Jio Platforms, a company that is a part of Reliance Industries, has introduced a new cloud-powered virtual desktop service called JioPC. This service essentially converts a normal set-top box into a fully functional personal computer. The JioPC service can be used with any compatible TV linked to a Jio set-top box. The company is offering JioPC for free to users through a waitlist. According to the official website of Jio, JioPC is a virtual desktop service. It is like having a computer in the cloud, delivered over the internet. You can use it through your Jio Set-Top Box (STB) by connecting a keyboard and mouse.
It is ideal for browsing, running productivity apps, educational tools, attending online classes, and more. It is affordable, requires low upfront cost, and eliminates maintenance or upgrade worries since everything is managed in the cloud. Plus, one's data remains secure even if your set-top box is damaged or replaced.
All users need to do is buy a keyboard and mouse, then choose a monthly subscription plan. This is definitely a distinctive offering with a PC-like interface on a smart TV via a monthly or multi-month payment.
Customers no longer need to purchase a separate computer. Their TV will be transformed into a computer. All they must have is a Jio Home connection and a Jio Set-Top Box (STB) connected to a mouse and keyboard. By using JioPC, customers can transform their TV into a functional computer and accomplish a variety of tasks. Everything from online classes to web surfing can be performed. Jio claims that all user data is prolifically stored in the cloud. So even if the set-top box breaks or needs to be replaced, the data will still be safe and available.
To start using a JioPC, a customer needs:
A JioFiber or JioAirFiber connection with a set-top box (STB). A keyboard and mouse.
An active JioPC subscription.
Based on the information stated on Jio's official website, JioPC has 8 GB of RAM and 100 GB of cloud storage. The system runs on the Ubuntu (Linux) operating system. The This setup claims that it is ideal for browsing, online learning, programming, design and productivity applications.
CPU: 4 CPU RAM: 8 GB Storage: 100 GB Cloud Storage Usage: Unlimited
Operating System: Ubuntu (Linux)
'Your JioPC is a virtual desktop that is running in the cloud and streamed to you over the internet. You will be disconnected from the virtual desktop if you lose internet connectivity. Your work will continue to be securely stored on the cloud, and you can reconnect within the idle time (15 mins) to pick up from where you left off. After the idle time passes, your JioPC virtual desktop will be shut down and all unsaved work will be lost,' the website reads. At the moment, JioPC's site contains five subscription plans.
The least expensive plan is Rs599 (+ GST), and it has a validity of one month. It includes unlimited usage, 8GB RAM, and 100GB storage. Is RIL's strong profit growth sustainable amid rising capital expenditure?

ET Intelligence Group: Reliance Industries delivered a strong performance at the operating profit level for the June quarter driven by oil marketing, retail and digital services segments. Excluding the effect of one-time gain from the sale of investment in Asian Paints, the company reported 15% and 25% year-on-year growth in operating profit before depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) and net profit for the quarter. A strong profit growth helped in retaining the net debt-Ebitda level at around 0.6, similar to that at the end of FY25 despite a capital expenditure of ₹29,875 crore for the quarter, up 4% year-on-year. Given this, the country's largest company by revenue and market capitalisation appears to be well placed to grow across the business segments. ADVERTISEMENT In the Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) business, which has the largest share of 56.7% in RIL's consolidated top line, the Ebitda performance was impressive despite a muted 1.5% increase in top line. The Ebitda growth of 10.8% was driven by improved realisation for transportation fuels and higher volume growth of 34.2% in diesel and 38.6% in petrol year-on-year. The company's telecom division, which forms over 13% of the consolidated revenue, continued to report traction in subscriber addition and average revenue per user (ARPU). The 5G user base crossed 210 million in the June quarter from 191 million at the end of March 2025. The ARPU improvement continued with the latest tally ₹208.8 from ₹206.2 in the prior quarter and ₹181.7 a year ago. Also, the sequential pace of customer addition at 9.9 million increased from 6.1 million in the previous quarter. As a result, the Jio Platform's revenue grew by 19% year-on-year to ₹35,032 crore while