RUSSELL MARTIN wants to assess every member of the Rangers squad in person before he sanctions and departures.
And that includes players who barely even kicked a ball for the Glasgow giants last season.

One such player who has been mooted for an exit this summer is defender Ben Davies.
He has been linked with a return to Birmingham City, after impressing there on loan last year.
The 29-year-old played 44 times across all competitions and helped the cash-rich Midlands club win promotion from League One as division champions.
According to Birmingham World, the Blues have opened talks with Davies regarding a permanent switch.
But it's understood Martin won't let the player leave without running the rule over him in training himself first.
Davies has a year remaining on his Rangers contract so the Ibrox club would be due a fee from Birmingham if they want to take him to St Andrew's.
The Light Blues squad came back for pre-season this week, and Davies was pictured among the group.
So far, Martin has signed Bournemouth full-back Max Aarons on loan but it's not without question that he finds a role for Davies in his new-look Gers team.
Martin also wants to give Kieran Dowell, who like Davies was loaned to Birmingham last season, a chance to impress.
He scored five times in 19 league appearances but it's understood he is behind Gil Vicente's Kanya Fujimoto on boss Chris Davies' shortlist ahead of their Championship assault.

Former Rangers winger Scott Wright and ex-Celtic star Tomoki Iwata are part of a Birmingham side with plenty of connections to Scottish football.
Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes is also part of the squad and defender Grant Hanley was on the books last season before being released this month.
The Tom Brady-backed outfit are also reportedly eyeing a stunning move for Kyogo Furuhashi.
After a £10million transfer from Celtic to Rennes in January, Kyogo has struggled for game time in Ligue 1 and the French club are willing to sell him or loan him out during the current window.
Kyogo, 30, has played only six games for Rennes since leaving the Hoops and he remains determined to find a team that would put him back in the frame for a Japan call-up.

Major Celtic target ‘arrives in Scotland' to finalise transfer to Premiership champions

ONE of Celtic's top transfer targets has arrived in Scotland to finalise his move to the club, according to a report. Brendan Rodgers has stressed the importance of building on his Double-winning squad, in order to maintain their spot on top in the domestic game and to push on in Europe. 2 Benjamin Nygren in action for Sweden against Hungary Credit: Alamy Last season the Hoops won the Premiership title, beat Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup final and advanced to the knockout rounds of the new-look Champions League. They did however lose the Scottish Cup final to Aberdeen and this season they will face a Rangers team spurred on by new owners and a new manager, and have the added hurdle of needing to navigate a play-off tie to qualify into the Champions League. Star winger Nicolas Kuhn could be on his way out, with interest from RB Leipzig, Como and Newcastle. SunSport exclusively revealed that Swedish attacker Benjamin Nygren was high on the Hoops' wishlist this summer. We then told you how he held positive talks with the Parkhead club a fortnight ago. All that was holding up the deal was the fact the player was on holiday and now, according to the Daily Record, the 23-year-old has landed in Scotland to complete the switch. Celtic will pay around £1.7million to land the Swedish international, who has been starring for Nordsjaelland in Denmark but only has six months left on his current contract. Copenhagen and Anderlecht were keen on him too and Nordsjaelland also fielded calls from MLS and Bundesliga clubs. But SunSport understood he always preferred a move to Scotland. Celts gaffer Rodgers has already snapped up Kieran Tierney from Arsenal and is looking to add further quality to his side. The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up It's unclear if Rodgers wants to play Nygren as a winger, No10 or a striker, but his versatility will give the manager options. The Hoops have also been linked with wingers Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sondre Orjasaeter. Japanese striker Shin Yamada is another name on their list. And the Parkhead side have been working away on a deal for Albirex Niigata defender Hayato Inamura. Former IFK Gothenburg sporting director Mats Gren reckons Nygren is better operating as a No10 and believes that is where Rodgers would get the best out of him. He told SunSport: 'When Benjamin plays on the right wing or as a No9, he can be effective. 'However, he is best as a No10. That is where all his qualities can be on show. 'Benjamin is an intelligent attacker. His left foot is fantastic and he can score goals and assist. 'His final ball is always very good and he can finish when he gets a chance. He has the lot! 'He is not slow but he's maybe not super fast, and that's the only thing you can say that he lacks. 'However, he is quick enough to get away from opponents and has very good vision and passing.' 2 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Newcastle look to sign ex-Man Utd star as part of stunning £140m triple transfer – but rule out move for Marcus Rashford

