‘Taste of Saudi Culture' to delight London foodies
RIYADH: For the third year in a row, Saudi Arabia's Culinary Arts Commission will participate in the Taste of London food festival, held in Regent's Park from June 18 to 22.
Through its 'Taste of Saudi Culture' pavilion, the commission promotes cultural exchange, showcases the richness of Saudi culinary heritage, and highlights the Kingdom's culinary excellence.

The pavilion will feature immersive activities celebrating the diversity of Saudi cuisine, including live cooking demonstrations by skilled Saudi chefs.
Visitors will have a rare chance to sample a variety of iconic traditional dishes, each with its own story and flavor — such as the national dish jareesh, the slow-cooked haneeth, and the savory street favorite mutabbaq.

Beyond food, the pavilion will include interactive cultural elements reflecting Saudi heritage, such as traditional henna art and colorful Asiri rose headbands.
Guests will be welcomed with premium dates and Saudi coffee — timeless symbols of Saudi hospitality, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Handcrafted ice cream infused with traditional Saudi ingredients like dates, Taif rose, and Jazan mango will also be served, offering authentic flavors with a modern twist.
A variety of refreshing cold drinks made from local ingredients will complement the experience, the SPA added.
A boutique section will feature signature Saudi products like maamoul (date-filled cookies) and unique Saudi coffee, blending retail, culture, and taste into an immersive journey.
This participation underscores the commission's ongoing commitment to celebrating the depth of Saudi culinary arts and sharing the Kingdom's vibrant food culture with global audiences.

Russia pulls citizens from Iran, halts Tehran consulate
MOSCOW: Russia said Sunday it had evacuated several of its citizens from Iran and halted activity at its Tehran consulate after Israeli attacks on the country sparked retaliatory missile fire toward Israel. 'Due to the current situation, the consular service of the embassy is temporarily suspending its activities. The resumption of consular services will be announced later,' the Russian embassy in Tehran said on Telegram. Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova said musicians from the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra were evacuated from Iran. 'The musicians crossed the Azerbaijani border. Yesterday (Saturday), Fyodor Bondarchuk's film crew left Iran via the same route,' she said on Telegram, referring to the Russian director and actor. Russia's civil aviation authority ordered airlines to suspend flights to Iran and Israel and avoid their airspace — along with that of Jordan and Iraq — until at least June 26, following official travel warnings issued Friday. Israel launched unprecedented strikes on Iran's military and nuclear facilities early Friday, saying it aimed to stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Iran has responded with multiple missile salvos targeting Israel. President Vladimir Putin, who maintains ties with both Iran and Israel, condemned Israel's strikes and warned of a 'dangerous escalation' in the Middle East.

Departing pilgrims praise Saudi hospitality, organization during Hajj
RIYADH: Saudi authorities at the Halat Ammar border crossing in the Tabuk region have been saying their goodbyes to departing Hajj pilgrims from around the world. The farewell process reflects Saudi Arabia's coordinated efforts to serve pilgrims under the supervision of Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan. Government and service agencies have been working professionally to ensure procedures are completed smoothly and pilgrims have access to any necessary, health and guidance services, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday. As well as taking their personal memories of a well-organized Hajj, each of the departing pilgrims is given a copy of the Holy Qur'an as a gift from King Salman. Many commented on how well managed the Hajj had been and expressed their gratitude to the officials and organizers at the Two Holy Mosques and other holy sites. Egyptian Mostafa Allam said: 'We did not expect such organization and coordination at every stage, from reception to farewell.' Kawthar Mohamed, also from Egypt, said: 'Everyone treats us kindly, with constant smiles and good service.' Mohammed Ibrahim Abdulrahman, a pilgrim from Jordan, said: 'We felt as though we were among our own family. Thanks to the Kingdom, its government and people for their generosity and care.' Palestinian Issa Abdulwahab said: 'Not for a moment did it feel like a departure, but rather a farewell filled with love and appreciation.'
