Rangers stop 6-game slide by edging White Sox
Adolis García hit a two-run double in a three-run ninth inning, and the Texas Rangers stopped a six-game slide with a 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
Jake Burger hit a two-run homer for the Rangers, who had dropped seven of eight overall. Shawn Armstrong (2-1) got four outs for the win, and Robert Garcia worked a rocky ninth for his second save.
The Rangers' ninth-inning rally started when Josh Jung was hit by a 0-2 fastball from Jordan Leasure (0-4). Burger followed with a double to put runners on second and third.
After Alejandro Osuna struck out, Kyle Higashioka reached on an error on first baseman Lenyn Sosa. Jung scored, tying it at 3, and García followed with a drive into the gap in left-center.
The White Sox got one back on Michael A. Taylor's RBI double in the bottom of the ninth. But Garcia picked Taylor off and Vinny Capra flied to the warning track in left for the final out.

Breyfogle then scored on a wild pitch by Walter McDuffie to tie the score. After a couple of walks loaded the bases, Mihalakis drove in two with a single to right field off of Folger Boaz. Tony Pluta (3-0) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. McDuffie (3-2) took the loss. The Tar Heels trailed 6-4 in the top of the seventh before scoring four runs to take the lead. Tyson Bass hit a three-run home run and Jackson Van De Brake drew a bases-loaded walk. Tommy Splaine hit a two-run home run for Arizona. North Carolina (46-14) is playing in a super regional for the 12th time, having advanced eight times previously. The New York Knicks' head coaching search appears to be in full swing. After making the surprising decision to part ways with Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks are now eyeing Jason Kidd as a potential candidate to replace the franchise's fourth-winningest coach. According to ESPN, the Knicks are actively vetting Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd. Since Kidd is under contract with the Mavs, the Knicks would have to submit a formal request to speak to the Dallas coach. The Knicks have yet to request permission to interview Kidd, sources told ESPN. Exploring a trade could also be a route the Knicks could take. But the Knicks did exhaust a considerable amount of draft capital to acquire forward Mikal Bridges. Kidd reportedly interviewed with the Knicks in 2020, but Thibodeau got the job. Thibodeau led the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference finals berth since 2000. The Indiana Pacers eliminated New York in six games. Kidd spent the final season of his lengthy NBA career with the Knicks. Prior to taking the Mavs' head coaching job, Kidd had coaching stints with the Nets and the Bucks.
