Kanye West fans chant for refund at chaotic Shanghai gig
The controversial rapper took to the stage at Shanghai Stadium on Saturday night (12.07.25) and was not only reported by The Global Times to be significantly delayed getting onstage, but his set was plagued by technical difficulties, with some fans even taking to social media to complain about the lack of production.
A clip has gone viral online of the moment the 70,000-strong crowd erupted and demanded a refund.
What's more, one fan accused him of lip syncing.
They wrote on X: "Mostly lip synching. His microphone must have been up less than 20 per cent of the time."
The same user, with the username @Fabian_Lemuel, also claimed Kanye left the stage for 20 minutes during the encore as his music played over the sound system.
The disappointed gig-goer wrote: "For the encore, he disappeared for over 20 minutes at one point as tracks like Wolves just played out with him nowhere in sight. I could have just played your music at home man. Came to see u perform???? (sic)"
The concert marked Kanye's first since September 2024.
It also came days after he was accused of sexual assault and "oral rape" by his former assistant.
The Stronger hitmaker was first sued by Lauren Pisciotta - who worked for the rapper from 2021 until she was fired the following year - in 2024 for sexual harassment, when she claimed he had sent her explicit texts and pornographic videos, photos and calls, and she followed up and filed a second amended complaint which alleged assault, sexual battery and other allegations.
In a complaint obtained by People magazine, the woman accused Kanye of having 'attempted to vaginally penetrate Ms. Pisciotta with his fingers' and also having 'orally raped her without her consent' while she worked for him.
Lauren alleged the 48-year-old star tried to kiss her multiple times without her consent before succeeding once during a trip to San Francisco in 2021, and she claimed that on another work trip, Kanye bombarded her with intimate questions and then 'stroked his penis over his pants with one hand and forcibly touched her vagina with the other hand.'
The complaint went on to allege the Bound 2 rapper - who is married to Bianca Censori and has four children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian - exposed his penis to his then-employee before pushing her onto the bed and pinning her down.
The documents state: 'He then thrust his penis repeatedly into Ms. Pisciotta's face against her will.
'As Ms. Pisciotta frantically pled for Ye to stop, Ye forced his penis into her mouth. Ms. Pisciotta froze in shock and fear but continued to plead with Ye and beg him to stop. After some time, Ye ended the rape, apologized, and exited Ms. Pisciotta's hotel room.'
Other allegations of misconduct detailed in the amended complaint include Kanye having once locked Lauren in a bedroom and 'forced her to watch him masturbate against her will,' and that he 'forcibly grabbed' her by the throat during a concert, as well as an accusation the rapper hired a third party to allegedly harass his assistant by "falsely reporting non-existent emergencies and incidents,' which 'resulted in a barrage of alarming and intrusive visits" to her home from police, various government investigative authorities and delivery and service providers."
When Lauren filed her lawsuit last year, Kanye's legal representative denied the allegations and accused her of "blackmail and extortion" with the "baseless" claims.
Kanye has only played a handful of gigs in recent years and has lost brand deals and been dropped by huge names since making a series of antisemitic outbursts.

Cynthia Erivo's mouth insured for 2m
Cynthia Erivo's mouth has been insured for $2 million. The Wicked actress - who is known for her distinctive gap in her teeth - has partnered with Listerine on their new Wash Your Mouth campaign and as part of the initiative, the company have made the "bold move" to take out an insurance premium specifically for her "recognisable" mouth. Kamran Shahzad, US head of commercial, oral care at Kenvue, said: 'We're ecstatic to collaborate with the iconic Cynthia Erivo to help consumers recognise the importance of mouthwash. 'Our new Wash Your Mouth campaign seeks to educate consumers that while brushing and flossing start the oral care routine, Listerine mouthwash completes it. "Together with Cynthia, we're making a bold move to help protect one of the most recognisable mouths in Hollywood because we're confident that Listerine guarantees a healthier mouth.' Cynthia has always taken care of her teeth and her oral hygiene routine is a key part of her preparations before going on stage for her concerts. She told People magazine: "I'm the geeky kid who was like, 'I'm brushing my teeth.' I don't think mom ever had to fight me to brush my teeth... "Strangely enough, brushing my teeth and using mouthwash — Listerine specifically — for some reason, really opens me up. "It means that I can breathe really well. It's the last thing I do before I go on stage. I just want to make sure that I feel really fresh. It sort of gives me a restart before I go on and sing or speak. "I take good pride in [my mouth] because of my gap. I think what we tend to do is pick our outfits, put the make-up on or do our nails, which are wonderful, great ways to show who you are externally, but cleaning your mouth adds to that. It also adds to the confidence you might not even be able to see unless you smile." When it comes to other forms of self-care, the 38-year-old star undergoes lymphatic massage to reduce water retention and cupping to "get rid of any toxins". She said: "It's an arduous thing to do, but I love doing it because it always aids the end result, which is what you've seen when I'm in front of people singing or performing. "It all goes hand in hand. Everything adds to the next to make sure that all the parts make the whole, and I can actually be present and do the work the way I want to do it."

Gracie Abrams struggled with painful acne
Gracie Abrams felt like a "different person" when she experienced painful acne flare-ups. The 25-year-old singer is known for her luminous, natural beauty look and she admitetd she is "well-versed in complexion products" because of the problems she experienced with her skin when she was younger. She told People magazine: 'When I went to college I had bad, painful, cystic acne on both cheekbones, chin, jawline. "If you ever experience that kind of flare-up where it makes you feel like a different person and it actually physically hurts." Gracie is the globaal brand partner of Hourglass Cosmetics' campaign Any Time. Any Place. Any Wear, and she fell in love with their Hourglass Complexion product after trying various "crazy steps" to cover her blemishes in the past and finally finding a product that "doesn't make [her] break out". She added: "It's nice to know you're putting things on your face that don't make life harder. Hourglass does the opposite.' The That's So True singer also praised the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer. She said: "It is still radiant even though it can be full coverage. "It really looks and feels like a second skin." Gracie's make-up artist, Emily Cheng, has taught her how best to use the product, including putting it on the back of her hand then spot-treating where her face needs it. She added: "Emily taught me the tip of letting the concealer sit for two minutes. It dries down more before blending so that it is more long-lasting.' The Call Me When You Break Up hitmaker previously revealed she finds it "therapeutic" to do her own stage make-up away from other people. She told 'I like the time to myself in that way. I slot for 20 more minutes than I actually need, just because it's nice to have an hour of the day sitting alone in a room. I value that alone time very much, and I do think it's therapeutic. "I'll listen to a podcast, I like On Being with Krista Tippett. The guests that she has on are always so beautifully spoken and experts in their respective fields, and she's an excellent moderator." Gracie needs her stage make-up to be bolder than her everyday look. she explained: "[For my make-up] on stage it's really about emphasising certain features, because I'm so far away from so many people. "Off-stage, I use a concealer for spot treating, a blush and do my brows. I like fine highlighting powders that both set and give your face some sheen. "I'm not a lipstick person so I use a brown-ish lip liner and a glossy balm. For stage, I go a bit heavier with highlighter and blush. I fill my brows in more.'
