RM200m smart parking plan rolls out Aug 1, outsourcing here to stay, says Selangor
Ng said the implementation of concessionary parking management, which will be signed and enforced on Aug 1, will improve the existing system.
'This (privatisation) has its pros and cons, so this time the state is ensuring a win-win situation by adopting the approach of using Smart Intelligent Parking (SIP), with the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated or Selangor MBI playing a role in parking management,' he said at his office at the Selangor State Secretariat Building (SUK) yesterday.
Ng said the decision to implement the management system stemmed from the 33rd/2024 State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN) which convened on Nov 28, 2024, and was confirmed in the 34th/2024 MMKN on Dec 6, 2024.
'The Selangor government agreed in principle to implement parking management (TLK) through a collaboration between the Selangor MBI and private companies.
'Then the 12th/MMKN 2025 on April 23, 2025, confirmed by the 13th/MMKN 2025 on April 30, 2025, agreed that a wholly owned subsidiary under the MBI Group, namely Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd, be appointed to implement the Smart TLK management in the state of Selangor,' he said.
Meanwhile, Ng said the Smart Parking model would involve a tripartite collaboration between the local authority (PBT) as the body determining policy, payment rates and parking zones, Rantaian Mesra as the system coordinator responsible for technical reporting, and the concessionaire appointed.
'This implementation will be formalised through a tripartite agreement between the specific PBT, the concessionaire and Rantaian Mesa Sdn. Bhd to define clearly each party's role, scope and responsibility that comply with the prescribed governance,' he said.
Ng said the concessionaire would invest RM200 million for the Smart Parking Infrastructure, including the installation of 1,800 closed-circuit cameras in the four PBTs involved in the first phase.
Meanwhile, he said enforcement remained under the jurisdiction of the PBT as provided for in the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171).
He explained that the concessionaire was only responsible for system maintenance, payment of staff salaries (emoluments) while all enforcement action, including the issuing of compound notices, would still be carried out by PBT officers.

Ancom Nylex's FY2025 net profit drops to RM63.49m on freight, forex headwinds
KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — Ancom Nylex Bhd's net profit for the financial year ended May 31, 2025 (FY2025) slipped to RM63.49 million compared to RM81.47 million recorded in FY2024. Revenue fell to RM1.87 billion from RM1.99 billion previously, the group said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today. Ancom said the lower revenue was largely due to softer contributions from the industrial chemicals segment caused by lower selling prices and volumes, while weaker net profit was chiefly attributed to elevated freight costs and unfavourable foreign exchange (forex) fluctuations. Its managing director and group chief executive officer, Datuk Lee Cheun Wei, said FY2025 has been a demanding year, marked by key geopolitical events that led to elevated freight costs and unfavourable forex fluctuations, which in turn impacted the overall performance. 'Escalating tariffs and volatile trade conditions could further affect both global and domestic economic projections, making it increasingly challenging to anticipate trends in raw material costs and market prices. 'Despite these headwinds, Malaysia's economic growth is anticipated to remain positive over the next 12 months, with potential for further advancement should global conditions stabilise,' he said. For the fourth quarter ended May 31, 2025 (4Q 2025), the group registered a lower net profit of RM17.071 million from RM18.44 million registered in 4Q2024, while revenue fell to RM459.4 million from RM487.2 million previously. For FY2025, the group has paid a first interim dividend by way of distribution of treasury shares on the basis of four treasury shares for every 100 shares, as well as a second interim dividend by way of distribution of treasury shares on the basis of one treasury share for every 100 shares. — Bernama

NationGate says MACC probe not linked to top brass, core business
KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — NationGate Holdings Bhd clarified that the investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is limited to its subsidiary NationGate Solution (M) Sdn Bhd. In a Bursa Malaysia filing today, the electronics manufacturing services company said that an order to inspect, search and seize under Section 31(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 from MACC was issued to NationGate Solution. 'To our best knowledge, the raid does not involve any specific board members or senior management. 'NationGate Solution is not a major subsidiary pursuant to the definition given in the Main Market Listing Requirements of Bursa Securities,' it said. It added that for the time being, the MACC raid is not expected to have significant financial and operational impact on the group. Previously, it is reported that MACC has raided the premises of NationGate Holdings' wholly owned subsidiary NationGate Solution as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of scrap metal smuggling. — Bernama
