SYDNEY, April 10, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Following its partnership with Brazilian Serie A side Esporte Clube Bahia since 2023, industry-leading global Forex and CFD broker Axi has revealed an extension to their collaboration for two more seasons. As part of the extension, the Axi brand will now feature on the shorts of the Brazilian side.
Founded in 1931, Bahia plays in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Brazil's top league. In 2023, City Football Group became the majority shareholder of Bahia SAF holding 90% of the club's shares. Throughout the club's history, Bahia has won the Brasileirão title twice and their state title a total of 50 times; this year, the club has also qualified for the CONMEBOL Libertadores, the highest level of South American club football competition.

The 36-time Italian champions may not be at the peak of their powers, but have found a little more coherency since appointing Igor Tudor as head coach in March. The former Juventus defender will be aiming to add to the Old Lady's sprawling honours list, although the Turin side are not among the favourites… Follow the Club World Cup on The Athletic this summer… Not as good as they'd like to be after committing to spend a quarter of a billion (gross) on players last summer. Juventus fired Thiago Motta seven months into his first season as head coach, then last week parted with managing director of football Cristiano Giuntoli after achieving the absolute minimum; a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification. It is now five years since Juventus last won Serie A and, unless something drastic happens, the drought could last long enough to match the nine-year barren run the club endured between the late '80s and early '90s. Insane amount Aussies could pay for coffee
Coffee may need to reach $12 a cup for Australia to compete with other countries for the sacred beans. Benchmark prices hit an all-time high in April, and industry insiders say Chinese demand for beans is squeezing prices in Australia. '(The) Chinese have very much converted from tea to coffee,' Essential Coffee chief executive Todd Hiscock told the ABC. 'They're buying up unprecedented levels of coffee supplies, often they're taking a whole Brazilian stock load in ways that's never been seen before.' Median prices per cup needed to increase to between $8 to $12, he said. 'We've got to come to the party and pay in a competitive global market,' Hiscock said. Brazil produces more than one-third of the world's coffee beans. The country battled through a drought in 2024 that was capped off with a cold snap. Combined, this slashed the overall harvests. As investors turn away from the volatile US, the Brazilian real has also climbed, disincentivising exports out of Brazil. Vietnam is the second-largest coffee producer. The El Nino weather pattern plunged Vietnam's coffee-growing regions into drought for the past two years, damaging the plants so badly that many will not fully recover for another two years. These international pressures, plus general inflation, are slicing margins at Australian cafes. A large player in the Australian coffee industry, Essential Coffee's wage bill has risen 9 per cent in two years, combined with a 29 per cent increase in rent and a 6 per cent rise in insurance. Mr Hiscock told the ABC the price of wholesale coffee had risen 119 per cent since November 2023. 'It's hard because people are very sensitive to their beloved coffee and when you move the price up, you find not just a lot of negative reaction, you find some very terse expletives,' he said.

Tijjani Reijnders ‘really excited' to link up with Man City for Club World Cup
Tijjani Reijnders 'could not wait' to undergo his medical with Manchester City and expects to be in their squad for the Club World Cup. The 26-year-old Netherlands midfielder has agreed a five-year contract to move to City from AC Milan for 55million euros (approximately £46million) and told Italian media he had spent Sunday conducting a medical with Pep Guardiola's side. Advertisement City will play their first match of the Club World Cup against Morocco's Wydad AC on June 18 and the arrival of Reijnders could also impact the future of Jack Grealish at City. Reijnders told Gazzetta: 'The medical? I couldn't wait to do it. The plan is to take part at the Club World Cup with City. I'm really excited about that. 'Doing that means I'll get to know my new team-mates soon.' Reijnders was a bright spark in a disappointing season for Milan, who only finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on qualification for Europe. Manchester City's Jack Grealish could leave this summer (Martin Rickett/PA) Reijnders, who joined the Italian giants from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023, scored 15 goals in 2024-25 and will bolster Guardiola's midfield options following the departure of Kevin De Bruyne.