Ebitda rose by 24% to ₹18,135 crore. In the retail segment, which forms over 26% of the consolidated revenue, the store count increased by 388 to 19,592 in the June quarter. Net revenue grew by 11.3% year-on-year to ₹73,720 crore led by market leadership in grocery and fashion, despite temporary monsoon-related softness in overall consolidated revenue grew by 6% to ₹2.7 lakh crore year-on-year while net profit including the investment gain rose by 76.5% to ₹30,783 crore. Under its new energy initiative, it has started the execution of power generation projects in Kutch and it is in the process of setting up a transmission line to Jamnagar, Gujarat. This will aid the company's green chemicals Oswal expects consolidated Ebitda and net profit to grow by 11% annually between FY25 and FY28. It has reiterated "buy" on the stock, marginally raising the target price to ₹1,700 from 1,685. The stock was last traded at ₹1,476.9 on Friday on the BSE. For RIL, a strategic partner for new energy business may be the next catalyst for value unlocking

Reliance Industries Ltd's (RIL's) consolidated net profit (attributable to owners based on controlling interest) for the June quarter (Q1FY26) rose almost 20% year-on-year to ₹18,070 crore. This is even after excluding the gain realized on the sale of Asian Paints Ltd shares worth ₹8,924 crore. While key oil-to-chemicals (O2C),retail and Jio telecom businesses have largely done well, the pressure on retail margin is evident. Retail core Ebitda margin (excluding investment income) slid for the third consecutive quarter to 8.2% after hitting a peak of 8.5% in Q2FY25. With margin being almost flat year-on-year, absolute Ebitda increased 11% year-on-year to ₹6,044 crore, with similar growth in revenue to ₹73,720 crore. Average sales per store and per square foot grew 7% and 16% year-on-year, which should have aided Ebitda margin improvement with the operating leverage kicking in. The flat Ebitda margin could be indicative of discounts to counter competitive intensity and also rising operational costs. Some of the cost impact could be due to JioMart turning aggressive to counter quick commerce rivals as its hyperlocal deliveries soared by 68% QoQ and 175% year-on-year in terms of daily orders. Read more: Reliance Q1 results: RIL posts record profit despite crude weakness, sets stage for clean energy future Q1FY26 should be the peak growth for the telecom vertical as growth in the subsequent quarters would taper off, given that the effect of tariff hikes taken in July 2024 won't be there. Average revenue per user (Arpu) increased just 1% sequentially in Q1 to ₹208.8, which could be due to higher Arpu from new customers of Jio AirFiber that provides fixed wireless access (FWA) internet connectivity to homes and businesses using 5G technology. Even the cheapest monthly plan of Jio AirFiber costs ₹600, which is thrice the minimum mobile recharge plan. Thus, incremental AirFiber subscribers help in pushing up the overall Arpu. Telecom customer base grew 2% QoQ to 498 million, which includes Jio AirFiber customers in addition to the mobile subscribers. In Q1, Jio became the largest FWA service globally with a subscriber base of 7.4 million. Resilient O2C business RIL's O2C business was resilient in the wake of a turbulent operating environment globally and also the effect of a planned shutdown for maintenance. The production meant for sale fell 2% year-on-year to 17.3 million tonne, but Ebitda increased 11% to ₹14,511 crore. This was because of higher refining margins, mainly on diesel and petrol that grew 7% and 16%, respectively. Lower naphtha prices led to better petrochemical margins for polypropylene and other derivatives. While existing businesses are steady, there is no update on a separate listing of telecom and retail businesses. However, investors could be surprised as RIL's management has hinted at roping in a financial or strategic partner in its new energy business once the project is operationalized. The project, encompassing photovoltaic solar cells and battery energy storage to green hydrogen, is likely to be fully operational in the next 4-6 quarters. Read more: The king's comeback: Why Reliance Industries is beating the market Unlike telecom or retail, the new energy business of RIL does not have sizable listed companies for comparison on valuations. While the business is valued separately by analysts in their sum-of-the-parts (SoTP) valuation for RIL, there could be an upside to the valuation if a new partner is roped in at a high price. RIL's shares trade at 25x its FY26 estimated earnings, based on Bloomberg consensus. If earnings growth continues at the same pace of 20% as seen in Q1FY26, then the valuation does not appear expensive.
