Sonasid, FRMF Partner to Boost Morocco's National Football

Morocco World2 days ago

Rabat – Sonasid, a key player in Morocco's steel industry, has signed a long-term strategic partnership with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), officially becoming a partner of the country's national football team, men's and women's.
The deal signals a commercial alliance and a shared national drive to push Morocco's international presence through sport, and to foster values such as discipline, teamwork, and belief in the country's youth.
'This partnership goes far beyond a simple collaboration. It unites two forces that carry Morocco's ambitions,' said Ismail Akalay, CEO of Sonasid.
His words point to a vision that ties together industrial strength and sporting excellence, with the country's future at the center.
By standing beside the FRMF, Sonasid intends to expand its role beyond steel production.
The company places social responsibility at the heart of its work, backing initiatives that open new paths for young people, promote education, and support social progress through the power of sport.
Sonasid's steel already shapes much of Morocco's modern infrastructure, including stadiums that host the national team's games.
The company leads in green steel innovation and runs major operations in Jorf Lasfar, Nador, and Berrechid. With this new chapter, it deepens its investment in the country.
The partnership comes as FRMF is strengthening cooperation with key stakeholders to promote national football.
In April, the FRMF and the National Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) sealed a landmark partnership under the theme 'Morocco, Land of Football.'
The agreement placed football at the center of the country's tourism vision. The timing felt deliberate, as Morocco prepares to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. Tags: FRMFMorocco footballsonasidsports

Modern Urban Living Comes to Casablanca with ALARGAN's New Development

Rabat – With Bernard Khoury's visionary touch and ALARGAN's proven development expertise, the vibrant city of Casablanca is set to witness the birth of a new benchmark for urban living. ALARGAN was founded in 1994 and has grown from a family business into a mature real estate developer active across the Middle East and North Africa. Today, ALARGAN is listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange (since 2007) and has delivered projects in Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Morocco. It brings together architectural design, construction, property management, project management, and sales and marketing under one roof, ensuring that every development meets high standards from start to finish. Over time, the company has also branched out into hospitality, health and fitness, education, and healthcare. This spirit of steady growth and innovation is captured in ALARGAN's motto, 'La vie… comme vous l'aimez !' ('Life… the way you love it!'), which guides the creation of spaces where living, working, and having fun blend seamlessly. Behind many of ALARGAN's most forward-thinking projects stands architect Bernard Khoury's decades of experience and reputation for world-class, innovative design. Khoury brings a clear vision to each building he touches. His work's focus goes beyond how a structure looks, and also includes how it fits into its neighborhood, how people move through it, and how it will adapt over time. When you see a Bernard Khoury design, you sense that every angle, every material choice, and every open space was chosen to spark curiosity and enhance daily life. A new urban destination in Casablanca The new mixed-use development in Casablanca is a perfect example of ALARGAN's commitment to creating places where people truly want to be. This project offers fully furnished studios designed for professionals to combine comfort and style. They are a prime business opportunity in Casablanca, with the first phase slated for delivery in July 2025. As Morocco prepares to host major events, like the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) later this year and the World Cup in 2030, these studios promise strong rental demand and solid investment potential. In addition, urban living apartments cater to those who wish to settle down or work remotely, as they provide flexible layouts, modern finishes, and plenty of natural light. Entrepreneurs and small businesses will also find rental offices outfitted with all essentials, ready for move-in from day one. Inside the development, residents and tenants will find the very first Mama Shelter in Africa, a hotel brand known for its warm, friendly vibe and vibrant public spaces. For those looking for fitness and relaxation, there's a state-of-the-art gym and the longest rooftop pool in Casablanca offering sweeping city views. A location that has it all Studio residents even have access to two private swimming pools, so they can swim, unwind, or host small gatherings without leaving home. A separate ground-level pool adds to the leisure options. Safety and convenience come together thanks to 24-hour security and a selection of shops and restaurants opening right inside the building. Imagine grabbing a coffee on your way to the office, meeting a friend for lunch just downstairs, or winding down with a healthy meal before heading home. Location is everything, and this development shines in that regard. It sits within easy reach of the fashionable Maarif district, where boutiques and cafés line the streets. It's also just minutes from the main stadium, soon to host big games, concerts, and shows, so you're always close to the action. If you prefer the sea breeze, the beachfront promenade is only a five-minute drive away, perfect for evening walks or weekend runs. ALARGAN's approach has always been about combining high-quality design with lasting value. The company was the first in Kuwait to earn LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, which reflects its commitment to sustainable, energy-efficient design. By choosing moderate investment strategies, ALARGAN looks for opportunities that deliver steady, reliable returns through different market cycles. This project in Casablanca builds on that track record: it's crafted to meet global sustainability standards while offering an attractive mix of living, working, and leisure spaces. To support the success of this ambitious project, ALARGAN has entrusted the commercial aspect to Chestertons , a global real estate leader known for its strong market insight and international reach. ONMT Launches Football-Focused Roadshow Ahead of AFCON 2025

