Manipur: Ban on internet service lifted in five districts
The Manipur government on Friday lifted the suspension of internet and mobile data services in five valley districts — Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur from 6am onward, officials confirmed.
Since June 7 (11:45pm) internet service was initially suspended in the valley districts of Manipur for five days including Imphal West, Imphal East,Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching of Manipur.
An order from Home department, Manipur signed by commissioner-cum-secretary (Home), government of Manipur issued on Thursday late night mentioned that 'in view of overall improvement of law and order in these districts and the inconveniences faced by the general public during such period of suspension of internet service, State government has decided to lift any form of internet shutdown in the territorial jurisdiction of these districts.'

The temporary internet ban was put in place due to concerns over public safety, potential loss of life, and damage to property, following the arrest of five members of a Meitei group, Arambai Tengol, including one of its leaders, Asem Kanan on June 7. Kanan was later formally arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal, on Sunday.
Police confirmed that the remaining four AT volunteers were released on Sunday night.
The government requested all internet users to refrain from any activities which may warrant any further internet suspension in future, the order added.
Since Manipur has been under President's Rule with state under suspended animation from February 13, this was the first time people of valley districts faced suspension of internet service in the state.
Manipur, which was torn by ethnic strife for close to two years after violence started in May 2023, has been witnessing fresh tension since June 7.

The report gives a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty and her family, bringing legal closure to the extensive investigation that spanned five years and multiple cities, including Mumbai, Patna, Hyderabad, Faridabad and Delhi. What Is Rhea Chakraborty Doing Now? In 2020, Rhea Chakraborty spent approximately one month in jail. She was arrested in September of that year by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with a drug-related case linked to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. She was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in early October 2020. She spent 28 days in Byculla jail. Since the investigation's conclusion, Rhea has gradually returned to public life. She recently launched her streetwear brand, Chapter 2 Drip, with investment from industry veterans Kishore and Ashni Biyani. She also hosts a podcast titled Chapter 2, where she speaks about life after loss, resilience and moving forward. What Is Happening Now? CBI arrests Mumbai resident in Operation Chakra-V, conducts multi-state raids in 10 locations
New Delhi [India] June 13 (ANI): In a crackdown on cyber financial crimes, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted multi-state searches under Operation Chakra-V, targeting cyber-enabled financial crimes. The CBI carried out extensive searches at 10 locations across Delhi, Hisar, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik in connection with a cyber-enabled organised investment fraud case. The CBI has also arrested one accused, a resident of Kalyan, Mumbai, after his involvement surfaced in the fraud. The accused was actively involved in supplying pre-activated SIM cards and mule bank accounts to cybercriminal networks, thereby enabling and sustaining their illegal operations. Substantial incriminating material was recovered from his possession during the searches. The case pertains to a well-orchestrated fraud where unsuspecting individuals were cheated through a fraudulent mobile application and WhatsApp groups. The perpetrators deceitfully lured innocent investors by promising shares of reputed listed companies at discounted rates. Once the victims invested their hard-earned money, the accused misappropriated the funds, causing significant financial loss to the public. During the coordinated searches, the CBI seized incriminating digital and documentary evidence from the premises of the accused persons, exposing the intricate modus operandi employed to dupe innocent investors. Amit Shah to inaugurate BJP training camp at Pachmarhi today
1 2 3 4 Bhopal: Union home minister Amit Shah will address the inaugural session of a three-day training camp to be organised by the state BJP for its MPs, MLAs, ministers of the Mohan Yadav govt, selected office-bearers and organisational workers in Pachmarhi from Saturday. The majority of the 201 party functionaries and elected representatives participating in the training camp reached Pachmarhi by late Friday evening. It has been made clear to all those attending the camp that they cannot use their mobile phones while attending the meetings. Sources in the party said that mobile phones will not be permitted into the meeting hall. Even ministers and MPs will have to leave their mobile phones outside the meeting hall. BJP national president JP Nadda was initially scheduled to address the inaugural session, while Shah was to address the valedictory function. But, now, Nadda will address the training camp, but it will not be the inaugural or valedictory session.
