India doesn't need third party mediation on Kashmir: Venkaiah Naidu
Hyderabad: Former Vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu, stated that any discussions with Pakistan should focus solely on Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and terrorism, asserting that India does not require anyone's mediation on the Kashmir issue.
He made these remarks while participating in a Tiranga Yatra on Tank Bund held to commemorate the success of Operation Sindoor and expressing solidarity with the armed forces in their line of duty, as well as supporting the Centre's decisive actions against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Venkaiah Naidu emphasised that India is a peace-loving nation and has never launched an unprovoked attack against any country.
'We have tried to maintain friendly relations with our neighboring country. However, Pakistan is nurturing terrorists and inciting attacks against India,' he remarked.
He paid tributes to the soldiers who successfully targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK as part of Operation Sindoor and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's timely decisions during the heightened tensions with Pakistan. He urged people to rise above caste, religion, language, and region when the country's internal security is threatened.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, who led the Yatra, declared that Operation Sindoor was a resounding success, and showcased the country's military prowess and cutting-edge technological capabilities. Modi emphasised that India's goal is to crush terrorist groups, Reddy reminded the audience.
Dr. Sathish Reddy, a former advisor to the Union Defence Ministry, noted that Operation Sindoor and subsequent developments have given India the upper hand over Pakistan. He pointed out that since the time Modi assumed office, the focus has shifted towards achieving self-sufficiency in defense production.
'Our scientists have developed the necessary defence and security systems, and our forces are prepared to utilise them,' he stated.
Former Maharashtra Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, along with party MPs DK Aruna, Etala Rajender and Visweshwar Reddy, and former MP Jaya Prada and others, praised the valuor and saluted sacrifices of the armed forces. They called on the people to unite and express solidarity with the armed forces in preserving the nation's sovereignty and integrity.
Earlier, a grand Tiranga Yatra was held on Tank Bund, stretching from the Dr. Ambedkar statue to the Swamy Vivekananda statue, with thousands of people in attendance. Chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram' resonated along the Tank Bund, as the participants proudly carried the tricolor.
The enthusiastic involvement of doctors, lawyers, teachers, NCC cadets, army veterans, women's groups, Brahma Kumaris and students from several schools highlighted the rally's uniting the people, cutting across party lines.

Ahmedabad Plane Crash India witnessed one of its worst aviation tragedies on Thursday after a London-bound Air India plane, carrying 242 passengers and crew, including former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, crashed into a medical college complex shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport. In an early morning post on X at 12.41am on Friday, Air India confirmed that 241 people had perished in the crash. A police official told news agency PTI that 265 bodies had been brought to the hospital. The plane had crashed into the mess area of a medical college hostel, causing what appears to be at lease two dozen fatalities on the ground. Officials said the flight lost altitude soon after taking off at around 1.30pm, before crashing into the residential quarters of BJ Medical College doctors in Meghaninagar area and going up in flames, sending plumes of thick black smoke spiralling up in the air. One person survived the tragedy. The lone survivor was identified as Indian-origin British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh who was returning to the UK with his brother Ajay Kumar Rakesh, 45, who was in a different row inside the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The aircraft had 232 passengers and 10 crew members, including 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese and a Canadian, on board. Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], June 13 (ANI): A. Pavithran, the Junior Superintendent of Vellarikundu taluk, has been suspended for an objectionable Facebook post criticising Ranjitha G. Nair, who died in the Ahmedabad plane crash. Revenue Minister of Kerala, K Rajan, shared a social media post and called the junior superintendent's act despicable. Sharing the Facebook post, Rajan wrote, 'Vellarikundu taluk Junior Superintendent A. Pavithran has been suspended for posting a Facebook post criticising Ranjitha G. Nair, who died in a plane crash. This is a despicable act on the part of the Deputy Tehsildar. After this post came to our attention, an order was issued to suspend him immediately.' Ranjitha Gopakimar, hailing from Thiruvalla in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district, was among the victims of the London-bound Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday, her family confirmed. Ranjitha, who worked as a nurse in the United Kingdom, was on the ill-fated flight and has been confirmed to be dead, her relatives said. She is survived by her two children and her mother, who currently reside in Thiruvalla. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement has also been scrutinised. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh responded to a post in which Amit Shah could be seen saying, 'This is an accident, and nobody can stop accidents.' Replying to Shah's statement, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, 'Is this what the Union Home Minister should be saying now? It is most insensitive.' Congress leader Pawan Khera also attacked Shah and posted, 'When a plane crashes and people die, the least a Home Minister can offer is a promise of accountability, not a shrug and a lecture on fate. 'Nobody can stop accidents' is an abdication. If nothing can be prevented, why do we have ministries at all? Aviation accidents are not acts of God - they are preventable. That's why we have aviation regulators, safety protocols, and crisis response systems. By the Home Minister's logic, should we stop investing in safety infrastructure, regulation, or crisis preparedness altogether? Just leave it to fate and call it a day?' (ANI)

"Scene of devastation saddening": PM Modi after visit to airplane crash site in Ahmedabad
New Delhi [India], June 13 (ANI): After visiting the plane crash site in Ahmedabad on Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra expressed grief and described the scene of the devastation as 'saddening.' 'Visited the crash site in Ahmedabad today. The scene of devastation is saddening. Met officials and teams are working tirelessly in the aftermath. Our thoughts remain with those who lost their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy,' posted PM Modi on X. The Prime Minister visited the Air India plane crash site and reviewed the ground situation, a day after the AI-171 flight bound for London Gatwick crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad International Airport. The Prime Minster arrived in the city this morning and proceeded to site where the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner -- carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed. He was briefed by officials on the situation. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi and other officials accompanied PM Modi during his visit. Upon his arrival in the city today, PM Modi was received by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Ministers Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and CR Paatil. PM Modi then proceeded to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital to meet with those injured in the mishap. There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national on board the crashed plane. Miraculously, one person, a British national of Indian origin, survived the crash, airline authorities said. The aircraft was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a Line Training Captain with 8,200 hours of flying experience, assisted by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged 1,100 flying hours. According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls made by ATC. Immediately after departing Runway 23, the aircraft crashed outside the airport perimeter. An official said heavy black smoke was coming from the accident site. Yesterday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and obtained detailed information about the entire incident. Shah said that there was no chance of saving anyone in the London-bound Air India plane crash because of the high temperature caused by the burning of almost 125,000 litres of fuel in the aircraft. Expressing condolences to family members of those killed, Shah said the exact number of deaths will be officially released only after DNA tests. Shah revealed that approximately 1000 DNA tests have been conducted so far. 'The plane carried almost 125,000 litres of fuel, and due to the high temperature, there was no chance of saving anyone... 'I visited the crash site,' the Home Minister told mediapersons. 'In just 10 minutes of the incident, we got the information. After that, I informed the Prime Minister, the Gujrat Home Minister, the Control Room of the Home Department, the Civil Aviation Department and the Civil Aviation Minister. 'The Prime Minister instantly called back, and the personnel from the Union and state governments jumped in jointly for the relief and rescue operations,' he said. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is a division of the Ministry of Civil Aviation tasked with probing aircraft accidents in India.A formal investigation has been launched by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into the deadly crash of Air India flight 171 that killed 241 people onboard, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed on Thursday. 'Following the tragic incident in Ahmedabad, a formal investigation has been initiated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), in line with international protocols set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO),' Naidu posted on X. He informed that the Indian government was also constituting a high-level committee of people with expertise in multiple disciplines to examine the crash incident and devise ways to strengthen aviation safety by preventing such incidents in the future. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), a federal agency authorised by Congress to investigate civil aviation accidents in the United States (US), is gearing up to send a team of investigators to India to assist with probing the deadly Ahmedabad plane crash.