Rabat – In the lead-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Morocco has launched a European tour to present itself as the host of Africa's biggest football event, as well as a country where sport, culture, and tourism intersect with purpose. From June 16-23, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is leading a five-city roadshow under the banner 'Morocco, Land of Football.' The campaign stops in Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Milan, five European hubs where the appetite for football runs deep and connections to Morocco are strong. At the heart of this tour lies the vision that Morocco is more than a mere destination, but instead is a proud, future-facing country anchored in its African identity and football culture. With AFCON 2025 on the horizon, the campaign seeks to draw attention to Morocco's preparations and its ability to deliver a world-class event rooted in hospitality, modernity, and passion for the game. 'Morocco is ready to welcome Africa,' said ONMT Director General Achraf Fayda in a statement. 'This roadshow tells the story of a country proud of its roots, united by football, and committed to offering something greater than a tournament. We want people to feel the experience of AFCON 2025 before they even arrive.' The tour reflects a broader effort launched through a strategic agreement between ONMT and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), signed earlier this year. Throughout the tour, Moroccan officials will meet with European travel experts, sports industry professionals, and media figures. More than 100 travel agents and tour operators join the gathering in each stop, alongside African tourism specialists. By putting forward its infrastructure, its youth, and its welcoming spirit, Morocco positions itself as more than a host. It proposes a shared African narrative, ambitious, inclusive, and rooted in real partnerships. This roadshow etches one of the key moments in Morocco's buildup to AFCON 2025. Morocco will also co-host the most anticipated FIFA 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. Tags: AFCON 2025FootballFRMFMoroccoONMT

Morocco Committed to Making 2030 World Cup Model for Social Inclusion, Environmental Sustainability

Morocco is firmly committed to making the 2030 FIFA World Cup a model of environmental sustainability and social inclusion, said the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, on Wednesday. The organization of this major sporting event aligns with HM the King's enlightened vision, placing sustainability at the heart of national public policy, Lekjaa stressed, who also serves as Chairman of the 2030 World Cup Committee. As part of embedding the organization of this event within a broader dynamic of ecological transition, Lekjaa stated that "this global celebration carries top-tier ecological responsibilities, with an ideal opportunity to accelerate our sustainable and inclusive development." During a conference held at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Lekjaa emphasized that Morocco aims to make this tournament a lever for urban, economic, and social transformation, in line with the strategic guidelines of the New Development Model. "Our ambition is clear: to make Morocco a key player in global football and an African model for sustainable sports development, balancing excellence with respect for the planet." For her part, Ilaria Carnevali, Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Morocco, welcomed the initiative to promote sustainability through sport, which aims to align climate ambitions with a broader sporting project. "Morocco demonstrates an exemplary vision by aligning its climate commitments with this global event," she told the press. She indicated that the 2030 World Cup can serve as a global model for integrating environmental goals while delivering lasting benefits to local communities and inspiring future generations. During the event, emphasis was placed on the historic opportunity the 2030 World Cup represents to accelerate Morocco's structural transformations in support of its climate commitments, territorial development, and international influence.
