Actor Darshan, Prajwal Revanna refuse to attend Independence Day celebrations in jail
Darshan was arrested on Thursday (August 14) following the Supreme Court's cancellation of his bail, while Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, has been in prison for over a year, and the Special Court on August 1 convicted him to a life term until his death.
Sources stated that both are in a state of depression following these developments and chose to remain in their barracks.
Sources further stated that Darshan did not sleep throughout the night in the prison.
According to sources, all accused, including Darshan, have been assigned remand prisoner numbers. Darshan's prisoner number is 7314 and Darshan's partner Pavitra Gowda's number is 7313. Pavitra Gowda is the first accused in the fan murder case.
The last time Darshan was arrested, many fans had created tattoos with his prisoner number, which sparked controversy and even led to police cases being filed. Currently, Darshan and the other three accused have been placed in the same barrack.
Meanwhile, film actress Ramya, who faced brutal trolling from Darshan's fans after she posted that the family of the deceased man Renukaswamy in the fan murder case should receive justice, reacted to the media by saying that Darshan should have kept better company.
'I have acted in films with Darshan. He had shared his story with me, and I had felt proud of his progress,' she said.
'Darshan had grown from being a stage light boy to becoming a star. However, his recent conduct has disappointed me. He has spoiled his life.
'When one reaches a certain stage in life, there comes responsibility. I don't know if he had good company around him. He could have very well moved forward in life with grace,' Ramya added.
Talking about the judgment, Ramya said it has brought relief. 'Society is moving in the wrong direction. My post on the protection of women and honour-based issues was trolled. This judgment will help society get back on the right track and sends a strong message that everyone is equal before the law,' she stressed.
Ramya also noted that Renukaswamy's family, who hail from a humble background, have finally received justice through the Supreme Court's verdict.

One charred to death, three feared dead in fire at Bengaluru market
Bengaluru: One person was charred to death and three others were feared dead in Nagarthpet, located close to the busy K.R. Market in Bengaluru, on Saturday. The victims were residing in a house on the fourth floor of a commercial building. According to police, the fire erupted suddenly inside the residence and engulfed the entire house within minutes. On Friday, a boy was killed and nine others were injured in an explosion in Bengaluru. The incident caused panic among residents and authorities, as people were busy with the 79th Independence Day celebrations. The deceased was identified as eight-year-old Mubarak. According to police, 12 others, including an eight-year-old girl, sustained injuries and have been admitted to various hospitals. Authorities suspect a gas cylinder blast, although locals claim the impact was much stronger than a typical LPG cylinder explosion. Police are continuing their investigation. On October 7, 2023, in a major tragic incident, at least 13 persons were burnt alive and four others were injured in the cracker shop cum godown fire incident that was reported from Attibele in Anekal Taluk on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

New Delhi: Fifty years after 'Sholay' blazed onto the silver screen, the rocky hills of Karnataka's Ramanagara district still seem to hold its spirit -- the tyranny of Gabbar Singh, the camaraderie between Jai and Veeru, and Basanti's never-ending chatter. The cult classic about two small-time criminals who are hired by a vengeful ex-policeman to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh was released in theatres on August 15, 1975 and forever changed Indian cinema. The action-adventure movie, directed by Ramesh Sippy from a script penned by iconic writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, was praised for its gripping storytelling, powerful dialogues and unforgettable characters played by Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan. For Ramadevara Betta, the granite-strewn hillscape in Ramanagara that doubled as the fictional village of 'Ramgarh', the film etched itself into the very soul of the land. The rugged terrain of Ramadevara Betta (hill in Kannada) served as the backdrop for Gabbar Singh's lair. It used to be a dense forest, but for the film, they converted it into a village. 'After 'Sholay', many more movies were shot here. Ramadevara became famous because of 'Sholay'. The shoot went on for three years. They built roads for filming and all the Gabbar Singh scenes were done here,' Boramma, who is now in her 50s, told PTI. Another local Bettayya said his parents worked on the sets during the shooting. 'I was 15 years old. My parents worked on the sets. I don't remember too many details of the shoot, but they used to give us good food. Dharmendra would give Rs 100 to the elderly. There used to be a narrow road to the betta, but they constructed a proper mud road for the shoot. Later, the Forest Department turned it into a tar road,' he recalled. 'Because of Sholay, our village, community, and district are still remembered in the whole of India. Our government has made all those places good tourism spots, and people come from all over India to see them,' one person said. They are also proud of the film's success and its lasting impact on Indian cinema. ''The film that was shot here fifty years ago has spread the name of Amitabh Bachchan and Ramnagar far and wide,' a local said.
