Charlie Woods out at U.S. Junior Amateur Championship
The 16-year-old son of Tiger Woods shot rounds of 81 and 74 for a 14-over 155 during stroke play Monday and Tuesday. Match play began Wednesday morning.
The tournament began with 264 players taking part in stroke play at Trinity Forest Golf Club and Brook Hollow Golf Club. The field was narrowed to the top 64 for match play.
The younger Woods is a rising high school junior in Florida.
His first round at Brook Hollow was marred by four double bogeys and five bogeys with just two birdies to offset them. In his second round at Trinity Forest, he played the front nine at even par with three birdies and bogeys but lost three strokes on the back nine with two double bogeys and three bogeys with two birdies.
Tiger Woods was in Dallas to watch his son play.
Charlie Woods will have other chances to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur, seeking to join an impressive list of winners who went on to become majors champions. That list includes Johnny Miller (1964), David Duval (1989), Tiger Woods (1991-93), Brian Harman (2003), Jordan Spieth (2009, 2011) and Scottie Scheffler (2013).
Tiger Woods was 15 when he won his first Junior Amateur.
The younger Woods missed the cut last year at the tournament at Oakland Hills in Michigan.

August 2 - Brenton Doyle capped a five-run ninth inning with a two-run home run, and the Colorado Rockies rallied after giving up nine runs in the first to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 17-16 on Friday night in Denver. Richardson arrested for domestic violence in Seattle, report says
Aug 2 (Reuters) - Reigning 100 metres world champion Sha'Carri Richardson was arrested for domestic violence at a Settle airport four days before the start of the US Track & Field Championships, USA TODAY Sports reported on Friday. The 25-year-old, who won Olympic silver in the 100 at the Paris Games, allegedly pushed her male companion who then fell into a nearby column after an argument, according to a police report obtained by USA TODAY Sports. The report said she was detained on the evening of July 27 and released the following day. Reuters has contacted Port of Seattle Police Department, Richardson's agent and US Track & Field for comment. Richardson withdrew from the 100 semi-finals in Eugene, Oregon on Friday after participating in Thursday's heats. She is guaranteed a spot in the 100 at the world championships in September due to her win at Budapest in 2023.

August 2 - Nick Pivetta allowed just one hit in seven innings and Jackson Merrill capped a four-run fifth inning with a two-run single as the San Diego Padres beat the visiting St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 for their sixth straight win Friday night. Pivetta (11-3) improved to 7-0 at Petco Park this season, walking none and striking out five as he lowered his earned run average to 2.73. New acquisition Mason Miller pitched a scoreless eighth and MLB saves leader Robert Suarez worked the ninth for his 31st save in 35 chances. Matthew Liberatore (6-9) matched Pivetta pitch-for-pitch for four innings and even got a 1-0 lead when Willson Contreras cracked his 15th homer of the year to start the top of the fifth. Contreras jumped on a fastball down the middle and launched it an estimated 398 feet to the seats in left-center.
