Unemployment in Singapore inches up in Q1 as labour market grows at slower pace

Singapore's labour market growth slowed in Q1 2025, according to the Manpower Ministry's latest report. Total employment rose by 2,400, down from 7,700 in the previous quarter. Unemployment inched up to 2% overall. Meanwhile, Manpower Minister Tan See Leng said a task force set up to support businesses and workers affected by US tariffs is reviewing further measures to help them navigate the uncertainty. TSMC to phase out 6-inch wafer production over two years

TAIPEI :Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) will gradually exit its 6-inch wafer manufacturing business over the next two years and continue consolidating its 8-inch wafer production capacity to improve efficiency, the company said on Tuesday. The decision, which TSMC told Reuters in a statement was made after a thorough evaluation, was based on market conditions and aligned with the company's long-term business strategy.
