UN expert: What's happening in Gaza is not war, it's genocide
She accused institutions and corporations of profiting from the destruction and targeting of civilians in Gaza, and called for urgent international action to halt support for what she described as an "economy of annihilation."
'Over the past 20 months, the Israeli army and settlers have destroyed vast areas of Palestinian land, while the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange continued to post profits,' Albanese said.
She added that genocide is being committed 'under the pretext of distributing humanitarian aid in Gaza,' and reiterated her calls for a global arms embargo on 'Israel' and the suspension of all trade agreements with it.
Albanese urged over 1,000 companies to cut ties with 'Israel' or face accountability, stating that 'the time has come for corporations involved in the economy of genocide to stop profiting at the expense of human rights.'
The UN official stressed that the only path forward is for states to abide by the standards set by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). She said entities participating in the economic support of the 'Israeli' campaign should have boycotted 'Israel' instead of continuing commercial relations.

'Israel' says will prepare plan to neutralize Iran's threats
'Israeli' Defence Minister Israel Katz on Friday said the army had a plan to prevent Iran from threatening 'Israel' again after the arch-foes fought a 12-day war last month. The 'Israeli' military will prepare an "enforcement plan to ensure that Iran cannot threaten Israel again", Katz said in a statement, adding that "the army must prepare on the intelligence and operational level to ensure that the Air Force maintains air superiority over Tehran".

Trump says Hamas to give response to ceasefire proposal over next 24 hours
US President Donald Trump was asked Friday morning if Hamas has agreed to a ceasefire deal with 'Israel'. 'We are going to know over the next 24 hours,' Trump said. Earlier, Trump announced 'Israel' had agreed to a 60-day ceasefire with Hamas. The agreement is pending Hamas' approval. Netanyahu is due to meet Trump in Washington DC next week, with the US president expected to push for a ceasefire. "I want the people of Gaza to be safe more importantly," Trump told reporters Thursday when asked if he still wanted the US to take over the Palestinian territory, as he announced in February. "They've gone through hell." Sticking Points for Hamas Previous indirect negotiations have repeatedly failed to produce a lasting agreement, with the primary sticking point being a long-term ceasefire in Gaza. In a statement Wednesday, Hamas said it was holding discussion to review proposals from mediators aimed at "ending the aggression, ensuring Israeli withdrawal, and urgently aiding our people in Gaza." Significant gaps remain between Hamas' demands and the proposed terms, including a permanent end to the war, reopening Gaza to humanitarian aid, and a full 'Israeli' withdrawal – factors that will ultimately determine whether the 60-day ceasefire takes effect. In January, a ceasefire between Hamas and 'Israel' fell apart by March due to disputes over implementation and renewed 'Israeli' air and ground assaults. On Wednesday, Netanyahu reiterated 'Israel's' objective of "eradicating Hamas to the roots.'

Netanyahu vows to bring all Gaza captives home
'Israeli' premier Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to bring home all the captives still held by Hamas in war-stricken Gaza, where the civil defence agency said 73 people were killed Thursday in the ongoing aggression. Netanyahu has come under strong pressure to get the captives back after US President Donald Trump said 'Israel' had agreed to a 60-day ceasefire with Hamas that could lead to their release. "I feel a deep commitment, first and foremost, to ensure the return of all our abductees, all of them," Netanyahu told inhabitants of the Nir Oz kibbutz, the community that saw the most captives seized on Oct. 7, 2023. "We will bring them all back," he added, in filmed comments released by his office. "They've gone through hell." 'Israel's' leaders have held firm to their aim of crushing Hamas, even as the group said Tuesday it was discussing new proposals for a ceasefire from mediators. 'Israeli' offensive expands 'Israel' has recently expanded its military operations in the Gaza Strip, where its war on fighters has created dire humanitarian conditions and displaced nearly all of the territory's population of more than two million. Many have sought shelter in school buildings, but these have repeatedly come under 'Israeli' attacks that the military often claims target Hamas fighters. Gaza civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal said those killed Thursday included 15 in a strike on a school sheltering Palestinians displaced by the war. In an updated toll on Thursday evening, he told AFP that 73 people were killed across the territory by 'Israeli' strikes, artillery or gunfire. They included 38 people he said were waiting for humanitarian aid at three separate locations in central and southern Gaza, and a child killed by a drone in Jabalia in the north.
