Kelly Clarkson cashes in: pop icon sells off her biggest hits
Kelly Clarkson has officially sold a portion of her music catalogue to HarbourView Equity Partners, a move that has surprised fans and industry insiders alike. The deal includes several of her most defining tracks such as Since U Been Gone, Because of You, Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You), and Behind These Hazel Eyes, songs that not only shaped her career but also became anthems of the 2000s. The 43-year-old singer confirmed the sale in a statement, reflecting on the emotional weight of her decision. 'My music is such a huge part of my journey, not just professionally, but personally,' she said. 'Knowing these songs will continue to be heard and discovered by new generations means everything to me.' While the financial details of the agreement remain undisclosed, Clarkson's partnership with HarbourView signals a growing trend of artists monetising their music legacies. The firm, led by CEO Sherrese Clarke, specialises in investing across music, media, and sports, and has been actively acquiring valuable catalogues in recent years. Clarke praised Clarkson's influence, calling her 'a one-of-a-kind artist' whose work 'has defined moments for millions.' Clarkson rose to fame as the first-ever winner of American Idol in 2002, but she recently revealed she had no idea the show was even for television when she auditioned. 'I didn't even know it was a TV show until my third audition,' she shared on a podcast, explaining that at 19, she was just trying to pay her bills. With this sale, Clarkson joins a growing list of stars cashing in on their past hits, ensuring their music lives on but now, under new ownership.

Kelly Clarkson sells music catalogue to investment firm
Kelly Clarkson has sold a portion of her music catalogue to an investment company. The 43-year-old pop star has decided to sell some of her most acclaimed and recognisable hits, including Since U Been Gone, Because of You, Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You), and Behind These Hazel Eyes, to HarbourView Equity Partners. Kelly said in a statement: "My music is such a huge part of my journey – not just professionally, but personally. Knowing these songs will continue to be heard and discovered by new generations means everything to me. I'm grateful to HarbourView for valuing and supporting this catalogue the way they do." HarbourView's investment strategy is focused on the music, sports, media and entertainment industries. And Sherrese Clarke, the founder and CEO of HarbourView Equity Partners, is thrilled to have struck a deal with Kelly. Sherrese explained: "Kelly Clarkson is a one-of-a-kind artist whose voice and songwriting have left a permanent mark on music and pop culture. In addition to her musical genius, Kelly is a multi-hyphenate in entertainment, which is very aligned with our platform at HarbourView which invests across the broad entertainment segment. "Her catalogue is filled with anthems that have defined moments for millions of people. We're thrilled to partner with Kelly and help ensure these songs continue resonating for decades to come." Kelly became the inaugural winner of American Idol back in 2002. However, the pop star recently claimed that she didn't realise American Idol was a TV show prior to auditioning. The chart-topping pop star said on the Not Gonna Lie podcast: "For all of us in that first season, we literally didn't ... I didn't even know it was a TV show until my third audition. "Like, we were literally trying to pay our bills. We're like, 'Oh, this might work. I might meet someone or whatever.' Nobody knew it was gonna amount to anything. "We were literally, like, kids - you know, 19 years old just trying to pay my electric bill y'all. You know, and afford the deductible on my car that was bashed in that I couldn't afford. So it was a different thing."

