Goa Gujaratis protect centuries-old Lord Laxminarayan idol at Narve shrine as new one installed

Keri:
The descendants of Gujarati families, which had settled in Goa centuries ago, consecrated a new idol at their temple at Narve, while devoutly protecting a centuries-old idol of Lord Laxminarayan.
In Goa, it is customary to immerse the old idol in a tank or a river while consecrating the new one. But at the temple at Narve, Bicholim, the old idol has been installed behind the sanctum sanctorum.
Mukesh Desai, the president of Laxminarayan Devasthan, told the media, 'The pranpratishtha or consecration ceremony was held for the idol of Lord Laxminarayan, which has been crafted by Vishal Acharya from Hillur near Ankola in Karnataka.'
He added, 'This moment is not only spiritually significant but also emotionally fulfilling in our shared journey to preserve our sacred heritage. For centuries, this temple has been the spiritual anchor for the Gujarati community in Goa.'
In his book, 'Hindu Temples and Deities', Rui Gomes Pereira said that the Laxminarayan temple was founded in 1650 by Sagar Sheth, hailing from Diu. Sheth had dreamed of an idol of Lord Laxminarayan lying in a lake nearby.

The idol was retrieved, and a temple was built by him with the help of the Gujarati community.
Temple trustee Narendra Shah, 80, told

, 'My family has been associated with this temple for four generations. My grandfather, Bhagwanji, settled in Goa around 1880, and was deeply connected with the temple.'
Shah said, 'My bond with this sacred space has only strengthened with time.'
Umakant Vishnu Petkar, an octogenarian priest associated with the temple, said, 'Grittli Mittlewalner, a German researcher who visited this temple, was fascinated to see the beautifully carved, unique stone idol of Lord Laxminarayan.'
He said his family has given priests to the temple for ten generations.
The old idol depicts Lord Laxminarayan holding the shankh (conch), chakra (discus), gada (mace), and padma (lotus). Goddess Laxmi stands by the lord's side.
Matsya, Kurma, and Varaha avatars of Lord Vishnu are placed to the right of the deities; and Buddha and Kalki to the left. At the top of the arrangement is a representation of Lord Shiva.
While renovating the temple, its double inner dome has been protected.
The intricate designs exemplify the craftsmanship typical of the Goan temple architecture.
Amey Kinjawadekar, a heritage enthusiast who visited the temple, said, 'The temple committee has done inspiring work in conservation. We are indebted to the Gujarati community for the steps taken for the protection of the vestiges of the temple.'
This year, the temple turned 375. To mark the occasion, the consecration ceremony was organised from May 20 to 23. Several religious and cultural activities were held, which drew Gujarati and other devotees to the temple.

TN Govt allows early morning release for Haasan's movie 'Thug Life' amid language row

The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday granted permission to the makers of 'Thug Life', the much-anticipated film by veteran film-maker Mani Ratnam and superstar Kamal Haasan , to hold special early morning screenings on the day of its release - Thursday, June 5. The decision was made following a formal request submitted by Raaj Kamal Films International, Kamal Haasan's production house backing the movie. According to the government's order, the film will be allowed to have five shows on the day of release, with the first show beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday and the last one concluding by 2 a.m. on Friday. Special screenings outside the standard time slots are typically granted to big-budget or high-profile films in Tamil Nadu , particularly when led by popular stars or renowned film-makers. The announcement, however, comes at a time when 'Thug Life' is facing controversy over a statement made by Kamal Haasan during the film's audio launch. The actor-politician claimed that "Kannada is born out of Tamil," a remark that sparked strong reactions in Karnataka . The Karnataka High Court recently suggested that Kamal issue an apology, but the star has refused to do so. However, the superstar wrote a letter to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday stating that the row over his remarks on origins of Kannada language is a result of a misunderstanding. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Council or Housing Association Tenant? The gangster drama features a star-studded cast, including Silambarasan T.R. in a key role, alongside Trisha, Nasser, Joju George, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi , Sanya Malhotra, and Ali Fazal. The music for the film has been composed by Academy Award-winner A.R. Rahman, further adding to the excitement around the release. 'Thug Life' is a joint production of Raaj Kamal Films International and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, and will be distributed by Red Giant Movies. How to complete The Word is Silent quest in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon

(Image via Awaken Realms) Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon transfers the players into the grim world, where the dark secrets fester. Amidst the quests, The Word is Silent stands out as crucial yet easily missed. Found quite early in the game, the mission tasks you to expose the atrocities of the Red Priest, beginning with the single damned letter that's discovered on the desolate shore. Here is how you can find evidence, track the right person, and ensure that the truth does not remain buried. Find Whistleblower evidence in The Word is Silent quest The Word is Silent Quest Guide In Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon Your journey begins during the prologue of the game on Asylum Island. Once you defeat Golem boss and get back to the beach, head north right along the shoreline. Ensure to keep a sharp eye out for any wreckage of the small boat that sits in shallow water. It is your key landmark. From the wreck, look carefully to your right. Tucked right within the narrow rocky alcove is the body of the Red Priest, almost hidden from view. At his feet rests an important Letter to the Prior. Interact with the letter and read it to officially begin The Word is Silent quest. Missing the alcove would mean you miss the quest completely (there is no way back to the island) before you leave the island. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Our one of a kind Patented Cold Water Extraction Process Superior Ginseng Undo So, be sharp. Deliver evidence to Brother Riagan As you progress in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon through the main story, reach a fortress called The Horns of the South, the stronghold of the Keeper. As you get inside the Keep, ascend the stairs ahead of the main entrance. The destination is a garden located on the east. Here, during the daylight hours, you can find Brother Riagan, who is seated on the bench. Once you reach them, initiate the conversation with him. Make sure you select the dialogue options—Thank you, I've already been blessed. With tongs, pincers, fire.../You're a Red Priest. You know what I mean/Here's your proof. Is this enough? These dialogue choices challenge the Red Priests' actions. They hint at atrocities committed on the Asylum Island. When you are promoted, present Brother Riagan's Letter to the Prior as proof of corruption in the church. To hand him the letter is the core action for the stage. Lead a final confrontation to complete the quest Just handing over the letter to Brother Riagan will not be enough. He needs time to process the damning evidence. Once you hand him the letter, wait for an entire day before you talk to him again. Your final conversation will conclude The Word is Silent quest. With it, Brother Riagan will finally denounce the church and will reward you 75 XP for exposing the truth. If you possess Father Vaughan's Notes from Unforgettable Quest (a related quest), give them to Riagan when you have a final talk with him. It will offer you some additional experience bonus and a deeper narrative resolution. Though the quest is short, it does expose some dark secrets of the game, only if you know where to look. So, stay sharp and do not let the lies of the priest go unchallenged.

Zodiac Signs That don't speak much but feel everything

Some people express their frustration with rants, some take to social media with tweets, and then there are these specific zodiac signs. They're like emotional black holes disguised as introverts, bottling up more feelings than an entire Taylor Swift album, yet communicating their struggles as if they're starring in an Oscar-winning silent film. Cancer This sign is the CEO of saying "I'm fine" while, on the inside, they're intensely auditioning for a tragic monologue straight out of The Notebook . You might find them crying while watching cooking shows. They possess the uncanny ability to write an entire novel based on a single glance, but they absolutely won't tell anyone what's truly wrong until about six emotional earthquakes have already occurred. Scorpio Their emotional world feels like a dramatic telenovela. They will utter absolutely nothing, yet their intense glare could easily win a Golden Globe award. They guard their secrets like it's a sacred religion. A Scorpio will shed tears over a deep betrayal, but also surprisingly over something trivial like a broken shoelace, simply because it "felt symbolic" to them. Pisces Imagine a walking Pinterest board filled with emotions—that's a Pisces. While they might appear quiet on the outside, internally, they're emotionally binge-watching their past, present, and every hypothetical future scenario. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Click Here Undo They might pretend to be meditating, but in reality, they're probably just deeply daydreaming about conversations that never actually happened. Capricorn Known for their deadpan delivery, they often come across as emotionally constrained. While they feel everything profoundly, they express their emotions like a meticulously organized spreadsheet—cold, minimal, and usually presented with bullet points. They love very deeply, but they'd genuinely rather wrestle a bear than admit their feelings without the aid of a detailed PowerPoint presentation. Virgo A Virgo analyses emotions with the precision of an indie director editing a film—it's painstakingly detailed, and they're constantly questioning the script. An internal meltdown? Oh, absolutely. Verbal communication about it? Only if proper grammar and syntax are strictly observed. Aquarius They will confidently claim not to care about things. They're lying. Inside, they often feel like a rejected Pixar character grappling with a profound existential subplot. You might find them staring intently at the sky, pondering the fate of humanity, all while quietly mourning the tragic death of a fictional character from a 2002 anime. These particular signs are essentially the Academy Award winners of internal suffering. They'll flash a perfect smile in group photos, then spiral into a profound emotional state alone, almost as if they're acting out a scene from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind . Underneath their composed exterior, emotions run wild, but on the surface? You'll mostly get vague texts and a distant stare.
