Missing Bolt driver found and arrested on immigration charges
A Bolt driver who was reported missing by his family has been found and arrested along with two other individuals on immigration-related charges in the Northern Cape.
Simbarashe Chimbowa, 31, was apprehended by police after being missing for several days.
His mother had reported him missing after he was last seen on 21 July 2025 at 7pm in Kagisho, Kimberley.
The South African Police Service (Saps) confirmed that Chimbowa was arrested along with two co-accused for contravening the Immigration Act.
Bolt driver arrest details
Police arrested Chimbowa together with Elias Mzonjani, 47, and Believe Chikate, 25, during a routine operation outside Douglas.
'The arrest was effected by the Visible Policing Unit of Douglas SAPS on Monday, 21 July 2025 at approximately 11pm,' said Lt Col Sergio Kock, Saps spokesperson.
The trio was discovered traveling in a blue Ford Focus.
They were found about 5km outside Douglas on the Kimberley Road.
Police seized the vehicle as part of their investigation into the matter.

Court appearance
All three suspects made their first court appearance this week.
They appeared briefly in the Douglas Magistrate's Court on Friday, 25 July 2025.
Kock said the case had been postponed to allow for further investigation.
The matter was remanded to 29 July 2025.
Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case.
The vehicle used by the suspects remains in police custody.
'The investigation is ongoing. Members of the public with any relevant information are urged to contact Detective Warrant Officer Calvin Botha at 082 908 3623, SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or to use the MySAPS App. All information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality,' Kock said.
Authorities are appealing for any additional information that could assist with the investigation.

Image: Supplied The South African Police Service (SAPS) achieved a significant milestone in its efforts against illegal mining with the arrest of approximately 1,000 illegal immigrants at a mine in the Barberton area of Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, on Friday. The operation, part of the ongoing initiative known as Operation Vala Umgodi, represents a coordinated effort by law enforcement agencies to combat illegal mining and associated crimes in the country. Operation Vala Umgodi, in collaboration with the mine's security, was involved in the week-long operation. Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, in a statement on Friday, said the K9 Unit, Task Force, Vukalanga Security, and members from the Combat and Proactive team started the operation on Monday. Mdhluli said the illegal miners resurfaced due to the pressure from law enforcement agencies, who managed to halt the supply of resources. 'It has been discovered through the operation that most of the miners, if not all, are foreign nationals without valid documentation to be in the country. It was also discovered that some of these miners could be underage,' he said. As a result, Mdhluli said police are working in conjunction with officials from the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Minerals and Energy, the National Prosecution Authority, as well as other law enforcement agencies. He said the suspects could possibly be charged for contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa, as well as other charges in relation to illegal mining and trespassing. 'More charges may be added as the operation and investigation continue,' he said, adding that the nationalities of the arrested suspects remain to be established through collaboration with Home Affairs officials. Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, said Barberton has been presenting challenges in terms of crime. He said police had previously made a commitment to heighten visibility in the area, with continuous operations being carried out. 'We are not reluctant when a person is found on the wrong side of the law; we arrest, end of the story. We are also grateful for the collaboration with the mine, which made it easy and possible to execute the operation successfully,' said Mkhwanazi. Police said the number of suspects is expected to increase as more illegal miners resurface, and those who were apprehended will soon appear in court. In a separate incident in Polokwane on Thursday, provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Masekela Magoro said the Sekhukhune Vala Umgodi Task Team launched a focused, high-impact operation in response to ongoing reports of illegal red chrome mining in Tweefontein. 'During the operation, the police confronted active illegal miners. While some suspects managed to slip away into the bushes, a 48-year-old man was arrested and charged with illegal mining,' he said. In the Northern Cape on Wednesday, 18 suspects were arrested for alleged illegal gemstone mining in a swift operation by Prieska law enforcement, said police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers. Acting on intelligence, the team descended on a mountainous area 7.5 km outside Prieska, where suspects were reportedly engaged in illicit mining, said Ehlers. The male suspects, aged between 21 and 60, were apprehended at the scene on charges of contravening the Illicit Mining Act, Act 28 of 2002. 'Mining implements suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime, as well as bags containing what is believed to be gemstones, were confiscated,' she said.

Religious leader's murder shocks Benoni community
A lone brightly coloured floral arrangement stands next to the curb in Caledon Street in Actonville, in Benoni, Ekurhuleni – it serves as a stark reminder of where guru Roy Naidoo (66) was murdered on Wednesday. Steeling herself, one of Naidoo's sisters, Queenie, places a fresh rose next to the bouquet, paying her respects to a man she said served his community until his final moments. Benoni City Times reports that Anton Koen of NoJack Vehicle Tracking said private security, local SAPS, as well as members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) responded to the incident, which he described as gruesome. Paul Apicella, from the neighbouring Paarl Street, said that the suspect had been walking the streets that morning, wielding what he described as a panga. 'The man was swinging the weapon around, screaming and ranting,' said Apicella. 'Pedestrians could be heard screaming and running in all directions. It was chaos, people locked themselves in their homes out of fear.' Shanwill da Costa, a local youth who had been living under the mentorship of the Tamil priest for the past four years, said that at about 13:30, Naidoo approached his assailant to calm the situation. 'Uncle Roy was standing in the road next to him, speaking in his characteristic calm manner. It seemed like the situation was simmering down,' said Da Costa. 'The suspect started swinging the weapon, and the next minute, Uncle Roy was on the ground. I tried to help, but could not get close enough. I felt incredibly helpless.' Koen confirmed that after the incident, the suspect fled into his home, barricading himself inside. 'Following a brief exchange of fire, SAPS members tactically breached the property,' he said. 'The man was found on his bed with a gunshot wound. He was arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment.' Sitting in Naidoo's living room, Queenie said that her brother's home and Ashram (temple) have, for more than two decades, served as a beacon of hope for the community. 'Roy has served as a spiritual leader for 45 years, assisting weary souls with guidance and care,' she said. 'Despite not being in good health, he sourced food donations from local businesses to provide those in need with a weekly meal and a diligently packed food hamper. His life was dedicated to caring for everyone regardless of faith and culture.' She said that Roy's two children, as well as his surviving five siblings, are grappling to come to terms with his death. 'It would have been easier to accept his physical departure if it were due to natural causes,' she said. 'This burden is too heavy to carry. We leave Roy's attacker in the hands of God, for only He can judge.' A funeral service will be held at Naidoo's Caledon Street home tomorrow (August 2). Tragic end: Missing mother and toddler daughter found beheaded
The 34-year-old mother and her two-year-old daughter vanished in May and their bodies were discovered this week, decapitated. Image: SAPS Two suspects, aged 43 and 32, have been arrested by the police in Limpopo for the brutal murder of a mother aged 34 and her two-year-old daughter. The woman and her daughter went missing on 19 May, sparking an extensive investigation by the police at Thohoyandou, Vhembe District, joined by the provincial team of investigators dealing with missing persons' cases. 'On Wednesday, a task team comprising SAPS Thohoyandou intervention team, Thohoyandou detectives, and provincial missing persons team followed a credible lead which led to the discovery of the body of the mother and her daughter,' said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, provincial police spokesperson. 'As a result of this gruesome discovery, two suspects were linked to the incident, and were immediately arrested. During the process, it was also discovered that the bodies were without heads.' Police also established that one of the suspects is alleged to be the boyfriend of the deceased. 'The motive behind this heinous act of crime is still under investigation,' said Ledwaba. The duo was remanded in custody, and the matter was postponed to Tuesday for further investigations. Meanwhile, provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrests, and she saluted the investigating teams 'for their remarkable skill' which resulted in the tracking down of the alleged killers.
