters of all time, Rohit has scored 11,168 runs in 273 ODIs at an average of 48.76 with 32 centuries and 58 half-centuries. He is the only batter to have scored three double centuries in men's ODIs and his 264 remains the highest-ever score by any player in the format. Rohit had led a dominant India to the final of the 2023 World Cup. However, while they were hardly challenged by any team throughout the tournament, India were thoroughly outplayed by Australia in the final and lost by six wickets, a result that Rohit admitted in later months took a big toll on him mentally and emotionally.

AP The 51-year-old Seles, who won her first major trophy at age 16 at the 1990 French Open and played her last match in 2003 Tennis legend Monica Seles opened up about myasthenia gravis — a neuromuscular autoimmune disease during a recent interview with the Associated Press. She first noticed the symptoms while she was swinging a racket the way she'd done so many times. Monica Seles's career includes nine Grand Slam titles and a place in the International Tennis Hall of Fame.'I would be playing with some kids or family members, and I would miss a ball. I was like, 'Yeah, I see two balls.' are obviously symptoms that you can't ignore,' Seles said. 'And, for me, this is when this journey started. And it took me quite some time to really absorb it, speak openly about it, because it's a difficult one. It affects my day-to-day life quite a lot.'The 51-year-old Seles, who won her first major trophy at age 16 at the 1990 French Open and played her last match in 2003, said she was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis three years ago and is speaking publicly about it for the first time ahead of the US Open, which starts on Aug. 24, to raise awareness about what is known as MG. Over the course of her career, Monica earned $15 million in prize money—equivalent to about $25 million today—and brought in a similar sum through endorsement April 1993, while she was playing a match against Magdalena Maleeva in Hamburg, Germany, Monica Seles was stabbed by an obsessed fan of Steffi Graf. The fan, Gunter Parche, ran onto the court during a break in the game and stabbed Seles between the shoulder blades. She was rushed to the hospital. While her physical injuries healed within a few weeks, Seles did not return to competitive tennis for over two years. 'When I got diagnosed, I was like, 'What?!'' said Seles, who is partnering with argenx, an immunology company headquartered in the Netherlands, to promote their Go for Greater campaign. 'So this is where — I can't emphasize enough — I wish I had somebody like me speak up about it.''The way they welcomed me … after my stabbing, I will never forget,' Seles said about the fans in New York. 'Those are the moments that stay with you.''I had to, in tennis terms, I guess, reset — hard reset — a few times. I call my first hard reset when I came to the U.S. as a young 13-year-old (from Yugoslavia). Didn't speak the language; left my family. It's a very tough time. Then, obviously, becoming a great player, it's a reset, too, because the fame, money, the attention, changes (everything), and it's hard as a 16-year-old to deal with all that. Then obviously my stabbing — I had to do a huge reset,' Seles said.'And then, really, being diagnosed with myasthenia gravis: another reset. But one thing, as I tell kids that I mentor: 'You've got to always adjust. That ball is bouncing, and you've just got to adjust,'' she added. 'And that's what I'm doing now.'

'Can you share Virat Kohli's number?': R Ashwin foils scam attempt by fake ‘Devon Conway' after IPL 2025
Ravichandran Ashwin recounted a strange episode post-IPL 2025, when he became the target of an unusual scam in which someone posed as Devon Conway. The veteran recalled the incident after a similar incident occurred involving Rajat Patidar, whose old SIM card was reassigned in Chhattisgarh, inadvertently leading to calls from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to an unsuspecting new user. Ravichandran Ashwin recalls an incident when a fraudster asked for Virat Kohli's number.(PTI) Ashwin shared that he got a WhatsApp message from someone posing as his CSK teammate Devon Conway. The chat began innocently, with casual greetings and talk about MLC matches to make the story sound genuine. Since he didn't have Conway's number saved, he initially thought it was really him. Ashwin grew suspicious when the supposed Conway suddenly asked for Virat Kohli's contact number. He didn't want to create any misunderstanding with the real Conway and decided to share a different number instead. "After the IPL got over, one guy messaged me claiming to be Devon Conway, 'Hi buddy, how are you?' and I also responded that we'll stay in touch. You're playing in MLC; I'll watch the games and all that talk. He then asked, 'I've missed Virat Kohli's number, can you share Virat's number?' I thought Why is he asking Virat's number. I thought I should ask him, but I didn't want Devon Conway to misunderstand. Then I picked Virat Kohli's card and gave him a different number," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. Ashwin bluffs the fraudster The veteran all-rounder revealed how the events that unfolded confirmed his suspicions, as he managed to outwit the scammer by cleverly calling their bluff. "Once I shared it, he replied, 'I've lost a few more numbers.' I asked him whose numbers, he responded, 'Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.' I got suspicious and then asked him a question, 'I gave you a bat this year, how's that bat?'. He said the bat is amazing, and I've not even gave him any bat, he lied and I blocked him instantly,' Ashwin added about the encounter. Realising the scam, Ashwin later confirmed it by checking Conway's number on the CSK official WhatsApp group and went on to block the scammer's number.
