Rules of the Land Assignment (Amendment) Act to come into force this month: Revenue Minister K. Rajan
He was speaking after presiding over district revenue assemblies of Idukki and Wayanad at the fifth meeting of the Revenue department's 'Vision and Mission 2021-26' here on Thursday.
The Rules, he said, gave the people of Idukki the right to unrestricted use of the land. It would benefit not only Idukki but other districts too. It would mark the realisation of demands of the people in the high ranges for over six decades.
The government, Mr. Rajan said, was trying to fix the rules before September. Its interventions to address problems related to the title deed in Idukki district were continuing.
The Minister replied to submissions from Idukki MLAs M.M. Mani, Vazhoor Soman, and A. Raja who took part in the assembly, which also discussed issues related to title deeds
The Minister directed the Revenue officials to examine the applications and complete the procedures for distribution of title deeds even as the government attempts to end litigations related to title distribution.

Shivakumar announced in the Legislative Council on Thursday that the government had written to the Election Commission of India about preparations for corporation elections. Replying to a question raised by member Jawarayee Gowda T.N. about the implementation of the Greater Bengaluru Authority Act, 2024, he said, 'The delimitation of wards will take place by November 1. This is being handled by a separate team under the leadership of the BBMP Commissioner. We have submitted an affidavit to the court. We will issue a GO for delimitation of wards'. Replying to a member who urged the government to conduct elections early, he said, 'I completely agree with the suggestion.' The Council approved the Greater Bengaluru Governance (Amendment) Bill, which clarifies that the authority will not interfere in the functioning of municipal bodies in violation of the 74th amendment of the Constitution. Replying to queries raised by members - Govindaraju (JD-S), T.A. Saravana (JD-S), and H.S. Gopinath (BJP) - he said the amendment ensures that the government does not have any overbearing power on the corporations. 'Some people have spoken about ward restructuring based on population. As per the 2011 census, there were about 18,000 people in each ward, but now it would be 30,000. We will take members' feedback when we are adding new areas to the corporations,' he added.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday (August 21, 2025) reportedly refused to wear a skull cap that's typically worn by Muslims at the centenary celebration of the Bihar Madrasa Education Board, where Mr. Kumar was the chief guest. From 2006, madrasas were registered and given government recognition. Madrasa teachers started receiving salaries equal to government teachers, and equal salaries are being given continuously since then,' Mr. Kumar said.
