"Deliberated on various issues, states showcased best practices in diverse areas": PM Modi on NDA CMs Conclave
The Prime Minister said that the states presented their practices in areas of water conservation, grievance redressal, strengthening administrative frameworks, education, women empowerment, sports, and more
He also emphasised the need to add momentum to development trajectories so that the benefits of the double-engine government reach the people effectively.
In a post on X, PM Modi posted, 'Participated in the NDA Chief Ministers' Conclave in Delhi. We had extensive deliberations about various issues. Various states showcased their best practices in diverse areas, including water conservation, grievance redressal, strengthening administrative frameworks, education, women empowerment, sport, and more. It was wonderful to hear these experiences.'
'I emphasised the need to add momentum to our development trajectories and ensure that the benefits of double-engine government effectively reach the people. Spoke about building stronger synergies in key areas, be it cleanliness, sanitation, healthcare, youth empowerment, agriculture, technology, and more,' his post read.
Over 20 Chief Ministers and 18 Deputy Chief Ministers from various states gathered in New Delhi on Sunday for the NDA Chief Ministers' conclave, held under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of two key resolutions, one lauding the armed forces for Operation Sindoor and the other supporting the caste census initiative.
Union Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda addressed a press conference after the conclusion of the meeting and stated that Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, was highly praised by multiple leaders, with the bravery of the armed forces being highly appreciated.
'Today, our National Democratic Alliance's CM conclave was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Our 20 CMs and 18 Deputy CMs were present in this meeting. 2 resolutions were passed. The first resolution was on Operation Sindoor, which was carried out under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, and the work of our army was highly praised, and the bravery shown by the army was highly appreciated,' JP Nadda said during the press conference.
The resolution on caste census was also passed in the conclave, with the leaders praising the decision of PM Modi to conduct the caste enumeration exercise, while also affirming that this was not done due to 'caste politics' but to ensure that the deprived, oppressed, and exploited are brought to the mainstream.
'Today, a resolution was also passed in the meeting on the caste census. And everyone has given their consent to this, as well as praised this decision of (PM) Modi and congratulated him. We have made it clear that we do not do caste politics, but want to bring the deprived, oppressed, and exploited, who have been left out, into the mainstream. This is the need of the society,' Nadda added.
The leaders also discussed the Chhattisgarh government's development model and innovative initiatives.
A presentation made by CM Vishnu Deo Sai on the Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum captivated the attention of the Prime Minister and other participating Chief Ministers in the NDA conclave meeting. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao also attended the conclave.
The Chhattisgarh government received special appreciation for its development model and innovative initiatives at the Chief Minister's conclave.
The high-level meeting of Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from the BJP-led NDA states also included a significant discussion on commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, declared on June 25, 1975.
BJP National President JP Nadda said, 'On June 25-26, 50 years of Emergency will be completed, NDA will expose it and will inform the public about those people who tried to strangle democracy.'
Leaders resolved to mark the anniversary in remembrance of the Emergency imposed by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, a period that exposed citizens to widespread political turmoil and suppression of civil liberties.
The government of India announced last year, 2024, that June 25 will be remembered annually as 'Constitution Murder Day' in remembrance of the Emergency, which stands as a stark chapter in the nation's history.
Declared by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the Emergency saw the suspension of fundamental rights and the imposition of strict censorship, aiming to quell political dissent and maintain order.
The day-long NDA CMs and Dy CMs conclave, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was a brainstorming session on good governance issues.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among the senior leaders present at the conclave, which served as a platform for discussing good governance practices and innovative state-level initiatives. (ANI)

Meanwhile, a special 40 per cent rate is likely to be levied on luxury goods, it added. Move from 12% to 5%: Citing government sources, the news agency reported that 99 per cent of the items that currently fall under the 12 per cent GST tax slab will be moved to the 5 per cent bracket under the renewed regime. Shift from 28% to 18%: Furthermore, around 90 per cent of taxable items in the 28 per cent bracket would be moved to the 18 per cent slab. With this renewed GST move, the Centre reportedly expects to give a major boost to consumption, which "will offset revenue loss due to rate rationalisation". What PM Modi said on GST In his Independence Day speech, PM Modi said that the central government will introduce next-generation GST reforms by Diwali, noting that discussions over the same have been held with states. 'We have discussed with states and will usher in next-generation GST reforms by Diwali, which will be a Diwali gift for citizens. Taxes on items used by the common man will be reduced substantially. Our MSMEs will benefit hugely. Daily-use items will become cheaper, which will also strengthen our economy,' he said. A Group of Ministers (GoM), including state finance ministers, is already working on rate rationalisation and the pruning of GST slabs. The Prime Minister also said that a task force will be set up to recommend all necessary GST reforms in a time-bound manner for the 21st century. He said that India must also focus on high-quality, affordable products to build a prosperous, self-reliant nation that honours the sacrifices of freedom fighters. The PM emphasised that self-reliance goes beyond imports, exports, or currency exchange. 'It is tied to our capabilities. When self-reliance begins to erode, so does our strength. To preserve, maintain, and enhance our capabilities, self-reliance is essential.' He said that India must focus on strengthening itself, not limiting others, to earn global respect amid the increasing economic self-interest.
