‘Escape artist' dog is a ‘local celebrity' in NC. Now, Cannoli will need a home
Now, the daring pup will need a new owner who makes sure to close their doors.
'He just loves adventure and any opportunity for escape, he'll try and take it,' Martina Spain, his foster mom, told McClatchy News in a May 16 phone interview. 'So, we are extra secure on all of our locks.'
The Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina expects Cannoli the dog to be available for adoption around May 21. He was rescued in April, after a woman found him roaming Chatham County roads and pulled over to help, according to Spain and an email from the rescue's marketing coordinator, Leann Tenbusch.
'Though sweet and friendly, Cannoli quickly earned a reputation as an escape artist — he sniffed out every weak spot in fences and managed to slip away from even the most watchful homes,' the Raleigh-area rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
Eventually, Cannoli landed with his current foster mom, who lives in an apartment with a layout that makes escapes difficult. He's described as a roughly 2- to 4-year-old pup who 'greets every person like a friend.'
'Cannoli is a young, smart, and extra beagley beagle with a big personality and an even bigger heart,' rescuers wrote. 'He's incredibly vocal, especially on walks, and isn't shy about letting you (and the neighborhood) know what he wants. Luckily, his foster's community loves a good beagle bark, and Cannoli has become something of a local celebrity.'
In addition to his barking, Cannoli reached celebrity status in his Durham neighborhood due to his friendliness and walks with his foster mom's well-known beagle, Luna Pearl. Spain said someone even recently recognized him across town.
As of May 20, the rescue's website listed Cannoli as being available for adoption soon. Details about the rescue's adoption process can be found at tribeagles.org.
'Cannoli is adaptable, brave, and affectionate — a perfect mix of silly, snuggly, and smart,' the rescue wrote. 'With the right home that understands the beagle spirit (and a good escape-proof setup!), Cannoli will be the most loyal and loving companion.'

‘The Map That Leads to You' Review: Baring It All in Barcelona
When Heather (Madelyn Cline) and Jack (KJ Apa) meet on an overnight train to Barcelona, Spain, he charms her by climbing into the luggage rack above her to sleep. Guided by an old travel journal, he's retracing his great-grandfather's journey through Europe, while she's nearing the end of a girls' trip. But what if she didn't go home? This is where we start in 'The Map That Leads to You,' directed by the genre veteran Lasse Hallstrom ('Dear John,' 'Safe Haven'), which continues the long tradition of easily forgotten romantic dramas propped up by unforgettable vacation backdrops. If you revere the quieter sparks in films like 'Before Sunrise,' the film's ocean views may hold your gaze even in this CW-style imitation, which has more sheen than soul. Ultimately, the romance's sentimental plotting needs more of Heather's grounded logic and far less of Jack's greeting card sayings. She's much too sensible to lose herself so quickly to his brand of bland. The ending squeezes in a wedding, a reunion and a soul-baring confessional letter. It's all as comfortably mindless as you'd expect. The enduring romance here is with Spain and Portugal. Shot on location, the cinematographer Elías M. Félix captures the sights and sounds of the Iberian Peninsula with aspirational warmth — the kind that makes you wonder what it might be like to surrender your own heart among such breathtaking vistas. The best love stories ask that question and earn their wisdom. This one hands it out on pretty postcards. The Map That Leads to YouRated PG-13 for some strong language, a tame sex scene and Jack's bare butt in the shower. Running time: 1 hour 36 minutes. Watch on Prime Video.

‘Culpa Nuestra' Trilogy Finale Gets October Global Premiere Date
The grand finale of Noah and Nick's passionate saga now has a release date. Prime Video announced today that its Spanish Original film Culpa Nuestra (Our Fault), the highly anticipated conclusion to Mercedes Ron's Culpables YA trilogy, will have its global premiere in October. The streamer also unveiled the final film's official poster, featuring the film's stars. Fans of the record-breaking whirlwind romance, set in a world of wealth, fast cars, street racing, secrets, and personal trauma, will welcome finding out what the future holds for the young lovers. Nicole Wallace (Skam España, Parot) and Gabriel Guevara (Mañana es Hoy, Hit) return as Noah and Nick for the final time. The trilogy's first two installments — Culpa Mía and Culpa Tuya — were a massive success. The first film debuted in June 2023. The second was released in December 2024, becoming the most-watched international original film on Prime Video at launch, cementing the franchise as a global phenomenon. So much so that Ron's story also spawned a hit English-language version: My Fault: London, which debuted in January 2025, also on Prime Video. In this final chapter, the wedding of their friends Jenna (Eva Ruiz) and Lion (Víctor Varona) sets the stage for Noah and Nick's long-awaited reunion after their painful breakup. Nick's inability to forgive Noah creates what appears to be an insurmountable barrier between them. He's now focused on his future as heir to his grandfather's business empire, while she's just beginning to build her professional life. Noah and Nick are both determined to resist rekindling a flame that still burns, but when their paths inevitably cross again, the question becomes whether their love can triumph over resentment. The returning ensemble cast includes Marta Hazas (Días Mejores, Pequeñas Coincidencias), Iván Sánchez (Bosé, Hospital Central), Victor Varona (Cielo Grande, Dani Who?), Eva Ruiz, Goya Toledo (Amores Perros, Veneno), Gabriela Andrada (Los Protegidos ADN, Los Herederos de la Tierra), Álex Béjar (Élite, Al Fondo Hay Sitio), Javier Morgade (Desaparecidos, Delfines de Plata), and Felipe Londoño (Entrevías, Perfil Falso). New to the cast is Fran Morcillo (La Casa de Papel), who joins as Simon. Culpa Nuestra is directed by Domingo González, who helmed the entire trilogy. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Sofía Cuenca (Culpa Tuya). The film is produced by Pokeepsie Films (Banijay Iberia), the Spanish production company behind acclaimed projects like 30 Monedas and El Bar, with Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang serving as producers. Culpa Nuestra will be available worldwide October 16, 2025.
