Tirupati: City MLA Arani Srinivasulu, district Collector Dr S Venkateswar, Joint Collector Subham Bansal, Zoo Park curator Selvam, DFO Vivek, residents living in the localities near the Zoo Park, officials and non-officials participated in the mass Yoga programme held in SV Zoo Park here on Thursday. This programme was organised as part of Yogandhra campaign going on in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA and the Collector said everyone should practice yoga daily for a healthy life. The government on its part launched a massive campaign to create awareness and also to provide yoga training to the people from village, mandal and district level, on the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day.Collector Dr S Venkateswar said the month-long yoga programme began on May 21 and will continue till June 31. From May 29 to June 19, mass yoga programmes will be conducted in Tirumala, Srihari Kota, Chandragiri and Srikalahasti.
They said that about five lakh people will participate in the yoga programme to be held in Visakhapatanm on June 21. The aim of conducting this month-long campaign is to provide training to 10 lakh people in yoga practicing.
RDO Rammohan, Nodal Officer Vikram Kumar Reddy, DMHO Balakrishna Naik, Janardhan Reddy, Charan Tej Reddy were present.

Yoga camp held at Puligundu tourism spot in Chittoor
District Collector Sumit Kumar and Superintendent of Police Manikantha Chandolu on Monday jointly inaugurated Yogandhra -2025 programme held at Puligundu, a famous tourism spot near Penumuru, 25 km from Chittoor. The event witnessed the participation of about 3,000 participants including youth, women, and officials. Addressing the gathering, the Collector highlighted the importance of making yoga a part of daily life. He said that every person, irrespective of age and gender, should inculcate a habit of practicing yoga for at least 30 minutes a day, and this could significantly reduce stress and prevent health issues. He said that as part of the ongoing yoga festival, scheduled from May 21 to June 21 at various levels from village to district headquarters, the special focus would be on promoting yoga at tourist spots. 'As part of the month-long schedule, a major yoga camp was conducted at the Kanipakam temple. The overwhelming participation of the public is a testimony to the growing awareness of the importance of yoga,' Mr. Kumar said. SP Manikantha Chandolu appealed to the public to understand the message enshrined in the practice of yoga and incorporate it along with other healthy eating habits. The officials informed the Collector that so far 2.5 lakh people have registered for the Yogandhra event across Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, Chittoor has over 5,000 trained yoga instructors who were roped in to conduct yoga camps across the district.

Yoga gaining popularity in rural, tribal areas: Parvathipuram MLA
Parvathipuram MLA Bonela Vijayachandra said on Sunday that the practice of yoga is gaining popularity in rural and tribal areas with the Yogandhra-2025 initiative of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government, adding that simple asanas can improve health and fitness for people of all ages. He visited the yoga camps organised by the Indian Medical Association, Lions Club and other organisations in association with Parvathipuram-Manyam district administration. During his visit he told officials to conduct more yoga camps across all mandals of Parvathipuram. He said that yoga is beneficial to all age groups, including the youth who face health issues due to changing lifestyles. District Medical and Health Officer S. Bhaskara Rao, IMA President Yalla Vivek, Lions Club President B. Nagabhusanam, along with others, were present for the event. Meanwhile, Collector A. Shyam Prasad has directed officials to encourage people to enrol in the Yogandhra portal, as the programme will continue for a few more weeks. He said, 'Meritorious practitioners will be given certificates and awards on the International Yoga Day, which is on June 21.'

Tirupati district gears up for full monsoon season
Tirupati: In view of the early arrival of the southwest monsoon, widespread rainfall is expected across the district. District Collector Dr S Venkateswar has instructed officials to remain vigilant and ensure full preparedness to tackle any challenges that may arise during the rainy season. Along with DRO G Narasimhulu, the Collector conducted a review meeting on Friday, issuing detailed instructions to officials from various departments. Emphasising the need for a comprehensive and robust action plan, Dr Venkateswar urged authorities to draw on past experiences to implement preventive measures more effectively this year. Officials were asked to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Disaster Management Authority and work in close coordination. The Collector directed the establishment of control rooms at the district, division, and mandal levels, with dedicated phone lines and toll-free numbers to be made available to the public. Panchayat secretaries and engineering assistants were instructed to jointly inspect tanks and canal bunds and submit reports on their condition. The Health Department was told to ensure that all medical officers, ANMs, and ASHA workers remain alert and that adequate stocks of medicines and medical equipment are maintained at all health centres. Special instructions were also issued to the police, fire, planning, revenue, irrigation, and panchayat departments. Departments such as Irrigation, Electricity (APEPDCL), Revenue, Agriculture, and Horticulture were directed to take immediate preventive action. Special attention was urged for flood-prone zones identified during last year's heavy rains. Reiterating the district administration's primary responsibility to protect citizens, the Collector called for full-scale preparedness. He warned of the risks posed by thunderstorms and lightning during the rainy season and instructed officials to raise awareness among the public and take precautions to prevent harm to both people and livestock and set up rehabilitation centres. The meeting was attended by RDOs of Srikalahasti, Sullurpeta, and Tirupati – Bhanu Prakash Reddy, Kiranmayi and Rammohan, DPO Suseela Devi and other officials.
