Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02 will arrive next week, and it'll make things much easier for solo players
Elden Ring Nightreign patch 1.02 is on its way next week, making some improvements to the solo experience that should make it much easier for those playing on their own.
In a tweet, the official Elden Ring account said that Elden Ring Nightreign patch 1.02 will be released next week, "and will include several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions." More info is coming next week, but FromSoft has offered a few details about those solo offerings.
For instance, you'll now get an 'Automatic Revival Upon Defeat' option, allowing solo players to revive once per night boss battle, for a total of three revives over the course of an expedition. In addition to that, you'll get more runes in solo, but we've not got a sense of quite how many more runes - presumably it won't be triple, but you'd hope that it'll be worth the while of those players who do make the choice to play on their own.
As of now, however, there's no word on duos - Elden Ring Nightreign's Steam reviews are some of the lowest that FromSoftware has ever had, and one of the biggest concerns is the lack of two-player options. FromSoft has said it's considering a two-player mode for post-launch support, but that's likely to be some way down the line. Thankfully, there is one option - a two-player Elden Ring Nightreign mod from the creator of Dark Souls and Armored Ring multiplayer mods - but that's only useful for PC players who are happy to tinker.
By the way, if you're wondering why this is Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02 and not 1.01, that's because the latter has already been released. Elden Ring Nightreign patch 1.01 dropped before the game was even out, but it was a relatively vague mix of character improvements and balance adjustments, and we don't yet actually know what it changed.

Two Fantastic Classic D&D PC Games Just Got Re-Released On Steam
I forgive you if you never got a chance to play 2004's Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone or 2005's Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard back in the day. However, now that they're widely accessible on Steam for just $9 each, there are far fewer excuses to keep putting off these two excellent D&D games that each deserve more love. Thanks to the retro revivalists at SNEG, both games are now available as of this week on Steam—although neither seem to have official Steam Deck compatibility ratings. For what it's worth though, I did see one user review for Demon Stone already mention it runs great on Steam Deck. From the looks of it, they're basically just like they were two decades ago and don't have any real enhancements or meaningful changes. These releases surprised me a bit because, at least personally, I had no idea these were coming. Following on the heels of other D&D re-releases like Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition from Aspyr just a few weeks ago, it's a good time to be a fantasy fan. D&D Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone—Classic Action I actually still own a PS2 copy of Demon Stone and despite some jank and rough bits around the edges, it's an extremely fun and addictive hack 'n' slash action game set in the iconic D&D Forgotten Realms. The action is presented from mostly fixed camera angles and feature combo-based action gameplay. Everything from the button inputs, on-screen font, game flow and feel, and general mechanics feel like they were lifted right out of the LOTR games. To be clear: I mean that as a compliment. The main thing Demon Stone does differently, other than the setting obviously, is that it has you switching between a small band of adventurers throughout the game as the narrative unfolds rather than picking individual characters to level up on each stage. Honestly, it's a really good time. For this re-release we're getting a smoother startup and smoother gameplay, actual widescreen scaling support, borderless and windowed modes, better shadows, Xinput controller support with rumble, and some more in-game settings for modern computers. Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard—An Innovative D&D RTS This one I know far less about and have never actually played for myself, but I do remember seeing it around back in the day and had a friend that played every RTS and RTS-adjacent game he could get his hands on. He said it was good, so it must be good. Rather than being a strict RTS, Dragonshard is more of a hybrid game that mixes in lots of RPG elements as well. As you direct your troops across the overworld, you'll also manage smaller parties that delve below ground to battle beasts in more fast-paced combat. The loot you gather here will affect your armies above ground as well. In a way, it's a bit like two interconnected games in one. With Dragonshard, SNEG added modern resolution support, localization-friendly saves and profiles, smoother timers and physics, ASLR compatibility, and a few other under-the-hood improvements to help it run a bit better. SNEG has been hard at work bringing back the classics. Coming up in September, they're also re-releasing 2003's The Temple of Elemental Evil, an iconic party-based D&D CRPG similar in gameplay to the likes of other classical isometric games of the era like Baldur's Gate 1 and Baldur's Gate 2. You can also snag their massive D&D Classics bundle as well which has dozens of old D&D PC games across the Silver Box Classics, Gold Box Classics, and many others.

Steam's censorship issues have broken PayPal support in some regions
If you've been unable to pay with PayPal on Steam, Valve says the limitation has to do with issues one of PayPal's banking partners has with content on the platform, according to Rock Paper Shotgun . Users have noticed PayPal was disabled in some regions as far back as July, and the issue seems like it might be out of both Valve and PayPal's hands. "In early July 2025, PayPal notified Valve that their acquiring bank for payment transactions in certain currencies was immediately terminating the processing of any transactions related to Steam," Valve writes in a Steam Support page. "This affects Steam purchases using PayPal in currencies other than EUR, CAD, GBP, JPY, AUD and USD." In a statement to Rock Paper Shotgun , Valve further clarified that the bank's decision to withdraw support for Steam transactions through PayPal was made "regarding content on Steam, related to what we've previously commented on surrounding Mastercard." Opting to terminate Steam transactions means that PayPal had to be disabled as a payment method for multiple currencies. Engadget has contacted Valve and PayPal for more information on which regions this change impacts, and what other payment options will be available to them. We'll update this article if we hear back. Valve says it want to offer PayPal payments in those unsupported currencies in the future, "but the timeline is uncertain." What does seem clear, based on Valve's deliberate association, is that this PayPal issue is part of the ongoing censorship battle being waged on Steam and Multiple games were delisted from Steam in July because they failed to meet new guidelines that require games abide by the standards and policies of payment processors. Because certain NSFW games didn't, they were removed. Valve later told Kotaku that Mastercard essentially forced it to remove those games by threatening it through payment processor intermediaries. And Mastercard was reportedly pressured to do so in the first place by conservative activists who took issue with certain sexually explicit games on Steam. In this case, a bank that works with PayPal is the weak link, rather than Steam or a payment network, but it's entirely possible that acquiring bank is responding to a similar kind of pressure.

Walmart just ripped and tore $25 off the price of the DOOM: The Dark Ages Xbox controller

The special edition Xbox Series X Core controller that's been decorated with the DOOM Slayer's armor has dropped by $25 at Walmart. Since it's more expensive than a lot of the other Core controller colorways, now is the time to grab one of the best Xbox Series X controller designs going. The reason I say that it doesn't look like you have much time is that the Walmart listing says there are only 7 left at the time of writing. These warnings on retail pages aren't always trustworthy, but seeing as this particular product is out of stock at Amazon, I'm inclined to believe that this one might be running out. Elsewhere, at Best Buy, you can grab it for its full $79.99 price, but Walmart is the only retailer currently stocking it for $54. A lot of DualSense and Xbox controller limited editions don't exactly commit very hard to their franchise or game. This usually means that the controller just looks sort of ordinary, with a custom color scheme and a few tiny details that represent a certain game. This DOOM Slayer livery isn't afraid to be bold, complete with some 3D textures on it that really set it apart from the rest of the Wireless controller designs. As a result, it actually does look like an authentic recreation of DOOM guy's armor, which I'm sure many people will appreciate having played the new DOOM: The Dark Ages. Alongside the more obvious parts, this controller also has the finer details a true fan would want. The glyphs on the buttons aren't your standard ABXY, and there's even a beautiful blood splatter - because DOOM Slayer's armor has never been clean. If I were you, I wouldn't wait around on this one. If you fancy the look of this controller but have been put off by the price, now is the time to sling your grapple hook at it and reel it in. The only thing I'd advise is that if you want anything more than a standard Xbox controller, maybe look elsewhere.
