Following the meeting, Sheikh Al-Rafei said, "We commended the bold stance taken by the government yesterday. We have high hopes in the tenure and the government to achieve prosperity and justice, especially for the detained Islamists and others."
Premier Salam also received a delegation from the Syndicate of Optical Center Owners, headed by its Dean, Fadi Al-Hakim, who said after the meeting that the delegation briefed the Premier on the syndicate's objectives.
The Prime Minister later met with a delegation from the Akroum Municipalities Union, headed by Union President Ali Ahmed Esber, who said after the meeting that the delegation raised with the Premier a set of demands related to the district.
Separately, Salam received Lebanon's representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ahmed Arafa.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail to address the worsening traffic crisis in Beirut and other regions, in the presence of security officials and representatives from the Interior Ministry. Watch: Government Entrusts Army with Weapon Control Plan
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that "the Cabinet has decided to task the Lebanese Army to deliver a disarmament plan by the end of the year, while also deciding to continue discussions on the paper submitted by the American side last Thursday."