Stirling gym introduces strength training classes to keep city's over 60s fighting fit
The gym hopes the new classes will help people over 60 achieve functional movement to aid in everyday life. A Stirling gym is on a mission to get people over the age of 60 in peak condition with the city's only strength classes tailored for them. Stronger, located on Borrowmeadow Road, is gearing up to introduce its strength training sessions specifically designed for those aged over 60. The classes, run by owner Elisha Scott, are set to kick off from Tuesday, August 5, offering 30-minute weekly sessions that concentrate on resistance training. They're crafted to be inclusive of all abilities and mobility levels, providing adaptable exercises for everyone. Elisha is passionate about helping the older generation master functional movements that will enhance their daily lives. She said: "My speciality is encouraging women into strength training which is important throughout your life, however many clients I've encountered who are aged over 60 have never felt included within a traditional gym setting. "The purpose of this class is to create a space where women over 60 feel empowered to learn resistance training to set them up for decades to come." After the age of 30, muscle mass decreases by a rate of between 3-8 per cent every decade in women, meaning the classes can drastically help slow that decline. With more than a decade under her belt in the fitness industry, Elisha inaugurated Stronger in August 2024. Since then, the gym has seen an influx of members joining through recommendations and glowing testimonials. Catering to a broad spectrum of individuals, Stronger has established itself as a welcoming environment where people from various backgrounds can enhance their physical strength, fitness, and mental well-being in a non-intimidating atmosphere. Gym member Spencer McPherson said: "I love being in this community, I can't believe how supportive everyone is! So grateful to have Stronger in my corner, I never feel out of place." Those interested in joining the Stronger Over 60 classes can get in touch with Elisha by phoning 07881128516 or sending an email to strongerbyelishascott@hotmail. com.

Kanye West fans chant for refund at chaotic Shanghai gig
Kanye West's fans chanted for a refund at his Shanghai concert after he turned up more than 40 minutes late. The controversial rapper took to the stage at Shanghai Stadium on Saturday night (12.07.25) and was not only reported by The Global Times to be significantly delayed getting onstage, but his set was plagued by technical difficulties, with some fans even taking to social media to complain about the lack of production. A clip has gone viral online of the moment the 70,000-strong crowd erupted and demanded a refund. What's more, one fan accused him of lip syncing. They wrote on X: "Mostly lip synching. His microphone must have been up less than 20 per cent of the time." The same user, with the username @Fabian_Lemuel, also claimed Kanye left the stage for 20 minutes during the encore as his music played over the sound system. The disappointed gig-goer wrote: "For the encore, he disappeared for over 20 minutes at one point as tracks like Wolves just played out with him nowhere in sight. I could have just played your music at home man. Came to see u perform???? (sic)" The concert marked Kanye's first since September 2024. It also came days after he was accused of sexual assault and "oral rape" by his former assistant. The Stronger hitmaker was first sued by Lauren Pisciotta - who worked for the rapper from 2021 until she was fired the following year - in 2024 for sexual harassment, when she claimed he had sent her explicit texts and pornographic videos, photos and calls, and she followed up and filed a second amended complaint which alleged assault, sexual battery and other allegations. In a complaint obtained by People magazine, the woman accused Kanye of having 'attempted to vaginally penetrate Ms. Pisciotta with his fingers' and also having 'orally raped her without her consent' while she worked for him. Lauren alleged the 48-year-old star tried to kiss her multiple times without her consent before succeeding once during a trip to San Francisco in 2021, and she claimed that on another work trip, Kanye bombarded her with intimate questions and then 'stroked his penis over his pants with one hand and forcibly touched her vagina with the other hand.' The complaint went on to allege the Bound 2 rapper - who is married to Bianca Censori and has four children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian - exposed his penis to his then-employee before pushing her onto the bed and pinning her down. The documents state: 'He then thrust his penis repeatedly into Ms. Pisciotta's face against her will. 'As Ms. Pisciotta frantically pled for Ye to stop, Ye forced his penis into her mouth. Ms. Pisciotta froze in shock and fear but continued to plead with Ye and beg him to stop. After some time, Ye ended the rape, apologized, and exited Ms. Pisciotta's hotel room.' Other allegations of misconduct detailed in the amended complaint include Kanye having once locked Lauren in a bedroom and 'forced her to watch him masturbate against her will,' and that he 'forcibly grabbed' her by the throat during a concert, as well as an accusation the rapper hired a third party to allegedly harass his assistant by "falsely reporting non-existent emergencies and incidents,' which 'resulted in a barrage of alarming and intrusive visits" to her home from police, various government investigative authorities and delivery and service providers." When Lauren filed her lawsuit last year, Kanye's legal representative denied the allegations and accused her of "blackmail and extortion" with the "baseless" claims. Kanye has only played a handful of gigs in recent years and has lost brand deals and been dropped by huge names since making a series of antisemitic outbursts.