The Magpies have identified back-up targets should they fail to sign the ex-United ace EL OF A MOVE Newcastle look to sign ex-Man Utd star as part of stunning £140m triple transfer – but rule out move for Marcus Rashford Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NEWCASTLE are ready to launch a fresh raid for Anthony Elanga — as part of a £140million triple swoop. Eddie Howe is ready to pull the trigger on offers for Nottingham Forest winger Elanga, Brighton forward Joao Pedro and Burnley keeper James Trafford. And they will battle Chelsea for £60m-rated Pedro, while wrapping up £30m Trafford, after June 30. That is when a new window begins for Profit and Sustainability rules — in which Toon may be able to include around £100m in Champions League revenue. Elanga is Howe's top target on the right wing although the club are also exploring other targets in case they fail to land the Swede. Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey and Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo are also on the radar. Howe is a huge admirer of Pedro and missed out on him three years ago when he was at Watford before eventually landing Alexander Isak, who he now wants the Samba star to help support in attack. Brighton are willing to cash in after he was axed for the last two games of the season by Fabian Hurzeler following a training-ground bust-up with team-mate Jan Paul van Hecke. Newcastle's players are due to report back for pre-season training on July 7 and Howe, who also ideally wants a new centre-half too, hopes to have at least two new signings on board by then. As for goalkeeper Trafford, the Magpies have got the green light to press ahead and finally get a deal over the line. Christian Norgaard to Arsenal LATEST | Transfers Exposed Burnley announced the £4.3m arrival of German U20 international Max Weiss from Karlsruher on Wednesday, paving the way for Trafford to leave. The 22-year-old was set to move to Tyneside last summer. But that scuppered when Nottingham Forest insisted on Greek goalie Odysseas Vlachodimos going to Newcastle as part of the PSR-pleasing transfer that also saw Elliot Anderson head to the City Ground. Burnley have been quoting a £40m asking price for the 22-year-old, though SunSport understands Toon chiefs are confident a £30m agreement will get it over the line.

Rocky Bushiri signs a new three-year deal with Hibs

Fans favourite Rocky Bushiri has signed a new deal with Hibs. The 25-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract, which extends his stay at Easter Road until the summer of 2028. Bushiri was a key part of Hibs' successful 2024/25 campaign, becoming a stalwart in the centre of defence and popping up with important goals along the way. The DR Congo international's equaliser against Aberdeen was the catalyst for the Club's remarkable turnaround in-form, whilst he also scored an important goal during our historic run of results against Rangers. The defender, who originally joined Hibs in January 2022, has gone on to make 105 appearances for the Club, and solidified himself as a fans' favourite. Bushiri will return to First Team training on Friday (27 June, 2025) with the other players that were on international duty. On Bushiri's new contract, Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray commented: 'I am delighted that we've been able to agree a three-year deal with Rocky. 'Rocky played a huge part in our success last season not only on the pitch but off it in the dressing room too. As a character, he's a perfect role model; he always works as hard as he can, is consistently trying to push himself, and he's a real leader. 'As a player, it was clear to see we saw the best of him last season. He has the perfect physical attributes for Scottish football and was growing in confidence and developing week on week. 'We look forward to working with him and helping him develop further over the next few years.' Hibernian FC's Sporting Director Malky Mackay added: 'Unsurprisingly there were a number of teams interested in Rocky this summer, so we're really pleased he saw his future with us. 'We want to keep good people and good players at the Football Club, and Rocky is both of those. He'd a leader in the dressing room, cares about his teammates, and cares about the Football Club. 'He has great ambitions moving forward and a deep desire to play for DR Congo, and we want to help him achieve those. I look forward to seeing him out on the pitch again at Easter Road.'
