Orlando Pirates news: Mbokazi and Sebelebele

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has tipped Mbekezeli Mbokazi for a bright future after his commanding display in the 1-1 MTN8 semi-final first-leg draw with Mamelodi Sundowns at a packed Orlando Stadium.
The 19-year-old Bafana Bafana defender stood tall at centre-back against the league's most dangerous attack, even providing the fabulous diagonal pass that set up Kamogelo Sebelebele's equaliser.
With Nkosinathi Sibisi injured and Tapelo Xoki on the bench, Mbokazi wore the armband with pride – and didn't look out of place leading the Soweto giants on such a big stage.
'Let me be very honest, and you have to be careful when you compliment someone, they stop working,' Ouaddou told the media…Full story here.
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has declined personal credit after Kamogelo Sebelebele's heroic performance in a makeshift right-back position.
Last Saturday, the Thembisa-born star struck an equaliser against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semifinals at Orlando Stadium.
Following Deano Van Rooyen's exit, Sebebelele moved to right-back before his goal cancelled out Teboho Mokoena's opener and kept the tie alive at 1-1.

MLS side offers Orlando Pirates R35M for Relebohile Mofokeng!

Orlando Pirates could be set to lose star player Relebohile Mofokeng according to the latest reports doing the rounds. Pirates have reportedly received a very lucrative offer from an MLS side for the services of Mofokeng. The Buccaneers have already sanctioned one big transfer for one of their youngster's this season. That in the form of another winger in Mohau Nkota who joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Etiffaq. That move was believed to be a lucrative one for both Pirates and the 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international. The same team was reportedly close to signing Mofokeng as well but that move seems to have fallen through. But that does not seem to have changed the possibility of Mofokeng leaving Pirates for a move abroad. According to American sports journalist Tom Bogert, MLS side Minnesota United have made a bid that's over R35 million for the winger. 'Sources: Minnesota United submit bid north of $2m for South Africa int'l winger Relebohile Mofokeng to Orlando Pirates. Talks ongoing. Mofokeng, 20, big talent breaking through for club and country. Would be U-22 initiative. MNUFC long-time admirers of Mofokeng.' Wrote Bogert on his official X account. Should the move materialise, Mofokeng would be teaming up with fellow South African winger Bongokuhle Hlongwane. The Bafana Bafana star joined Minnesota from Maritzburg United in 2022. The two would likely be competing for the same spot on the left wing of the team. Both the players can also play on the right, however. It now remains to be seen if Pirates will deem the offer as good enough. Should Pirates decide to cash in on Mofokeng using Minnesota, they would've already signed replacements. During this window, they have signed wingers Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi and Kamogelo Sebelebele. Pirates fans is Minnesota's offer over R35 million enough to prize away Mofokeng? Orlando Pirates board to make a big decision

It's early days, but the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership campaign has started appallingly for Orlando Pirates and coach Ouaddou Abdeslam. The Buccaneers have lost their opening two league matches. Their MTN8 semi-final is delicately poised at 1-1. Details: Saleng returns to Orbit College It seems crazy to suggest it, but Abdeslam Ouaddou's job could already be on the line at Orlando Pirates. If they lose in the MTN8 semis against Sundowns (that tie is currently squared up at 1-1 after the first leg), that pressure will only crank up a notch. And if they lose more ground in the title race this month, they could already be out of the picture, such is the relentlessness of the pace usually set by the Brazilians at the summit. 'Nkota is already a better player after leaving Pirates' Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
